Fact check: Video shows incident where passengers evacuated from train
A widely shared video on social media showed people smashing the windows to a London Underground train. It was shared with the caption 'London vibes.' Evaluation The video has been shared with no context. While the poster does not directly make a specific claim, a casual viewer could easily think the video shows vandalism on the tube. In fact the video shows people smashing windows of a train which was filling with a burning smell so those inside could get out. The facts The video was shared to YouTube by an account which merely posted it with the caption 'London vibes'. The video was filmed in London, as is evident by the livery on the train. A report from the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) shows that the incident happened in May 2023. The report includes a screenshot from the social media video which a reverse image search suggests was first uploaded on May 5, 2023. The RAIB report shows the incident happened at Clapham Common underground station on the Northern Line. Passengers onboard smelled burning and smashed their way out of the train when the doors did not open. The RAIB report states: 'The passengers, believing that they were in danger by remaining on the train, self-evacuated from the train through bodyside windows and inter-car gaps.' In the video posted to social media it is obvious that passengers are trying to get off the train. The overhead screens also read 'Emergency. Please leave the station immediately.' The screen also showed the time as around 5.46pm.

Moment teenage vandal breaks windscreen of police car in London
This is the moment a young thug jumps on the bonnet of a police car and stamps on its windscreen in south London. The patrol vehicle was attacked in Rookery Road near Clapham Common at around 6.20pm on Saturday. One teenage boy in a white top, black and orange shorts, white socks and trainers is seen vandalising the car. A large crowd of about 50 youngsters cheer him on, film the incident on mobile phones and then join in the altercation. Happened a couple of days ago at a Battersea BP garage — London & UK Street News (@CrimeLdn) June 17, 2025 A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: 'The car was so badly damaged, with the windscreen smashed after somebody jumped on the bonnet and kicked the glass, that it cannot be used. 'Thankfully, no officers were injured and the group were dispersed at approximately 8.15pm.' Inspector Darren Watson, from the local neighbourhood policing team, added: 'One of our marked police vehicles, a vital asset in responding and protecting our community, was deliberately damaged. 'This has rendered the vehicle completely unusable and means there is one less police car available to respond to calls for help. 'Those responsible have shown a complete disregard for the local community. 'If you have any information regarding this incident or the identity of those responsible, I urge you to come forward. The information could be the crucial piece of the investigation that helps us identify the suspect and bring them to justice.' Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101, quoting reference 01/7614619/25, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Top Gear's 'fourth member' is handed driving ban after Porsche clocked speeding at 4mph over 20mph limit
A Top Gear producer has been banned from driving for six months after he was clocked driving 4mph above a 20mph limit in his Porsche Macan. Described as the driving show's 'fourth member', Andy Wilman, 62, was handed the disqualification after racking up his fourth speeding conviction in three years. The TV producer helped reboot the popular motor programme in 2002, before launching the Amazon Prime Video show, The Grand Tour, with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. The 62-year-old, who is now working on Clarkson's Farm in the Cotswolds, was caught exceeding the 20mph speeding limit on The Avenue, near Clapham Common on December 23, 2024. Wilman, who had been convicted four times for driving offences, was disqualified for a half a year after accumulating 12 points on his licence. His earlier offences happened on 5 January 2022, 5 September 2023 and 29 September 2024, the Lavender Hill Magistrates Court was told. Prosecuting, Sarah Will, said: 'The very simple facts are that on Dec 23 at 9.08am a speed camera was triggered by a Porsche Macan on the A205 road, on The Avenue near Windmill Drive. 'This road was subject to a 20mph speed limit – the speed camera was triggered by the vehicle doing 24mph.' Wilman, of Wandsworth, admitted to exceeding a 20mph speed limit. Magistrate John Tomkins said: 'We have heard facts from the prosecutor - because you've pleaded guilty to this offence a further three points has been added to your licence. 'As a starting point the magistrates will have to disqualify you from driving for a minimum of six months.' Asked whether he wanted to provide evidence of 'exceptional hardship' as a means to contest his disqualification Wilman replied: 'No I couldn't claim that. I accept things as they are. '20mph is a tough one, but you must have heard that many times - but yes, it is as it is, I have nothing to query or challenge,' he added. After confirming his yearly income was £443,000 after tax, Wilman was ordered to pay £1,042 in total comprising of a £666 fine, £266 surcharge and costs of £110.
