Actor Freida Pinto shared a heartfelt note on social media about celebrating the achievements within the South Asian community instead of bringing our own people down. She defended actor Deepika Padukone over the debate on her being one of the honouries for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of expressed her views on Padukone being recognised in the Motion Pictures category in her Instagram story. She wrote, "To my fellow South Asians- Let's celebrate our own and not bring them down, please. News like this should make us feel proud to see a hardworking, talented Indian woman of substance being celebrated on a global platform (sic)." She expressed her emotions in her Instagram story and captioned it as "Gratitude..." Padukone is the first Indian female actor to get the honour. Prior to her, Sabu Dastagir received the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Dastagir was the son of an elephant mahout who featured in American director Robert Flaherty's film 'Elephant Boy' (1937).Previously, Mindy Kaling became the first South Asian woman to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of on the work front, Padukone will next be seen in Shah Rukh Khan's 'King', alongside Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Saurabh Shukla, Raghav Juyal, and Abhay film is directed by Siddharth Anand and is tentatively set for a theatrical release on Gandhi Jayanti also recently joined Allu Arjun's pan-India sci-fi film 'AA22xA6'.
