Supermodel Claudia Schiffer's film-maker husband in talks to invest in Premier League club
The husband of supermodel Claudia Schiffer is in talks to invest in a Premier League club. The producer and director married Schiffer in 2002, and has been involved in films such as Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - which was brought to life by Guy Ritchie and featured former footballer Vinnie Jones. Schiffer was seen at Brentford 's game against Nottingham Forest in December and has four children with Matthew Vaughn - two sons and two daughters - and the duo have resided at Coldham Hall, Stanningfield, Suffolk, since 2002. Now, reports suggest that Vaughn is in talks to buy a minority stake in Premier League side Brentford alongside South African businessman Gary Lubner. According to The Sun, reports suggest that Bees owner Matthew Benham could be open to selling some of his shares in the London-based club. It is estimated that he would be willing to sell up to 20 per cent. He is thought to value the club at £400million and would sell shares for between £40m and £80mm, depending on how many were sold. Under Benham, Brentford have climbed from League one to the Premier League, as well as moved stadiums since he took over in 2014. It is thought, though, that acknowledges that outside investment is necessary if the club are to continue progressing. The production company that Vaughn owns alongside his wife announced a profit of £77.4m in its latest accounts. He is also the former CEO of Belron - the owners of Autoglass - and has been a major donor to the Labour party in recent times, having reportedly donated £4.5m in 2023 alone. German Schiffer, meanwhile, rose to fame in the 1990s when she attained supermodel status. Her career started when she met Michel Levaton, the CEO of Metropolitan Models, aged 17 in a Dusseldorf nightclub. In her personal life, she was previously engaged to American magician David Copperfield, with their relationship ending in 1999. Brentford, meanwhile, lost manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham this summer, with star man Bryan Mbeumo of serious interest to Manchester United.

Matthew Vaughn, 54, is best known for producing Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - the gangland caper that featured former footballer Vinnie Jones. 5 The British producer and director married former supermodel Schiffer in 2002. Schiffer, 54, was spotted in the posh seats at the Gtech Community Stadium alongside their two daughters for Brentford's home defeat to Nottingham Forest in December 2024. Now Vaughn is said to be working with South African businessman Gary Lubner on buying a minority stake in the Bees. Brentford declined to comment. But reports claim owner Matthew Benham would be willing to sell between ten and 20 per cent of his shares for £40million to £80m, valuing the club at £400m. Gambling and statistics mogul Benham has spent more than £100m of his own money transforming Brentford. The Bees have climbed from League One to the top half of the Premier League and opened a new stadium since he took full control of the club in 2014. But Benham is understood to recognise that outside investment will be necessary if Brentford are to continue to thrive and develop. The Bees have already seen boss Thomas Frank leave for Tottenham and are set to lose another star player, Bryan Mbeumo, this summer. Extra cash would give them a better chance of competing with rivals on wages and transfer fees. Why Thomas Frank is the PERFECT manager for Tottenham Vaughn, who also directed Layer Cake and X Men: First Class, would bring some showbiz glamour to Brentford - whose current shirt sponsor is Hollywoodbet. He is also rich. The production company he co-owns with Schiffer, Marv Studios, revealed a profit of £77.4m in its last accounts. But Lubner is a more wealthy and controversial figure. He is the former CEO of Belron, the owners of Autoglass, and is one of the biggest donors to the Labour Party during the leadership of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
