Bigg Boss 18's Chum Darang unfollows close friend Shrutika Arjun on social media; sparks fallout rumours
In a surprising turn of events, Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang has stopped following housemate and close friend Shrutika Arjun on social media, prompting their fans to speculate about a possible falling out between the pair. The two, who enjoyed great camaraderie throughout the show, were regularly spotted supporting one another both within and outside the Bigg Boss compound. Though Chum no longer keeps up with Shrutika, there is a point to note that Shrutika continues to keep up with Chum on Instagram, further perpetuating the question of what is going on between them currently. None of Chum and Shrutika has issued an official statement on the matter, which leaves everyone perplexed and worried. The action came under scrutiny shortly afterward, with users taking to Twitter to share their confusion and dismay. One tweet read, "Chum and Shrutika not following each other? This hurts more than any Bigg Boss eviction. ???? #BB18" Another posted, "I really hope this is a misunderstanding. Their friendship was one of the purest things to come out of Bigg Boss 18. #ChumDarang #ShrutikaArjun.' A third viewer speculated, "Social media moves say a lot these days. If Chum unfollowed Shrutika, something must've gone wrong behind the scenes. Waiting for clarity. #BB18Drama" Both Chum and Shrutika had been keeping a public friendship after the finale of the show, frequently commenting on each other's posts and granting interviews together. Their shockingly sudden media silence and unfollowing has sparked rumors among fans that perhaps something has gone wrong between the two.

Chum Darang Recalls Facing Racism: ‘From Momo To Coronavirus, We've Heard It All'
Last Updated: Actor and Bigg Boss 18 fame Chum Darang has opened up about the racism she's faced as a Northeast Indian, especially post-COVID. Actor and Bigg Boss 18 fame Chum Darang, who hails from Arunachal Pradesh, is speaking out about the racism she has faced throughout her life—and how things worsened after the COVID-19 pandemic. In a candid interview with Zoom, she also emphasized the importance of inclusivity in mainstream cinema and television, calling it a crucial step toward normalizing the acceptance of Northeast Indian identities. 'Inclusivity is very important for North Eastern people," she said. 'Television and cinema is a very big thing because it is consumed in each and every household. It has a very wide reach." Sharing her personal experience, Chum reflected on how racism has shaped her life—but also on how she refuses to be reduced by it. 'I have faced a lot of racism but I don't want to go deep into those stories and sound like a victim. The thing with racism and discrimination is some people are genuinely not aware, while there are some who do it intentionally," she explained. Chum recalled the emotional toll of being questioned repeatedly about her identity. 'When I say I am from Arunachal, it means I am from this country only. If you don't understand this or keep asking even after I've said it, then you should be ashamed of yourself. You have sung the National Anthem every day, and I have sung it too. I am a proud Indian and no one can take that away from me." The actress also addressed how the pandemic triggered new levels of hostility against Northeast Indians. 'Earlier, people would do racist things like calling us 'momo', and later, they started calling us 'coronavirus'. Such comments and mentality do annoy me, but I am someone who knows how to give it back then and there, and I have done it a lot of times." A few months ago, Chum made headlines after calling out YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav for making racist remarks against her. While she typically ignores trolls and negativity, this time she chose to speak up. 'We are tribals. Our culture, our identity holds a very important meaning for us. And you cannot hurt my entire community just like that." Following the backlash, Elvish issued a public apology, stating that he had no intention of targeting or mocking any particular community. Chum Darang recalls people making fun of her in college for being lanky: ‘They called me bamboo and giraffe'
Actor Chum Darang, who became a household name after her stint on Salman Khan's show Bigg Boss, spoke about being body-shamed. In an interview with Times Now, the actor revealed how she was mocked for being thin and tall, and how the taunts didn't stop even after she gained weight. (Also Read: Chum Darang played Chinese woman in Paatal Lok because she 'needed money'; recalls being called 'chow chow' in Mumbai) The actor recalled, 'People used to make fun of me because I used to be lanky. They used to call me Bamboo and Giraffe, as I was tall, thin and dark. In college, I started taking medicines to gain weight. Then, people started making fun of my weight. At that time, I realised whatever you do, people will always complain. You just do what makes you happy.' Earlier, Chum also won hearts when she spoke out against racist remarks made by Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner and YouTuber Elvish Yadav. During a podcast with Rajat Dalal, Elvish mocked Chum's name, calling it vulgar, and ridiculed her ethnicity and her appearance in Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi. Reacting to his comments, Chum wrote on Instagram: 'Disrespecting someone's identity and name is not 'fun.' Mocking someone's achievements is not 'banter.' It's time we drew the line between humour and hate. What's even more disappointing is that this wasn't just about my ethnicity. My hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali were also disrespected. To my fellow Northeasterners and everyone who has faced racism, I see you, hear you, and I stand with you. We all deserve respect, dignity and equality. Let's raise our voices against racism and promote a culture of empathy, kindness and understanding.' Following the controversy, Elvish was summoned by the National Commission for Women (NCW). In April, he appeared at the NCW office and issued an apology. Chum was most recently seen in the web series Khauf. The horror series, written by Smita Singh and directed by Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan, also stars Monika Panwar, Rajat Kapoor, Abhishek Chauhan, Geetanjali Kulkarni and Shilpa Shukla in key roles. The series is available to stream on Prime Video.
