Trio assaults man, knocks him down as cars brush; held
Noida: A man and his two sons allegedly assaulted the driver of another car after their vehicles brushed each other on a busy road near Sai temple in Sector 58. The three men were arrested on Thursday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to police, Umesh Gupta was driving his Ciaz along the service road in the area on Tuesday when the other car, an Innova, approached from the wrong direction. Gupta said he tried to give way, but the two vehicles brushed against each other. What followed was a heated exchange between Gupta and the Innova driver, which soon turned violent when Gupta's sons, Anubhav and Vaibhav, joined in. Videos recorded by bystanders and shared online show the three men repeatedly striking the Innova driver, knocking him to the ground, and even attempting to use a stick taken from a passerby. Eventually, the crowd intervened to stop the assault. While the driver escaped without serious injuries, the Guptas were booked under BNS sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and arrested. In a separate incident on Thursday, four residents of Ghazipur were arrested by Knowledge Park police for allegedly ramming a man's car, leaving him severely injured. The accused allegedly had a personal dispute with the victim. They now face charges under sveral BNS sections for rioting, attempted murder, and wrongful restraint.

Maruti Suzuki India posts 6% YoY decline in total sales for June 2025; Export performance at all-time monthly high
By Aman Shukla Published on July 1, 2025, 16:28 IST Maruti Suzuki India reported a 6% drop in total sales for June 2025, selling 167,993 units compared to 179,228 units in the same month last year. The decline was largely driven by weaker domestic demand, although the company recorded its highest-ever monthly exports. In the domestic market, Maruti sold 121,339 vehicles in June, including 2,433 units of its light commercial vehicle, Super Carry. Passenger vehicle sales stood at 118,906 units, down from 137,160 units in June 2024. Sales of mini and compact cars — which include popular models like the Alto, WagonR, and Baleno — fell sharply, dropping to 60,591 units from 73,444 a year earlier. The mid-size sedan Ciaz also saw muted numbers, with just over 1,000 units sold. Utility vehicles, a category that includes models like the Brezza, Ertiga, and Grand Vitara, contributed 47,947 units to the monthly tally, slightly lower than last year. Meanwhile, van sales, primarily led by the Eeco, also slipped year-on-year. On a more positive note, Maruti's exports touched 37,842 units in June — the highest monthly number ever for the company. Sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) came in at 8,812 units. Looking at the broader April-June quarter, Maruti's total sales stood at 527,861 units, marginally up from 521,868 units in the same period last year. Maruti Suzuki sold 135,962 units domestically in May 2025 as opposed to 144,002 units it sold in May 2024. Maruti Suzuki's dosmestic sales fell by 5.58 per cent in May 2025 while exports rose by 79.7 per cent. This marks a year-on-year fall of 5.58 per cent for the carmaker from the 144,002 units it sold domestically in May 2024. On the other hand, the carmaker's exports rose by 79.7 per cent in the month with total exports of 31,219 units as opposed to 17,367 units in the same period last year. Continuing the trend, the passenger vehicle segment for the carmaker which includes models like the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Swift, Dzire, Ciaz and others, saw a downfall of 12.81 per cent YoY from 78,838 units in May 2024 to 68,736 units in May 2025. Meanwhile, the utility vehicle segment which includes models like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga and others, saw a slight increase of 1.2 per cent YoY to 54,899 units in May 2025 from 54,204 units in the same period last year. He expressed that the Indian passenger vehicle market will continue to witness muted growth unless the small car segment sees growth. Tax reduction to revive the segment In order to regain momentum in the small car space, Bhargava proposed the introduction of tax structures tailored specifically for smaller cars—lower taxes compared to other segments. Drawing a parallel with Japan's Kei cars, which benefit from lower taxes and regulations, he suggested India should adopt a similar approach. By making small cars more affordable and accessible, India could see a shift from motorcycles to four-wheelers, helping to accommodate the 30 crore two-wheeler owners in the country, the chairman emphasised. Maruti Suzuki India shares surge nearly 3% after April sales jumps 7% YoY, beating estimates
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. saw its shares rise nearly 3% in early trading today after reporting April 2025 sales that slightly surpassed estimates. As of 9:29 AM, the shares were trading 2.77% higher at Rs 12,592.00 The company recorded total sales of 179,791 units in April, marking a 7% year-on-year increase from 168,089 units in the same month last year. This growth came from strong performances across various segments, including domestic sales, OEM supply, and exports. The compact segment, which includes models like the Baleno, Swift, and WagonR, saw a notable rise with 61,591 units sold, up from 56,953 units in April 2024. However, sales in the mini and compact segments combined showed a slight dip from 68,472 to 67,923 units. The mid-size sedan Ciaz experienced a sharp decline, with sales falling to 321 units from 867 in April 2024. In the utility vehicle category, which includes the Brezza, Ertiga, and Jimny, Maruti Suzuki saw strong demand, selling 59,022 units compared to 56,553 units last year. Sales in the van and light commercial vehicle segments showed mixed results, with the Eeco van seeing a slight decline to 11,438 units, while the Super Carry saw growth with 3,349 units sold. Domestic sales, including passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles, rose to 151,880 units, up from 145,929 units in April 2024. The company also saw a significant 26% rise in exports, with 27,911 units shipped abroad. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.'s stock has been showing significant movement recently. Exports power Maruti Suzuki's April performance as domestic sales hold steady
SUV sales in the domestic market grew by 4.3 per cent for Maruti Suzuki India in April 2025 Leading Indian carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India has posted a growth of 6.9 per cent on a year-on-year basis in the month of April 2025 with total sales of 179,791 units in the month. With domestic retails of 138,704 units and exports of 27,911 units, the growth in total sales can largely be attributed to the exports for the company. In terms of domestic sales, the carmaker posted sales of 138,704 units in the month as opposed to 137,952 units it posted during the same time last year. This translates to a marginal YoY growth of 0.54 per cent. Interestingly, while the SUV and MPV segment for the carmaker saw growth of 4.3 per cent YoY with domestic sales of 59,022 units, the other segments saw a downfall. The passenger cars segment, which houses models like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Swift, Dzire, Ciaz, Alto and others, saw a downfall of 1.57 per cent with domestic retails of 68,244 units. Moreover, within the passenger car segment, the entry level models, such as the Alto K10 and the S-Presso saw a massive drop of 45 per cent with total domestic sales of 6,332 in the month. He debunked the popular belief that the shift from small cars to SUVs is driven by changing consumer aspirations and a preference for larger cars. In reality, he explained, the issue isn't about preference—it's affordability. Many people simply can't afford even small cars anymore. Growing exports for Maruti Suzuki India While the domestic sales for the carmaker have grown marginally, exports have taken a huge leap. Maruti Suzuki exported 27,911 units in the month of April 2025 as opposed to 22,160 units exported in the same time last year. This translates into a growth of 25.9 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Interestingly, during the press conference, Bhargava explained that while domestic passenger vehicle sales for the carmaker are expected to remain subdued, Maruti Suzuki India is banking on its export strategy to drive growth in both production and revenue for the new financial year. Check out further details In FY25, the company achieved a significant milestone, surpassing the three lakh exports mark with a total of 332,585 units exported—up from 283,067 units in the previous year. This represents a year-on-year growth of 17.49 per cent, marking the highest-ever export figures for the carmaker. One of the key models expected to drive exports in the current financial year is the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Bhargava revealed that while the company plans to produce around 70,000 units of its debut electric vehicle, the majority of these units will be destined for export markets.
