33 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs unveiled
New Delhi In a major step toward strengthening the capital's healthcare system, the Delhi government inaugurated 33 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and 17 Jan Aushadhi Kendras on Tuesday, offering citizens improved access to affordable and quality healthcare. The large-scale launch was held across multiple locations in Delhi and NCR, with various state and central government leaders participating in the ceremonial rollouts. The inauguration ceremony began at 9:00 AM and continued for about an hour, as leaders from the Delhi government and the Centre attended events at different sites. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the Ayushman Arogya Mandir built behind the Delhi Bar Association office at the Tis Hazari Court complex. Simultaneously, PWD Minister Pravesh Verma inaugurated two centers—one at the dispensary on Babar Road and another at Sarojini Nagar, both located in his New Delhi constituency. The event sparked political backlash from the opposition. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the BJP of rebranding existing infrastructure rather than creating new facilities. Posting on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, 'Mohalla Clinics and dispensaries built by the Kejriwal government are simply being painted and renamed as new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.' Several other leaders also participated in the statewide rollout. Tourism and Law Minister Kapil Mishra launched the Arogya Mandir in Khajuri Khas, part of his Karawal Nagar constituency. Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra unveiled the new center in Geeta Colony, East Delhi, while Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh inaugurated a facility at the old Barat Ghar in Gupta Enclave. Delhi's Home, Education and Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood opened the Janakpuri center at the SS Mota Community Center in A Block. In addition, North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari inaugurated the Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Yamuna Vihar B Block, and MP Praveen Khandelwal opened another one in AP Block, Shalimar Bagh. These new health centers are part of the BJP-led Delhi government's broader plan to set up 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the capital. These upgraded health units are envisioned as a more advanced alternative to the Mohalla Clinics introduced by the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Unlike Mohalla Clinics, the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are equipped to offer diagnostic services, treatment for common ailments, and minor surgical procedures, providing a more comprehensive healthcare model. Speaking at the inauguration in Tis Hazari, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta did not hold back her criticism of the previous administration. She described the earlier Mohalla Clinic model as 'corrupt and inefficient,' stating that many were constructed in porta cabins where doctors were paid on a per-patient basis, allegedly leading to inflated numbers and mismanagement. She referenced findings from the CAG report, which she claimed revealed major irregularities in the AAP's healthcare programs. Gupta also pointed out that ₹2,400 crore in central government grants for Delhi's healthcare sector had been sanctioned five years ago but remained underutilized due to alleged inaction by the previous government. 'We now have just eight months to complete the work that should have been done in five years. If we fail to complete these projects by March, the funds will lapse,' she said.

Delhi: BJP repackaged our clinics as Arogya Mandirs, says AAP
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday responded to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) claim of having built 31 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs as a key achievement during its first 100 days in power, saying these were actually repackaged Mohalla Clinics established under the AAP government. The AAP's Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Chirag Delhi in south Delhi, which the BJP said was built in the last 100 days, is actually a dispensary built by the AAP. 'For the last five years, the BJP made grandiose claims that if they came to power, the central government would give massive funds. But in reality, they've just taken old Mohalla Clinics, painted them, renamed them as 'Ayushman Arogya Mandirs', and now they are selling that as their achievement. The BJP has no intention of doing any real work. They are merely repainting and repackaging the initiatives done by the AAP. Earlier people used to receive proper medicines in these clinics. Now, under the BJP's so-called Ayushman Arogya Mandir model, even basic medicines are not available,' said Bharadwaj. Earlier in the day, the AAP said that a group of women party workers were detained by police outside Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium when they protested against the government for not rolling out the ₹2,500 monthly scheme for women. In a post on X, the AAP said, 'Can women in Delhi no longer even ask for their rights? Chief minister Rekha Gupta, today when the women of Delhi came to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to ask you about their ₹2,500, your Delhi Police responded with brutality. If you never intended to fulfil your promise, why did you make it in the first place? You will not be able to silence the voices of Delhi's women through the might of your police.' AAP women's wing president Sarika Chaudhary said, 'The BJP had promised ₹2,500 to Delhi women in its government's first cabinet meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself said during a rally that Delhi's women would receive ₹2,500. Now the BJP is going back on its word. Not a single woman in Delhi has received the ₹2,500 yet. The BJP has made a fool of the women of Delhi.' In response, deputy commissioner of police (south) Ankit Chauhan said that 30 women workers of the AAP were detained. 'We detained them because they were organising a protest without taking a formal permission for the same. They were removed, taken to a police station, where they were let go,' said Chauhan. Hitting back at the AAP, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, 'The AAP was an AAPda when in power, and remains an AAPda in opposition. While in power, they deceived the women of Delhi and Punjab in the name of the women's financial assistance scheme and today they continue to mislead the public. The BJP government will soon begin disbursing the financial assistance to women. The government has already made a provision for ₹5,100 crore for the scheme in the budget.'

Maryam accuses Imran of unleashing chaos
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday took a swipe at PTI founder Imran Khan for unleashing politics of chaos in the country. She also accused the former prime minister of taking Pakistan to the brink of default, while crediting the PML-N's governments in the Centre and Punjab for putting the country on the track of progress. "Gone are the days when only bad news emanated from Pakistan. Now bad news only comes from Adiala Jail from where there is an influx of letters these days seeking forgiveness," Maryam said addressing a large gathering at Narowal district of Punjab. Imran Khan has been detained at Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail since September 2023. In the past week, the PTI founder wrote a series of open letters to the army chief in what was regarded by some as a calculated move to present the PTI's narrative. During her speech, Maryam claimed that the economy was left in dire straits by the PTI government which expected that the PML-N led government would not be able to stabilize it, leading to a default. "The PTI wanted Pakistan to become Sri Lanka," she said in a reference to the neighboring country which defaulted on its foreign debt in April 2022. Referring to Imran's wife Bushra Bibi and her friend Farah Gogi, Maryam claimed that the PTI tenure was "a tale of unending corruption by Gogi and Pinky Pirni [Bushra], who turned Punjab into a pile of garbage". During the PTI's rule, she said, friendly countries became alienated from Pakistan. "Their blue-eyed boys indulged in massive loot and plunder. No work was done without bribery in the entire Punjab. All bribes went to Gogi and Pinki," she alleged. The Punjab CM accused Imran of teaching violence to the children of the nation "while his own children were living the luxury life in London". She said PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif used to ask people not to be misled by the lies of the PTI founder. The CM said she had come to Narowal to seek a stamp of approval from her people on her performance. "I did not wait for five years nor did I use mismanagement of the previous government as an excuse," she said, adding that due to the PML-N government's efforts the inflation had come down to 5%. "The price of roti was Rs25 during the PTI's rule. Now the price of roti is only Rs12. There was talk of a severe economic crisis but now the statistics show that the economy has taken off," she said. She said streets, neighborhoods, roads and cities are being cleaned under the Suthra Punjab programme. "Under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme, monthly installments of houses will be equal to house rents. Under the programme, we will provide loans to the people. 10,000 tractors have been given to the farmers at a subsidized price. "Himmat cards are being given to 60,000 differently-abled people. Under the minority card, Rs10,500 will be given after every 3 months." She said 1,250 basic health centres in Punjab have been revamped and converted into Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics according to European standards. 250,000 patients are getting free medicine at their doorsteps. "The projects of Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital and Sargodha Institute of Cardiology are going to be completed soon. "Field hospitals are going to villages every day and providing treatment facilities to thousands of people. "30,000 talented students have received Honhaar scholarships and its number will be increased up to 50,000. I am bringing one lakh laptops for students soon," she announced. She said 36-km long Narowal-Shakargarh Road was completed in one year while 75-km long Muridke to Narowal road was completed in a short period of three months The CM said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif remain busy in serving the people day and night. "If today is better than yesterday, tomorrow will hopefully be better than today. I promise to the people that I will work day and night in their service. With hard work and dedication, I have improved the lives of the people." She inaugurated two road projects worth over Rs2 billion. She also laid the foundation stones of the Narowal Medical College project and the Children's Learning Park for Narowal. The CM also laid the foundation stone of 75-km-long Narowal-Muridke Road Phase II. 400 km of roads will be constructed and repaired in Narowal at a cost of Rs28 billion.
