Everything to know about ‘The Batman 2': Returning cast, script finalized
Director Matt Reeves' version of The Batman hit theaters in 2022 and jump-started the post-COVID box office with a dynamic $369 million domestic and $772 million worldwide. Critics were enraptured by Robert Pattinson's darker, grittier, noir-style caped crusader, giving the DC Studios movie an 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a 72 score on Metacritic — not too shabby for a comic-book character who's been skulking around Gotham City since 1939. With every successful blockbuster comes the inevitable sequel announcement, and The Batman was no different. But ever since being green-lit by Warner Bros., the follow-up has been hampered with production hiccups and delayed at least a year on the release schedule. Pattinson would return as reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne who fought crime as the gruff-voiced Batman, while Reeves would write (with Mattson Tomlin) and direct the new movie. "Matt took one of our most iconic and beloved superheroes and delivered a fresh vision," then-Warner Bros. studio boss Toby Emmerich said. 'Matt Reeves, Rob Pattinson, and the entire team will be taking audiences back to Gotham with The Batman 2." Besides Pattinson, three other cast members from The Batman were in talks for the sequel. Jeffrey Wright (Gotham Police Commissioner James "Jim" Gordon) told Deadline, "I haven't read the script yet, but that's the plan," referring to his eventual return. Andy Serkis (butler Alfred Pennyworth) revealed at 2024's ACE Superhero Comic Con, "I loved working with Rob Pattinson, and I really look forward to playing Alfred once more." Serkis later added, "[Reeves] told me the story of The Batman 2, and I was so excited for it." And Reeves confirmed that Colin Farrell's Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, would come back during a 2024 Comic-Con panel for the HBO spin-off show The Penguin. Initially, the sequel was set to begin principal photography in November 2023, according to ScreenRant, but it was pushed back because of the dual Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes. In February 2025, Pattinson told Deadline that The Batman 2 would start shooting "at the end of the year," which puts production in late fall or early winter 2025. "Everything feels so long ago, because COVID just erased three years," the actor said. Pattinson didn't give away the storyline, though he did tease that the plot is "cool." According to Production Weekly, principal photography will take place at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, the same studio that was used for portions of The Batman. In April 2025, yet another delay was hinted at, this one involving Pattinson's potential casting in Dune: Part Three. Deadline reported that Dune franchise director Denis Villeneuve had his eyes on Pattinson as "a new addition to the all-star ensemble" for the upcoming third film. While sources close to the project declined to comment, Deadline's Justin Kroll wrote on X that since Dune: Part Three "will shoot this summer," the actor "could shoot in reasonable time and have it not affect Batman 2, whenever that goes into production." In other words, online rumors suggesting that Pattinson's involvement in Dune 3 means that The Batman 2 will be canceled are flat-out wrong. After originally securing a theatrical release date of Oct. 2, 2026, The Batman 2 was pushed back a full year to Oct. 1, 2027, to give it more time to prep and film. Now, an untitled Alejandro González Iñárritu and Tom Cruise movie will take that 2026 calendar date instead, per The Hollywood Reporter. "Matt is committed to making the best film he possibly can, and no one can accurately guess exactly how long a script will take to write," DC Studios co-chief James Gunn said in December 2024 about the yearlong holdup. "Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting, and post-production on big films." In January 2023, the sequel was initially titled The Batman: Part II. But that didn't last long, as it was officially untitled as of December 2024, because Reeves was still writing the script. The new title has yet to be announced. Note that previous Batman movie sequels within the DC universe did not include numbers in their titles, and were instead called Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995), Batman & Robin (1997), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012). On June 27, 2025, Reeves and Tomlin posted the blurred-out title page of the Batman 2 script on Instagram along with the caption, "Partners in Crime (Fighters)," plus three bat emojis. Variety confirmed that this meant the script was, indeed, finished. Pattinson follows in a long line of Batman actors who've appeared on the big screen, including Lewis Wilson (1943), Robert Lowery (1949), Adam West (1966), Michael Keaton (1989-92), Val Kilmer (1995), George Clooney (1997), Christian Bale (2005-12), and Ben Affleck (2016-21). Bill Hader revealed ‘terrible' encounter with Martin Kove years before biting incident: ‘Weird mind f–k'
Bill Hader has the tea on Martin Kove. Over ten years before the 'Cobra Kai' actor, 78, bit his co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim at a fan convention this past weekend, Hader, 47, spoke about a bizarre encounter he had with Kove on the 'WTF with Marc Maron' podcast. During the 2013 episode, Hader recalled that at age 20 his job was to drive actors to sets. One day, Hader was tasked with bringing Kove to a film shoot. Kove gave a full apology for the incident in a statement obtained by TMZ. Denis Villeneuve unveiled a new director of James Bond
Denis Villeneuve will helm the next James Bond film. Despite there still being no actor confirmed to take over from Daniel Craig as the suave spy after he hung up his tuxedo in 2021's No Time To Die, the Dune and Blade Runner 2049 helmer has been unveiled as the director. He takes over the job from Cary Joji Fukunaga. Villeneuve, 57, has vowed to "honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come." In a statement, he said: "Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr No with Sean Connery. "To me, he's sacred territory. I intend to honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come." His promise comes amid much discussion surrounding the blockbuster action franchise and the hope that it will be entirely overhauled in its next era. Amazon MGM Studios, Mike Hopkins, commented: "Denis has delivered compelling worlds, dynamic visuals, complex characters, and - most importantly - the immersive storytelling that global audiences yearn to experience in theatres. "James Bond is in the hands of one of today's greatest filmmakers and we cannot wait to get started on 007's next adventure." Earlier this year, Amazon Studios took control of the franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, while Amy Pascal and David Heyman are attached to produce the next film in the super spy series. Speaking at CinemaCon in April, Amazon MGM executives Courtenay Valenti and Sue Kroll told the convention: "We are committed to honouring the legacy of this iconic character while bringing a fresh, exotic new chapter to audiences around the world alongside Amy and David. "They're both in London getting started and couldn't be here tonight, but we wanted to thank them for what we know to make an incredible partnership.' As for the next Bond, Aaron Taylor-Johnson recently hinted he could be 007. The 35-year-old actor has been heavily rumoured to be the next Bond and gave a very coy response when asked about what he'll be doing after working on 28 Years Later. Quizzed by Deadline at the horror movie's premiere on June 18, he said: "I can't talk about it." Taylor-Johnson was already being led away before the question was asked, and flashed a smile after his cryptic answer. A few weeks prior, the Hollywood star was announced as a global ambassador for Swiss brand Omega, which has been the Bond franchise's go-to watch brand since 1995's GoldenEye, with every 007 since Pierce Brosnan wearing their timepieces on screen. Taylor-Johnson said at the time: "I have always had an appreciation for timepieces, but especially for Omega. 'Now, after visiting the factory, I am in awe of the skill required to manufacture such a luxurious product.' Meanwhile, Omega's CEO Raynald Aeschlimann praised him as a "versatile actor with a range that covers action, thriller, romance, and much more".

Ahead of F1, Brad Pitt calls this former co-star ‘annoyingly good' at racing: ‘He is just a natural at everything he does'
With F1 the movie right around the corner, actor Brad Pitt has put the pedal to the metal when it comes to promotions. Pitt, who isn't really known for giving long interviews, let alone making appearances on a podcast, showed up on actor Dave Shepard's show The Armchair Expert. Pitt touched on several topics, including addiction, recovery, F1, early career and future plans. But what Brad was most excited about was his love for motor sports in general, and he shared several anecdotes about his racing hobby, including one of racing bikes with actor Channing Tatum. Pitt and Dave can be seen completely digressing from what they were talking about, as they both started 'nerding out' about racing and how Pitt very graciously offered to fly Dave to the last racing event they had. Dave said, 'I remember you suddenly asking me after an AA meeting whether I was going to the tracks or not, and then you offered to fly me there in your helicopter.' Pitt dodged the compliment and said that he is glad that he gets to do 'rock and roll' things like that once in a while. I wasn't as quick as some of these guys, like Channing.' To which Dave said, 'Let the record also reflect that Brad is also very quick and Channing was just annoyingly good very quickly. He is just one of those athletes who can do everything and is just a natural.' The duo also talked about Toto Wolff, who is the CEO of Mercedes's Formula One team, and how he talks about Lewis Hamilton also being a natural at everything he does. It's definitely high praise, coming from someone like Pitt, who has actually driven an F1 car and has been appreciated for his racing skills by the one and only Tom Cruise. During the CinemaCon earlier this year, Cruise expressed his excitement for F1 and recalled working with Pitt on the movie Interview With The Vampire (1994). 'It's great to see Brad driving; he's a very good driver, believe me. I have raced against him. When we were doing Interview With The Vampire, we used to go and race go-karts against each other. We would finish and then go race go-karts all night, and he was a hell of a driver.' It seems that Pitt will get to see more of Channing on the motorbike, as the duo are reportedly collaborating on a docu-series about one of the most dangerous races of all time, the Isle of Man TT. F1 has been directed by Joseph Kosinski, and the cast includes Pitt, Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Lewis Hamilton. Pitt will play the role of a veteran driver who returns to Formula One and teams up with a rookie (Idris) to save his old friend's (Bardem) team. The film also features music from aristes like Ed Sheeran, BLACKPINK, Chris Stapleton, Doja Cat and more. It releases worldwide on June 27.
