Find out what's new on ST website and app. On, the Swiss purveyor of funky-looking running shoes, opened its first local store on July 11 at Jewel Changi Airport. Cult sportswear brand On's Singapore flagship On, the Swiss purveyor of funky-looking running shoes, opened its first local store on July 11 at Jewel Changi Airport. Singapore is the second South-east Asian city where the performance-meets-aesthetic brand has set up a permanent base, after Jakarta. The first floor of the new 9,300 sq ft duplex is dedicated to its athletic range, like bestseller models the Cloudmonster (from $269) and Cloudrunner (from $239). On, founded in 2010, is known for its signature cushioning technology that gives its trainers the telltale 'hole-punched' look and bouncing-on-clouds feel that fans swear by. What began as a mostly Swiss following has, from 2021, gained rapid international ardour. In the centre is a wall of shoes, arranged in cubby hole-like drawers that can be pulled out to access the stock kept behind it. The new flagship is also the first in the world to showcase the brand's latest tie-up with Hollywood A-lister Zendaya. The 'Zendaya edit' includes a modish blue-grey jumpsuit, boleros and a backless tennis dress. In sum, the sort of sleek apparel that the fashion-forward star would lend her name to. Diesel x Melissa capsule collection Jelly shoe brand Melissa and uber-trendy fashion label Diesel team up for a capsule collection of three shoes. PHOTO: MELISSA/DIESEL Jelly shoe brand Melissa and uber-trendy fashion label Diesel make an odd, but not unlikable, couple. The two names have teamed up for a capsule collection of three shoes. The Quantum Thong, Quantum Platform and Quantum Sneaker X – released on July 15 – fuse Melissa's bubbly look and pop art charm with Diesel's futuristic sensibility. The 'sneaker' ($499) resembles a nautilus in profile and a reimagined duck's foot from the top-down. Coming in red, black or clear green, the model is the loudest statement piece of the latest collection and is meant to be genderless. The Quantum Thong flip flop ($199) is the most muted of the bunch with its classic low-heeled, Y-strapped shape. Available in four colours, the 100 per cent PVC make of the shoes gives the familiar style a punky, clear look. The Quantum Platform ($299), in three colours, is a chunky, open-toe number, with soles more rounded than typical and sporting the same wave-forms as the sneaker model. A notch in the centre of the sole creates a D-shaped 'hole' underfoot, obliquely recalling Diesel's monogram. It is a clever blend of two striking aesthetics – one cutesy, the other sulkily cool. Singapore runners, rejoice: On opens store at Jewel as Asia revenues soar
[SINGAPORE] Any runner in Singapore will tell you this: Scoring a pair of On shoes in recent months has been a minor sport in itself. The Swiss sportswear brand, known for its cloud-like soles and slick minimalist designs, has become a breakout hit across running clubs and TikTok feeds. Social media traction has exploded, thanks to performance-forward models such as the Cloudmonster and fashion-friendly lines like the Cloudnova. Yet, walk into a shoe store such as RL2 by Running Lab or JD Sports – and you are likely to hear the sales assistant say: 'Sold out already.' Well, runners need not fret any more. On's flagship store in Singapore's Jewel Changi Airport is a gateway into the South-east Asian market. PHOTO: ON On has opened its first South-east Asia flagship store at Jewel Changi Airport – a two-storey, 9,300 square foot store that offers the full suite of On gear: from high-performance footwear and warm-weather training apparel to its lifestyle silhouettes and even a kids' collection. For the 15-year-old brand, the Singapore flagship is 'a strategic response to rising demand' and a way to deepen the brand's long-term presence in the region, said On CEO Martin Hoffman. It was created in partnership with Gill Capital, the Singapore-based regional operator for several international brands such as COS, H&M and Hershey's. The launch comes at a time of record-breaking growth for the Zurich-headquartered On. In 2024, On's revenue in Asia-Pacific grew 84 per cent to 260 million Swiss francs. In Q1 2025, it surged another 130 per cent year-on-year to 120.6 million Swiss francs (S$193.8 million), making Apac the company's highest-growth region by year-on-year performance. A NEWSLETTER FOR YOU Friday, 2 pm Lifestyle Our picks of the latest dining, travel and leisure options to treat yourself. Sign Up Sign Up On CEO Martin Hoffman says Asia-Pacific is a primary focus, thanks to a stunning sales surge. PHOTO: ON Globally, On generated 2.32 billion Swiss francs in revenue in 2024, up 29 per cent from the previous year. Net profit more than tripled to 242 million Swiss francs. Hoffmann expects that a 'significant portion of our future growth will be driven by markets outside our more established regions', adding: 'Asia-Pacific is a primary focus – and we're just at the beginning of our journey here.' Inspired by Singapore's coastal running routes, the Singapore store's facade and interior mimic the movement of light bouncing off the sea and skyline, as seen through the eyes of a runner. Curved walls, kinetic lighting and greenery-inspired textures evoke motion and airiness. The flagship is split into two levels: Level one features hero products such as the Cloudmonster and Cloudrunner, as well as the Zendaya x On Zone Dreamers training collection. Level two houses casual models such as the Cloudtilt, performance tennis gear co-designed with Roger Federer, and a compact kids collection which signals On's family-friendly direction. The On store design is inspired by Singapore's coastal running routes. PHOTO: ON Beyond Singapore, On already operates a test store in Jakarta and is preparing to launch in Bangkok. Markets including Malaysia and the Philippines are under active consideration. 'Our strategy isn't about planting flags on a map,' Hoffmann told The Business Times. 'We grow thoughtfully, with the right partners and the right community. Whether it's direct to consumer or strategic local partnerships, it's about offering premium experiences with precision.' Currently, On has a presence in 80 countries. Hoffman added that while demand is high, supply will remain intentionally limited. 'We never discount. We don't chase volume. Even if we see that there is a strong momentum, we will always work through a protected supply. And we will not flood the market.' The store will also host the On Run Clun Singapore for running enthusiasts. PHOTO: ON The Jewel store will also serve as home base for the On Run Club Singapore, hosting weekly group runs, form clinics, injury prevention workshops and athlete meet-ups. 'Movement is a universal language,' said Hoffmann. 'And Singapore – with its vibrant fitness culture – is the perfect place to speak it.' One catch: On's sustainability programme Cyclon – a recyclable, subscription-based running shoe – is not yet available here due to logistical limitations of serving a small market like Singapore. Such a programme requires 'scale and infrastructure', Hoffmann noted. For now at least, the Singapore runners who have been chasing restocks for months can finally slip into the Clouds.

On Running Just Marked Down 12 Best-selling Styles in an Early Fourth of July Sale—Save Up to 40% Right Now
As someone who's spent a majority of her career writing about health and fitness, I know a thing or two about what makes a good sneaker. It all comes down to design, which is something On has mastered. From their cushiony midsoles to grippy outsoles, all On sneakers are built to be supportive and stable, and more importantly, to feel comfortable. They quite literally do make you feel like you're walking on a cloud, which makes them ideal for long travel days or trips where you'll be getting a lot of movement in. Some On shoes can be quite a splurge, though, which is why we're excited about On's early Fourth of July sale where you can grab some of the brand's bestsellers for up to 40 percent off. From hiking shoes to walking shoes, there are a ton of discounts on top-rated styles across Zappos, REI, and the sneaker brand's website. If you're looking for comfy sneakers that won't clash with your trip 'fits, I've got you covered. Here are the 12 best On shoe deals right now. $170 $128 at Zappos $170 $135 at If you love a bouncy shoe, you'll be a fan of the Cloudmonster's forward-rolling sole. The sneaker is one of On's most cushioned shoes, and is designed with a rocker shape that delivers energy return with each step (a springiness that lets you go longer before feeling fatigued while running). Despite its thick, cushioned sole, the sneaker is light and breathable with a soft sockliner that makes it comfy to wear on daily runs or long travel days. The Cloudmonster is a solid shoe, whether you prefer running slow or fast, since its proprietary CloudTec cushioning helps propel you forward with each step. $160 $120 at REI $160 $110 at Designed with a similar cushioned design as the Cloudmonster, but made for the trails, the Cloudsurfer Trail can handle all the terrain you'll be encountering on your next adventure. Its grippy sole offers traction and durability on both wet and dry surfaces, allowing you to run with more confidence, even during rainy weather. The sneaker's 'Helion' superfoam midsole also delivers shock absorption, keeping your feet comfortable through the duration of your run. Its flexible, soft-mesh upper also makes it a breathable and lightweight option that helps keep your feet in a natural path of motion (it won't feel like you're dragging your feet towards their next step). $160 $120 at Zappos $160 $110 at Perfect for running through the terminal to catch your next flight, On's Cloudnova 2 delivers a smooth ride, thanks to its wide middle bootie and stable heel pillow. These allow the sneaker to feel comfortable for longer periods of time, and help you move faster, too. The shoe never feels too stiff, either. That's because it's designed with On's Speedboard, a supportive and flexible plate in the midsole that delivers energy return and better speed. Right now, these sneakers are at the lowest price they've been in 30 days. One of On's bestsellers, the Cloudstratus 3, is more cushiony and comfortable than its predecessors. A great option for walking tours or trips where you'll be racking up your steps, its foam midsole allows for plush landings, and its collar and tongue design provide all-day comfort. The sneakers are also made with a rubber outsole that allows the shoe to remain grippy on all surfaces, a plus if you're traversing through shiny museum floors or wet city streets. Currently down 40 percent, this is one of the best deals on this list. If you never skip a training day, even while traveling, the On Cloudpulse is a great sneaker to pack along with your other trip essentials. It's designed with a Speedboard that's thick in the middle and thinner in the front. This keeps the shoe flexible but supportive enough to offer stability during HIIT workouts and circuit training. Its sweat-wicking mesh upper keeps airflow going, so your feet don't overheat during tough workouts. Even better, despite being so supportive, the shoe is a lightweight option perfect for cardio and sprints, too. Designed with a sleeker silhouette than some of On's other shoes, the Cloud X 4 AD is a great option for pairing with your casual vacation outfits, including those cute summer dresses, but you can take them to the gym, too. The sneaker's star-shaped lacing keeps it secure on your feet, and its roomy toe box and breathable mesh upper keep it comfy and dry all day. The white colorway option can make a great addition to your arsenal of white sneakers. Whether you're training for your next race or plan on running to make tight connections, the Cloudsurfer Next can help get you there faster. The lightweight and cushioned shoe is designed with a rocker shape silhouette that propels you forward with less effort. Its flexible midsole collapses with every step, making for smooth heel-to-toe transitions. You'll also love that the shoe provides great traction. The rubber pads on its outsole makes the sneaker super grippy no matter how fast you're moving. The Cloudsurfer Next is also at the lowest price it's been in 30 days. $170 $127 at REI $170 $100 at Made to tackle moderate terrain and perfect for long walks, the On Cloudhorizon shoe is designed with a pillowy, plush feel that makes it comfy for extended wear. The sneakers are made with On's CloudTec Phase, which reduces foot fatigue by making weight transfer from heel to toe a lot smoother. Its Missiongrip rubber outsole can also handle wet and dry surfaces, so that you feel secure even in wet weather. Best of all, the shoe is both supportive and durable, so its construction remains intact no matter how often you pack it. Designed for walking, On's Cloudtilt sneaker is the perfect everyday walking shoe. It's designed with an elastic lacing system, which allows you to simply slip these on, though you can toy around with the laces to get a tighter fit, if needed. The shoe's ultra-cushioned midsole prevents hard landings and makes energy return a priority, keeping foot fatigue at bay for longer. It's the perfect shoe for city adventures or long days on your feet. The Cloudswift 3 is designed to be comfy on an array of foot shapes. Its forward-rolling design delivers energy return to make it easier to move forward. Though cushioned, this shoe is a little stiffer than other options on the list, but it provides a comfortable and secure fit. Its stiffer fit makes it a lot more stable, though, so it's a great everyday choice for those looking for a more supportive shoe. You can wear this one on your runs, too, since the rocker-shaped forefront can help you move faster. If you're looking for a shoe that can do it all, the On Cloudpulse is your perfect fit. Just like the men's option, the women's Cloudpulse is a light and bouncy shoe that'll keep your feet supported through everything from walking to weightlifting. It's made with a reinforced mesh upper that gives the shoe structure and stability, while keeping it breathable. Plus, at least 20 percent of the shoe is made from recycled material, so this shoe gets a few bonus points for keeping sustainability in mind, too. While the On The Roger Advantage 1 shoes are technically made for tennis, the tenniscore fashion trend is still a thing, making this pair a stylish choice whether you plan on playing a match or not. They're made with thick soles and repositioned grooves that make the shoe flexible, meaning they bend along with your feet. The forefront of the shoe is also made with extra cushioning to keep it comfortable on long walks and beyond. Its polished look will make it a good complement to your vacation wardrobe. 1 year later, are the On Cloudmonster Hyper shoes still worth it? I laced them up to find out
The On Cloudmonster Hyper first landed in March 2024, and I've finally laced up these running shoes for a proper test run. Or rather, several runs over the past two months. As someone who loved the original Cloudmonster, I was excited to see how this sleeker, speedier design would stack up. The Hyper is designed as a more performance-focused take on the popular max-cushion daily trainer, aiming to deliver extra bounce and responsiveness thanks to premium foam tech. But is it really worth the $225 price tag? Here's my honest take after putting this shoe through its paces. At $220, the Cloudmonster Hyper is a pricier running shoe. But you're paying for a bold design and a special type of foam that feels both cushioned and springy underfoot. The Cloudmonster Hyper looks fast. With a bold, sculpted design and sleek silhouette, it has the attitude of a race shoe even if it doesn't quite feel like one on the run. I tested the women's version in the red (it's more pink than red) and cream colorway and really fell for the look. The black detailing made it surprisingly easy to match with my running outfits, especially black shorts, leggings and sports bras. That's not something I can say for most bright or neon-colored running shoes on the market. If red and cream isn't your style, the Hyper also comes in a few other colorways, including a grey (Glacier/Ivory) and black (Iron/Black) in the women's version and a white (Silver/Iron), black (Black/Lima) and grey (Glacier/Ivory) in the men's version of the shoe It's a shoe that looks ready to eat up fast miles, and visually, On has nailed the balance between performance and style. But, while the design shouts race day, the feel underfoot leans more toward plush daily miles than lightweight speedwork. If you're not deep into running shoe lingo, here's a quick breakdown. The Cloudmonster Hyper is based on the Cloudmonster 2, but swaps in a unique kind of foam to make it feel lighter and bouncier underfoot. Foam is the squishy stuff in the sole of your shoe, the bit between your foot and the ground. It absorbs shock, provides comfort and can give a little spring to your step. In the Hyper, On replaces its regular foam (called Helion) with a lighter, more high-tech version called Helion HF in the top layer. It's made from Pebax, a material also used in elite racing shoes like the On Cloudboom Echo 3, and is designed to help you move more efficiently. I hadn't tried the Cloudmonster 2, but I was a fan of the original Cloudmonster. That shoe was big, soft and fun to run in. So I was curious to see how the Hyper compared. The Cloudmonster Hyper is a comfortable shoe, no doubt about it. The generous cushioning and slightly firm feel give it a sense of durability and support that's great for easy miles and recovery runs. The rocker design (that's the gentle curve through the sole) helps roll you forward with each step, keeping things pretty smooth and steady. I really wanted this shoe to tick all the boxes, especially because I love how they look on. But while it works for comfort and everyday runs, it didn't feel especially light or quick when I picked up the pace. It's meant to be the more responsive version of the Cloudmonster 2, but for me, it still carries some of that big, max-cushioned bulk. If you're after a shoe for steady, feel-good miles, the Hyper delivers. For a true all-rounder, I've found other daily trainers, like the Asics Novablast 5, to be a little more versatile and much cheaper. Here's where things get tricky. The Cloudmonster Hyper costs $220 in the US and £210 in the UK. That's very expensive for a daily training shoe and more than some carbon-plated race shoes, which are usually considered the high-end of the running shoe market. For that price, I expected a shoe that could handle all types of runs: long, easy and a bit of speed, too. But for me, it didn't quite tick every box. If you're mostly running easy miles and love On's bold look and feel, this might suit you fine. But if you're shopping for one all-purpose daily trainer or a shoe to really get you going on speedier runs, I think there's better value to be found elsewhere. The Cloudmonster Hyper is a super-cushioned shoe with a stylish edge. It uses fancy foam to add some pep to your stride, but it doesn't feel dramatically different from other big-cushion trainers and definitely not like a race-day shoe. For me, it didn't live up to the 'Hyper' name in terms of speed or lightness. But I genuinely enjoyed running in these shoes for slow, steady miles and I loved the look. If price isn't a dealbreaker and you love the look, it's worth considering. But if you want better value, you might want to explore other max-cushioned trainers that offer more versatility for less money.
