CF Montréal acquires Efrain Morales from Atlanta United
Club de Foot Montreal CF Montréal announced on Wednesday it has acquired defender Efrain Morales from Atlanta United. Atlanta gets $450,000 in 2025 general allocation money and $350,000 in conditional GAM, and retains a percentage of a future transfer. 'We are thrilled to welcome Efrain to Montreal,' said Luca Saputo, CF Montréal's managing director of recruitment and sporting methodology, in a statement released by the team. 'He is a defender that possesses great athletic qualities and who is able to initiate the play. We are confident that Efrain will bring his qualities to the squad and that he will become an important component of our defensive line, like he is showing with the Bolivian national team.' Morales, 21, was born in Decatur, Georgia, but plays for Bolivia internationally. He began his professional career with Atlanta United 2 in 2020. He has one assist in nine Major League Soccer games since May 7, 2024.

CF Montréal acquires goalkeeper Thomas Gillier on loan from Bologna
Club de Foot Montreal CF Montréal acquired Chilean goalkeeper Thomas Gillier on loan from Bologna FC until the end of the season on Tuesday. The deal includes an option to extend the loan through the 2026 season. Gillier will be eligible to play starting July 24, when the secondary transfer window opens. Gillier did not play a match for Bologna after joining the club on July 2. The 21-year-old made his professional debut with Chilean top-flight side Club Deportivo Universidad Católica on Feb. 23, 2024, recording six clean sheets in 20 games that year. Internationally, Gillier has three caps with Chile's under-20 team. Gillier joins 'keepers Jonathan Sirois, Sebastian Breza and Emil Gazdov on Montreal's roster. CF Montreal owner Joey Saputo also owns Bologna FC.

CF Montréal hires Alexandre Panneton and Hassoun Camara to lead communications team
Club de Foot Montreal CF Montréal has announced the appointment of Alexandre Panneton as vice-president and chief communications and branding officer, and Hassoun Camara as director, strategic communications. Camara, a former player for the Montreal club who has worked as a TV soccer analyst since he retired in 2017, will begin his new role on Thursday, and Panneton will officially join the organization on July 14, according to the team's statement. Panneton has been general manager of the BPM Sports radio network since 2023 and is a former head of programming for TVA Sports. 'These appointments mark an important step in the club's desire to strengthen its position in the Montreal sports ecosystem, increase its visibility and strengthen the relationship with its fans and the community,' the team said. Panneton 'will provide strategic direction for all activities related to CF Montréal's branding, communications and media relations activities.' Camara 'will ensure the strategic management of all club communications' and, in addition to being a spokesperson, maintain 'strong collaboration with the media and various stakeholders.' CF Montréal (2-11-5) currently sits 15th and last in the MLS Eastern Conference. Their next match is June 25 against FC Cincinnati at Saputo Stadium.

Struggling CF Montréal shakes up coaching staff
Club de Foot Montreal CF Montréal, which is winless in 11 matches this Major League Soccer season, made some changes to its coaching staff on Tuesday. The Montreal team announced the departure of assistant coach Ludovic Taillandier and confirmed the arrival of Maxime Leconte and Lorenzo Pinzauti as assistant coaches to support head coach Marco Donadel. After five years with the CF Montréal Academy, Leconte will make the jump to the first team. Since last September, he has been the head coach of the U18 team in MLS NEXT. Pinzauti was the chief match analyst and technical collaborator for US Ancona, an Italian Serie C club, in 2023. He will thus reunite with Donadel, who was US Ancona's head coach that year. CF Montréal will play its next MLS match on Saturday against NYCFC at Yankee Stadium.

CF Montréal acquires Olger Escobar from Revolution
Club de Foot Montreal CF Montréal acquired attacking midfielder Olger Escobar from the New England Revolution on Thursday in exchange for US$125,000 in general allocation money in 2025 and $50,000 in conditional GAM. The Revolution also retains a percentage of any potential Escobar transfer. The transaction was concluded before the MLS transfer window closed on Wednesday evening. CF Montréal subsequently signed Escobar to a two-year contract, subject to option clauses for the 2027, 2028 and 2029 seasons. Escobar, 18, graduated from the Revolution Academy. In the 2022-23 season, he was named part of the MLS NEXT U17 and helped the Revolution U19 team win the MLS NEXT Cup that same year. Escobar began his professional career in 2023. In three seasons with the Revolution reserve team, he made 12 starts in 31 matches, accumulating 1,277 minutes of play, one goal and one assist. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, Escobar represents Guatemala internationally.
