Injured walker who was 'experiencing nausea' after fall rescued

A walker who had injured their wrist and was 'experiencing nausea' after a fall has been rescued. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) were deployed om Friday, July 11 after receiving reports about a walker who had fallen during a walk around Ennerdale Water. The walker had been reported as having an injured wrist and was 'experiencing nausea'. After arriving at the scene, the walker was assessed and given pain relief before being escorted on foot to an awaiting ambulance. Writing on social media, Cockermouth MRT said: "Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called to a walker who had fallen whilst making their way around Ennerdale Water. "The individual reported having hurt their wrist and was experiencing nausea following the injury. "The Team made there way to the casualty from Bleach Green, once on scene pain relief was administered and the injury was splinted. "The casualty was then escorted on foot back to a waiting ambulance. "The team wishes the casualty a speedy recovery. The rescue involved 19 Cockermouth MRT members and lasted around three hours.

Cockermouth MRT called out to Kirk Fell following report of person dead at summit

COCKERMOUTH Mountain Rescue Team were called to an incident after a group of walkers had found a person lying unresponsive and without a pulse on the summit of Kirk Fell. The incident occurred on Sunday, June 29, and due to the nature of the issue, a full callout was needed. The full Team was called out, making its way down Ennerdale Valley in vehicles before ascending Kirk Fell via Baysoar Slack. On Facebook, Cockermouth MRT said: "On arrival it was clear that the individual was sadly deceased. "First on scene ensured the walkers who had found the casualty were ok. The Team then packaged the casualty on a stretcher and transported them back to the vehicles at Black Sail. "Our thanks go to the walkers who looked after the individual until we arrived, and the Team's thoughts go out to the individual and their family."

A walker with an injured ankle has been rescued by Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team (MRT). Cockermouth MRT were deployed on Thursday, June 12 after receiving a call about a walker who had injured their ankle near Scale Force above Crummock Water. Upon arrival at the scene, the MRT were able to assess the casualty before they were stretchered to a waiting ambulance at Buttermere. Writing on social media, Cockermouth MRT said: "The team worked its way down the valley before heading in on foot from Buttermere. "Two team members in the vicinity were already on scene and had assessed the casualty, identifying an isolated ankle injury. The walker's ankle was splinted, then they were packaged on to a stretcher and carried to a waiting NWAS ambulance at Buttermere. "The team wishes the casualty a speedy recovery." The rescue involve 16 team members from Cockermouth MRT and lasted three hours.

Walker rescued after suffering 'severe scalp wound' on Haystacks

A walker who suffered a 'severe scalp wound' on Haystacks has been rescued by Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team (MRT). Cockermouth MRT were deployed after receiving a call from Wasdale MRT on Wednesday, June 11 about a walker who had suffered a head injury on Haystacks. Upon arriving at the scene, the MRT were able to assess the walker's wound before being carried by the team to an awaiting rescue helicopter. Writing on social media, Cockermouth MRT said: "The call-out was transferred to Cockermouth and the team made its way down the valley. "Given the scarce details of the injury and potential consequences of head trauma, a HM Coastguard helicopter was requested to assist. "The Team drove via Honister to Dubs Hut before making its way on foot to the casualty. On arrival and initial assessment it was clear that it was a severe scalp wound requiring hospital care. "The casualty was treated and packaged before being carried by the Team to the waiting Rescue 936 helicopter at Inonimate Tarn." The rescue involved 17 team members from Cockermouth MRT and took two-and-a-half hours to complete.

Walker lost in 'deteriorating conditions' rescued

A walker who was lost in 'deteriorating conditions' near Buttermere has been rescued. Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) were deployed after receiving a call from the partner of a walker who had been reported as lost on the High Stile Ridge on Thursday, March 27. Due to 'deteriorating conditions and the risk of hypothermia', the team was mobilised to located the lost walker. After ascending to the High Stile ridge from Buttermere and Red Pike, the walker was located and escorted off the fell. Writing on social media, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team said: "Under normal circumstances, the Team would have attempted to locate the individual through a phonefind/Sarloc, and talk them back off the mountain. "Due to the deteriorating conditions and the risk of hypothermia a limited callout was initiated and 13 Team members were dispatched to find the individual and escort them off the fell. "The Team approached from Buttermere, working their way up Red Pike and along the ridge to High Stile. "The casualty was located and carefully escorted off the fell to Buttermere." The rescue involved 13 team members from Cockermouth MRT and lasted approximately five-and-a-half hours.
