Why so many home sellers are pulling listings off the market

out with some new data, US home delistings surging nearly 50% as the housing affordability crunch continues. And joining us for more is Yahoo Finance's senior housing reporter, Clare Boston, Claire.
Hi Josh. So what we are seeing right now is just an absolute standstill between buyers and sellers. Right now buyers are really, really stretched in terms of affordability, and sellers, you know, they still kind of think it's 2021. They think in this market today that they are going to be able to get absolutely top dollar. But we are seeing more inventory come to market, and as a result, buyers have more to choose from. And sellers, you know, they have a lot of equity in their homes. If they don't have to move, a lot of them are opting to just delist now instead of, you know, maybe taking a lower price, uh, you know, and they they want to wait for that really, really big number.
And I know, Claire, you're doing some more reporting, homes falling out of contract. What can you tell us about that?
Yeah, so I think when we're looking at out of contracts, so that's the situation where you go pending and then something doesn't work out. It's a very similar situation. Uh, buyers and sellers often can't meet on things like repairs. And sometimes the buyer will just say, okay, we're going to walk away now, uh, because they have other things to choose from. We're also seeing issues with getting insurance, you know, we've talked a lot about insurance being an issue right now, causing home sales to fall through. You know, that is probably not going to change anytime soon and that can really stall a deal.
