Bahrain and Pakistan Strengthen Civil Defense Cooperation

Bahrain's Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defense Council, His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, welcomed the Director-General of Pakistan's Border Affairs Organization and his accompanying delegation on Sunday morning. The meeting, also attended by Deputy Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel and Public Security Chief Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, focused on enhancing civil protection and shelter management. General Shaikh Rashid expressed his appreciation for the close and longstanding ties between Bahrain and Pakistan, highlighting the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation, especially in emergency response and civil safety. He emphasized the importance of coordination, knowledge exchange, and adopting best practices in civil emergency management to improve readiness, ensure public safety, and enhance response to various risks. During the meeting, the Bahraini side presented its national experience in civil protection. This included Bahrain's efforts through the National Civil Protection Platform, the publication of a detailed technical guide for shelters and evacuation centers, and the launch of public awareness campaigns to promote safe behavior in emergencies. Both sides discussed mutual interests and explored ways to deepen collaboration, face emerging challenges, and build a safer environment for all.

In implementation of the high directives of H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, an extraordinary meeting of the Civil Defense Council convened with the participation of representatives from relevant authorities. Chaired by H.E. Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who is also the Chairman of the Civil Defense Council, the extraordinary meeting was held to assess and evaluate the damages resulting from the interception of Iranian missiles and to compensate affected citizens and residents. In a statement released on 13 July 2025, the Ministry of Interior said that the Council reviewed the urgent measures previously taken and approved specific mechanisms that were immediately put into effect to ensure the prompt implementation of these high directives and contribute to addressing the impact of the incident.

MP Dr. Mariam Al-Dhaen affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him, continues its unwavering approach to resolving crises through dialogue and diplomatic means, in a manner that preserves regional and international security and stability. She noted that this approach is accompanied by integrated field work to ensure national preparedness and enhance the efficiency of the civil protection system. Al-Dhaen commended the advanced measures taken by the esteemed government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to enhance the level of preparedness and readiness to confront any emergency. She emphasized that His Royal Highness's recent visit to the Operations Room at the Prime Minister's Office and his close follow-up of the procedures and measures taken reflect the leadership's commitment to enhancing security and public safety in light of regional developments. She pointed out that government measures were not spur-of-the-moment, but were preceded by pioneering efforts and initiatives, most notably the launch of the National Civil Protection Platform, a unique project that reflects an advanced security culture combining all institutional and community efforts to create a safe environment and improve the quality of life for all. She also highlighted the "Aware Society" application, which includes unique services and features that enhance individuals' ability to respond and interact with various developments and constitute an advanced awareness and interactive tool in the field of community protection. Al Dhaen added that the Civil Defense Council, chaired by His Excellency Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, plays a pivotal role in strengthening preventive measures, raising the level of preparedness to confront potential risks, and increasing safety rates for all citizens and residents. She also commended the ongoing awareness and training campaigns implemented by Civil Defense across various institutions and agencies, which also included training for members of the Council of Representatives. This confirms that the concept of safety in Bahrain has become a shared responsibility between state institutions and society. Al Dhaen concluded her statement by emphasizing that the Kingdom of Bahrain represents an advanced model in crisis management governance, as clearly demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic. She emphasized the existence of firm confidence in its ability to confront challenges, achieve stability, and protect the gains achieved under the comprehensive development process.
