Create Account Emily Nutley, a 43-year-old married mother of three, was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison after she pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery in April, local media reported. Nutley was facing a maximum penalty of five years for each offence. Authorities said Nutley was working as a teacher and instructor at St. Xavier High School in suburban Springfield Township during the 2023 fall semester. Her role was to supervise a program that assisted students struggling with academics. The victim, a 17-year-old boy at the time, had been assigned to the program as part of the school's 'multi-tiered system of support.' 'It was during this time that Nutley began to have additional contact with the victim outside of school hours,' the Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said in a statement last October. 'This contact, via text message, included nude photographs of Nutley and sexually explicit messages.' Your noon-hour look at what's happening in Toronto and beyond. She also allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim in her officer after school hours. 'When the victim attempted to stop the encounters, Nutley continued to contact the victim via text messages,' prosecutors alleged at the time. RECOMMENDED VIDEO School administrators learned of the teacher's alleged conduct following an internal investigation. Police were soon notified and a criminal probe was launched, leading to her being charged with six counts of sexual battery. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. 'This is absolutely unacceptable and reprehensible conduct from an adult towards a minor child,' Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said at the time of the charges. 'This child was in need of help and guidance but instead found an adult looking to act out her perverted sexual desires.' Nutley spoke at her sentencing hearing, pointing out the significant work she has done to rehabilitate herself after losing her career and marriage, and added there's 'no excuse' for what she did. 'I crossed a line that should never have been crossed,' she said, according to NBC affiliate WLWT. 'I think every day about the impact of my actions. I've lost my husband, my home, my friends. I've caused harm and embarrassment to my children.' Toronto & GTA World Toronto Blue Jays Toronto & GTA World

Braxton Brewing Co. to take over Hi-Wire Brewing's Norwood taproom at Factory52

Braxton Brewing Company is taking over Hi-Wire Brewing's taproom in Norwood, making it the the fifth location in the growing craft brewer's portfolio. Covington-founded Braxton Brewing will transition the Hi-Wire's taproom at Factory52 into one of its own after both companies made the "mutual growth transition," according to a news release. The taproom will be temporarily closed until sometime in June for renovations. Braxton Brewing said it will retain current Hi-Wire employees from the Factory 52 location and several Hi-Wire beers will remain on tap. In addition, Braxton Brewing is taking over the green-space and full-service bar in front of the brewery, which they are calling The Porch. The brewery plans to continue offering family-friendly programming and events in the green space, including movie nights and pop-up events. The departure of Asheville, North Carolina-based Hi-Wire's northernmost taproom comes after Hurricane Helene destroyed much of the brewery's headquarters, flagship taproom and distribution warehouse in September 2024. "We had to look at our business and figure out the best path forward without knowing how we would recover from the flood," Hi-Wire co-founder Adam Charnack said in the news release. "We had to think about how to ensure the health of the business, and that meant making some hard choices." Hi-Wire opened its Cincinnati-area taproom in 2023, following expansions across North Carolina and in Louisville, Kentucky; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Nashville. Braxton Brewing recently opened a new location in Union, Kentucky in November. Another Pennsylvania-based company is moving into Greater Cincinnati, but it's not a convenience store chain. It's a dessert shop with milkshakes, ice cream and small-batch chocolates. MilkShake Factory opens its first Cincinnati-area store in Mason at 2144 Kings Mills Road on May 31. The store will celebrate its grand opening with music and a buy-one-get-one free offer on all shakes, sundaes and molten cups from noon to 4 p.m. MilkShake Factory is known for its gourmet milkshakes, with flavors like Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Campfire S'mores and Cookie Jar. The brand also offers chocolate barks, ice cream sundaes and dairy-free shakes. The Mason store is owned by franchisees husband-and-wife Tracy and Joe Carter. It also marks an expansion into Ohio for the Pittsburgh-headquartered company. 'With so many families, attractions, and visitors passing through Mason, we saw a real opportunity to bring something special to the area,' Tracy Carter said in an emailed statement. 'MilkShake Factory is all about creating joyful moments, and we're excited to become part of the community's everyday celebrations.' A MilkShake Factory is also set to open in Columbus this weekend, with two more stores planned for elsewhere in Ohio. Guy Fieri reveals Cincinnati chili order, calls town 'really cool' food city

The Mayor of Flavortown declared Cincinnati "one of the really cool food cities" with "next-level chefs" in a visit to Jungle Jim's on May 5. Emmy-winning TV presenter and celebrity chef Guy Fieri, best known for his Food Network show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," gushed about the Queen City's culinary scene during an appearance he made at Jungle Jim's in Eastgate to promote his Santo Spirits brand. "Cincinnati continues to grow and emerge as one of the really cool food cities. You've got a lot of culture, a lot of history and then you've got all kinds of next-level chefs coming up," Fieri said at the Jungle Jim's event, which was open to the public. Fieri added that he filmed at three Cincinnati-area restaurants as part of his beloved "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" series, but he won't share which they are yet. "(They) are what I call 'destination restaurants,' like you would drive a couple hours to come and get to one of these restaurants. And I'm not going to tell you what they are yet. You probably already know, but they're big and they're hot. Get ready," the restaurateur said. Fieri, who proclaimed he's a Cincinnati-style chili-lover, said his go-to order is a five-way, though he wishes he could go beyond and add even more toppings. "I like spice, I want jalapeños, but I don't think you can go past a five-way right?" Fieri said. "If you go to Flavortown with it ... because how great would it be to have some crumbled-up Fritos on top and some jalapeños on top, maybe some fried shallots. I could let it roll." The TV personality added that he tried a Cincinnati chili pizza earlier in the day, which he called "jaw-dropping." Fieri's tequila brand, which is a collaboration between him and his friend, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar, launched in 2019 with a selection of tequilas featuring bold and authentic flavors. Fieri and Hagar's brand has several award-winning spirits, including Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, a 110-proof Blanco Tequila and Mezquila, the world's first tequila and mezcal blend.
