Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The duo scrambled to hide their faces when they were unexpectedly broadcast, Byron quite literally ducked out of frame while Cabot covered her face and turned around, putting her back toward the camera. Chris Martin, the band's frontman, initially thought the camera had found a sweet moment, saying: 'Look at these two," But their panicked reaction is said to have prompted the lead singer Chris Martin to jokingly remark, 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' Company puts CEO on leave after Coldplay concert video shows couple embracing
The tech company's formal investigation comes days after the moment caught on camera at a Cold Play concert. It doesn't confirm the CEO or other employees were at the event. A New York tech company has placed its CEO on leave during an in-house investigation amid a viral video on social media that shows a couple caught on the Jumbotron in an embrace at a Coldplay concert. Astronomer issued two statements on July 18 on the social media platform X saying CEO Andy Byron had been placed on leave and the company was conducting an investigation. The company statements, also posted on its Linkedin page, did not give a specific reason for taking those actions. "Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability," one of the statements said. One company statement referenced the video and stories related to it by pointing out incorrect information. The company said a woman named on social media in connection with the video "was not at the event and no other employees were in the video." The company also made note of a fake statement purporting to be from the CEO - "Andy Byron has not put out any statement, reports saying otherwise are all incorrect." The video shows a man and a woman quickly letting go of each other when a "Kiss Cam" shows them on the giant screen at the concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts. 'Uh oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy,' Coldplay singer Chris Martin joked. Over 76.5 million people have watched the video of the July 16 incident at Gillette Stadium. Astronomer said it would share more details in the coming days. Company cofounder Pete DeJoy is serving as interim CEO "given Andy Byron has been placed on leave," according to the company statement. Large media accounts like Pop Crave and Pop Base spread the incident to millions of followers on X, and social media posts have reported that the Astronomer CEO is the man in the video. USA TODAY has not confirmed the identities of the man and woman in the video and has reached out to the company for comment. More: TikTok of couple caught on camera at Coldplay concert goes viral. Story about Kiss Cam Guy has taken a bizarre twist with a dash of denial
The company whose CEO is at the centre of a kiss cam story that set the internet alight has issued a denial. But in a bizarre twist, it's not about the affair he's suspected of having but a statement where he allegedly apologises to his wife, family and colleagues. Andy Byron, who heads up $1.3billion software firm Astronomer, was shown on a kiss cam with his arms around Astronomer's head of HR Kristin Cabot, at a Chris Martin concert in Boston on Wednesday. When they realise they're on camera they quickly disentangle, Byron ducks out of view while Cabot turns around before eventually moving out of the shot. Martin jokingly remarks: 'Oh look at these two. Either they are having an affair or they're just really shy.' The clip was shared online, went viral and internet sleuths quickly worked out who the pair were, claiming they are not a couple, and Byron is actually married to Megan Kerrigan Byron Megan's social media disappeared not long after. Later, another clip was shared on X showing Martin looking mortified, before saying nervously to the audience: 'I hope we didn't do something bad…' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Yesterday a statement emerged claiming to be from Byron, but Astronomer has told TMZ it's 'not a real statement'. The 'fake' statement read: 'I want to acknowledge the moment that's been circulating online, and the disappointment it's caused. 'What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake play-out out on a very public stage. I want to sincerely apologize to my wife, my family, and my team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader. 'This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped build. I'm taking time to reflect, take accountability, and figure out the next steps, personally and professionally. I ask for privacy as I navigate that process. 'I also want to express how troubling it is that what should have been a private moment became public without my consent. I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else's life into a spectacle. 'As a friend once sang: 'Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.'' For those not familiar with the band, the last line is from a Cold Play song. Meanwhile, the woman who filmed the clip, Grace Springer, 28, from New Jersey, stands by sharing it online. She told The U.S. Sun: 'I had no idea who the couple was. Just thought I caught an interesting reaction to the kiss cam and decided to post it. 'A part of me feels bad for turning these people's lives upside down, but, play stupid games… win stupid prizes. 'I hope their partners can heal from this and get a second chance at the happiness they deserve with their future still in front of them.' Some online posters criticised the pair for their apparent affair, while many saw the humorous side. More Trending One wrote: 'Coldplay hasn't made a single in years. Last night they made two.' Another added: 'What's worse, finding out your spouse is cheating or that they're a fan of Coldplay?' Byron has been CEO of Astronomer since July 2023 Cabot joined the company as chief people officer just nine months ago. Coldplay is on their record-breaking Music of the Spheres tour, which kicked off in 2022 and is due to end at London's Wembley Stadium in September this year. Arushi Paul's latest EP, Home, is all about embracing the change
Bengaluru-based singer-songwriter Arushi Paul's recently released EP Home is a heartfelt exploration of growth, transition, and self-discovery. Drawing from her own experiences of relocating to a new city as an 18-year-old, her EP delves into the complexities of leaving behind the familiar and stepping into the unknown. Home also reflects her own transition from high school to college, blending nostalgia into melodies that resonate deeply. 'The first song in the EP, 'Get Away' captures the initial wave of self-doubt about leaving a place you have known all your life. It reflects on questions we ask ourselves, such as 'will I succeed?' or 'will I like it there?'' says Arushi, who moved from her home in Bengaluru to pursue higher studies. The second song, 'Mess it Up', is about getting emotionally ready for the next chapter of life in a different city, 'It is about gradually gaining the confidence with regard to the move,' she says. The third and fourth songs are about making peace with the decision, leaving, and adjusting to the change. Talking about her journey into music, Arushi says, 'I have been singing for as long as I can remember, and I have been told that I started singing soon after I began talking.' 'My professional training began when I was 12 years old, and that is when I truly inculcated a love for singing. My music teacher, Richard Andrew Dudley has played a huge part in this journey, in terms of pushing me to try and do more; that has transcended into what I am doing now.' Arushi has also been a performing artiste with MOKSHA - All Stars, a band founded by Richard , who is also the producer and composer of the EP. Talking about her experience of juggling academics and music, Arushi says, 'For me, things were a bit difficult in the 10th and 12th grades — with studies, performing and working on my music. I believe the key is to find a balance; if you enjoy what you are doing, balancing it is not difficult.' 'My parents have been quite supportive from the beginning, they understand that this is what I want to do, and that is also why I have been able to push myself in terms of making my own music,' says Arushi. Her music blends influences ranging from Cold Play and Ed Sheeran to Billie Eilish and Johnny Orlando. Home is the collaborative effort with Richard as producer and composer, Aadarsh Subramanium in arrangements and programming, and Jaime Dudley on the drums and percussion.
