Emmerdale legend signs new contract ahead of major new storyline that will change the village forever

AN EMMERDALE legend has signed a new contract to take her into next year alongside a huge storyline for her character. Actress Claire King has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep her on the show for another year. 2 The star has played Kim Tate on and off since 1989, before quitting in 1999 and then making a bombshell comeback in 2018. Kim quickly re-established herself in the village as owner of Home Farm and has had some hugely dramatic storylines since returning. And this year will be no different with a massive one kicking off soon. A source said: 'Bosses love Claire and they are delighted that she's going nowhere. 'Kim Tate is one of the soap all time greats and it's only right that she has a massive storyline. 'It's going to delve into who Kim is and where she's come from and see her rediscover that grit that made her Kim Tate. 'She's going to stop at nothing to get what she wants - and make a few more enemies in the process as well as potentially changing the village forever." Viewers watched today as Kim suffered a blow when she discovered her new man Eddie was in fact the villainous Dr Crowley. He was blackmailing Joe Tate into stealing Kim's money for himself - and had planned to drug her into paralysis and take her assets. However when he tried to put his plan into place, Kim outwitted him and sent him packing - potentially for good. Emmerdale villain returns to torture Joe Tate in grisly scenes She told him: 'If you even try to mess with us again, they'll never find your body. Nothing personal, it's purely business.' An Emmerdale spokeswoman declined to comment. First appearing in 1989, Kim Tate (Claire King) is an iconic Emmerdale character. Here's a look at some of her biggest storylines over the years. MARRIAGE TO FRANK TATE Kim has been married three times in the soap, but her first, volatile pairing was with Frank Tate (Norman Bowler) They were an on-screen partnership for almost a decade - including divorcing and remarrying. However, Frank ultimately suffered a fatal heart attack, brought on by Kim's return to the village after being presumed dead. During the marriage, Kim had affairs with Neil Kincaid (Brian Deacon) and Dave Glover (Ian Kelsey). FAKING HER OWN DEATH Kim disappeared from the village in February 1997. A few days later, Frank identified a woman found dead at the wheel of her car as Kim. However, everyone was in for a shock after Kim revealed she was still alive - and the full extent of her plan. While she'd fled to the Caribbean, Kim had paid a lookalike prostitute to drive her car around the village to fool people into thinking she was still there. It was, in fact, her body that Frank previously identified. JAMES' KIDNAPPING Kim's business partnership with Lord Alex Oakwell (Rupam Maxwell), resulted in the death of Linda Fowler (Tonicha Jeronimo), in a car crash. As an act of revenge, Linda's mother Jan (Roberta Kerr) kidnapped Kim's son James. DEPARTURE After a decade of causing chaos, Kim left Emmerdale in 1999 as she fled in a helicopter with her son James and £190,000 of Chris Tate's money. LATER MARRIAGES Upon Kim's return in 2018, she was first revealed to be married to Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough). However, he was later killed off in a whodunnit storyline. She later pursued a relationship with her employee Will Taylor (Dean Andrews), marrying him in 2022.

Jet2 apologises after staff asked if woman was pregnant

An airport staff member will undergo 'retraining' for asking a woman if she was pregnant. Claire King, who is a size 12 and is not pregnant, said a Jet2 male gate agent had 'looked her up and down' before asking if she was 'expecting'. The 37-year-old, from Fife, Scotland, had been travelling on an early morning flight from Edinburgh Airport to Ibiza on June 7 with her parents and three-year-old daughter. The patient care adviser said she was left speechless and burst into tears before boarding the plane. Jet2 have apologised to Ms King and said sometimes their teams are 'required to ask customers questions for health and safety reasons' and the colleague involved 'will undergo retraining'. 'No woman should be asked' She said: 'He pulled me over and he said he'd been asked by his manager to come over and ask me if I was expecting. 'At the same time, he kind of looked me up and down. 'I didn't really know what to say. At that point, I turned around and I was like 'is that a serious question?' 'He put his hands up and was like 'okay, that's all I needed to know. Enjoy your holiday', and walked away. 'We were escorted back to the bus. We started to drive up towards the plane, I could feel myself welling up.' Ms King said that no woman should be asked the question if there is any doubt surrounding whether she is pregnant or not. She said: 'There was no explanation given as to why he even asked that question, what prompted the question, or how he came to that conclusion.' After giving birth to her daughter three years ago, Ms King says she 'carries a bit of timber', but is grateful for her body, which gave her 'the greatest gift'. 'It was my first holiday in 11 years, I was about to put my body into a swimsuit, perhaps into tighter fitting clothes. 'But for somebody to then come up and ask you that question, it does just make you think 'Is that how I look?'' A Jet2 spokesman said: 'We would like to reiterate our sincere apologies to Ms. King, which our team have also done directly. 'Whilst our teams might sometimes be required to ask customers questions for health and safety reasons, they are trained to handle this in an appropriate manner, and we recognise that this did not happen on this isolated occasion.'

Corrie and Emmerdale stars who have appeared in BOTH shows before epic crossover episode – how many do you remember?

CORONATION Street and Emmerdale are set to join forces for the very first time next year in an epic crossover episode. The unmissable stunt will see both soaps side-by-side for the first time, with consequences for the residents of both the Dales and Weatherfield. 14 But it's not the first time stars of the shows have appeared in both soaps - many have crossed over several times. Here's a list of soap stars that have made their presence known in both Corrie and Emmerdale: Claire King Claire King played the role of Kim Tate in Emmerdale from 1989 until 1999. She then took on the role of Erica Holroyd in Corrie from 2014 until 2017. In September 2018, Claire reprised her role as Kim Tate in Emmerdale after nearly 20 years away, for a special week of episodes in October 2018. She then returned permanently in 2019. She is known as one of the show's most iconic characters. Daniel Brocklebank 14 14 Daniel played the role of Ivan Jones in Emmerdale from 2005 to 2006, appearing in 107 episodes in total. Ivan was originally introduced as a minor role in a storyline about the character of Jarvis Skelton and was only meant to appear in three episodes. But he was kept on and was seen embarking on a relationship with Paul Lambert, the brother of Nicola King. More recently, Daniel took on the role of Billy Mayhew in Corrie in 2014 and has remained a regular on the soap ever since. He takes on the role as vicar at Emily Bishop's parish and dates barman Sean Tully on the soap. Chris Bisson 14 14 Chis is most known for his roles as Vikram Desai in Corrie from 1999 to 2002 and Jai Sharma in Emmerdale, which he joined in 2009. In Corrie, he portrayed Vikram, the cousin of Dev Alahan, but after a four-year stint, he decided to leave the show to relocate to Mumbai. In Emmerdale, Chris plays businessman Jai, who has taken on various storylines, including a bitter split from his wife Laurel. Rebecca Sarker 14 Rebecca played the role of Nita Desai in Corrie from 1999 to 2000. As her first acting role, she starred alongside now co-star Chris Bisson, who played her on-screen brother Vikram Desai. In her role, she was seen managing the Corner Shop and having a fling with Steve. She has since played Manpreet Sharma in Emmerdale from July 2018. Taking on the role as the village doctor, she has been at the centre of many major storylines, including being the sister of serial killer Meena Jutla. Zoe Henry 14 14 Zoe is most known for playing the role of Rhona Goskirk in Emmerdale but many forget that she also appeared on Corrie as Casey Carswell between March and September 2007. Zoe first showed up on the cobbles in 1998 as Log Thwaite, Spider Nugent's vegan girlfriend. Despite just appearing in six episodes, Zoe's character made quite the impression, especially when Toyah Battersby tricked her into eating a bacon sandwich. This ultimately led to Spider breaking up with her. In 2007 she returned as Casey Carswell, who became friends with Claire Peacock before having an affair with Claire's husband, Ashley. Meanwhile on Emmerdale, Zoe's character is currently involved in a dramatic storyline. Rhona's stepdaughter April Windsor suddenly went missing on Christmas Day. After her family was left fearing that she was dead for weeks, police discovered CCTV footage of her in Leeds. It is still unclear what happened to the girl, and viewers are worried her mysterious disappearance may be the result of a kidnapping. Sally Ann Matthews 14 14 Sally Ann is known for playing Jenny Bradley, daughter of the villainous Alan Bradley, in Corrie, from 1986 to 1991. She then joined the cast of Emmerdale in 2005 as farmers wife Sandra Briggs, but left less than a year later. In 2015, she returned to Corrie as Jenny. Ryan Prescott 14 14 Ryan is known for playing Ryan Connor in Corrie and Flynn Buchanan in Emmerdale. Ryan joined Corrie in 2018 and is part of a major storyline amid the acid attack on the soap and is stuck in a love triangle alongside Daisy Midgeley. Before this he had his first big soap role in Emmerdale in 2011, Ryan played Flynn Buchanan, a love interest for Aaron Dingle. The soap first, which will be broadcast in January 2026, teases that characters from both shows will depart and exciting new faces will join as the cast from each of the long-running ITV programmes come face-to-face for the first time. The hour-long episode is to mark the start of the new 'soap power hour' - a schedule change taking hold from early next year. Emmerdale and Corrie will each broadcast a 30-minute episode every-day back-to-back as part of the new programming changes with the huge stunt set to kickstart it all. ITV tease that the one-off mash-up will have "everlasting consequences for everyone involved" and will rock Weatherfield and the Dales forever. Both shows producers, scriptwriters and production teams have worked together to create the record-breaking episode with the impact then being felt as both programmes return to their own hubs for months to come. Bosses from both shows also say that whilst the soaps will only be seen on-screen together for the one episode, the communities will be forever linked as a result of the as-yet undisclosed stunt. There will also be an interactive twist for fans to determine one part of the episode. A vote will be opened allowing soap fans to choose which Emmerdale and Coronation Street character will share a carefully-written scene together as part of the episode. The schedule change sees both soaps lose one episode a week amid dwindling ratings. Both programmes currently enjoy six outings a week but this will be down to just five following the epic stunt episode. Emmerdale will air at 8pm followed by new episodes of Corrie at 8:30pm. The programmes will continue to upload their episodes to ITVX at 7am each morning. 14

The Least Expected "Moist Maker" For Chocolate Cake: We Swear By Putting This Burger Condiment In Cake Batter

As with many things in life, mayonnaise is more than the sum of its parts. And the magic that happens when eggs, acid, and oil come together is exactly why you should be adding it to your cake batter. (Spoiler alert: It's not just because mayo is fatty and creamy, although that never hurts.) Mayonnaise is a stable emulsion created by combining eggs and vinegar with oil. Unlike most proteins, the structures in eggs can bind with both water and oil molecules, enabling a thick and velvety texture that isn't greasy. Adding the unique fat-suspending properties of mayonnaise to your wet ingredients helps them thoroughly coat the flour particles in the batter, essentially trapping the dry ingredients in fat. On their own, oil and egg are key ingredients in many cake recipes: oil helps create a soft texture, while eggs provide structure. But, these ingredients are stronger together (and do more for your batter) when emulsified into mayonnaise. That's why Claire King's recipe for The Best Chocolate Cake uses butter for fat, eggs for protein, and mayonnaise for an extra boost of both — and that special food science X-factor. It's the condiment that keeps on giving. The vinegar in mayonnaise can also help improve your cake-making. As you may know, baking soda is a common leavener for cakes and many baked goods, and baking soda needs acid to activate and create the air bubbles that make cakes rise. The vinegar in mayonnaise boosts the batter's acidity slightly, helping the baking soda work more effectively for an evenly light and fluffy cake. Grandmas and pastry chefs alike swear by this trick for ultra-moist cake layers. But if you're still skeptical, just download the free Tasty app and scroll through the thousands of users who raved about our ultimate mayonnaise-wielding chocolate cake recipe.
