Madden 26 ratings for every Bears rookie

EA Sports has started unveiling player ratings for Madden NFL 26, which will be released Aug. 14, including the league's new rookies. The Chicago Bears had an impactful 2025 NFL draft that includes tight end Colston Loveland, wide receiver Luther Burden III, offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo, defensive tackle Shemar Turner, linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II, cornerback Zah Frazier, offensive lineman Luke Newman and running back Kyle Monangai. When looking at the Bears' rookie ratings, it's worth noting that their top rookie, Loveland, isn't the highest-rated player for the team right now. But it is a player who many had pegged as a first-round pick, who just happened to fall to Chicago in the second round. Bears rookie Colston Loveland sounds off on return to practice field

Chicago Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland has only been full-go at training camp for three days, but he's managed to turn heads during each practice. Following Tuesday's padded practice -- where he made an impressive third-down grab from quarterback Caleb Williams on third down during a 11-on-11, live tackling period -- Loveland sounded off on his return to the practice field after being a spectator throughout the Bears' offseason program. "It's a blessing. It's a blessing to finally be out here with the guys, just working every day, continuing to get better," Loveland said Tuesday. "You can't ask for much more. Learned a lot throughout the process, obviously, and became a better man. I'm just excited to be out here and work with my team." And in case you were wondering, Loveland's shoulder is doing just fine. 'Shoulder feels great, and that's what we're asked to do as tight ends, especially in this offense,' he said. 'You're not just gonna be a pass-catching tight end or a run-blocking tight end. You're gonna be asked to do it all, and you wouldn't want it any other way.' Loveland has already impressed in the passing game, where he's developing a nice rapport with Williams in just a short time together. And Loveland is looking to come just as advertised: impressing with his combination of speed and size, as well as pass-catching prowess on top of his solid blocking. While it's still early, it's impressive to see the impact Loveland is already making on the practice field. With more time in Ben Johnson's offense and continuing to build chemistry with Williams, Loveland is poised to be a huge weapon in this Bears offense. Recapping Day 6 of Chicago Bears training camp

The Chicago Bears were back at Halas Hall for their fifth practice of training camp on Monday morning, where there were still plenty of notable headlines and standouts. The Bears were in pads for the second time during training camp, which is when the real evaluation begins for roster spots and position battles. It was the most physical practice of the summer so far, which featured live tackling with the offense starting off strong but the defense getting the last word. Quarterback Caleb Williams had another impressive practice while rookie tight end Colston Loveland continues to shine. Let's recap Day 6 of Bears training camp: What we learned Standouts Injury updates The Bears were without rookie defensive tackle Shemar Turner (ankle), offensive lineman Bill Murray and rookie cornerback Zah Frazier (personal) once again. According to Brad Biggs, Turner is expected to miss four weeks with a high ankle sprain. So that'll give other plays, including Chris Williams and Zacch Pickens, a chance to step up in his absence. Defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon and offensive lineman Doug Kramer were back at practice on Tuesday. Meanwhile, rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III participated in team drills for the first time in training camp, and he's in the middle of his ramping up period. Highlights The Wizard of O.Z. 🪄 .@GradyJarrett gettin' after it 💥 Press conferences What's next The Bears are back on the practice field on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. CT for their seventh practice of training camp. It marks the fourth open practice of the summer, where fans will be out in Halas Hall at full force. Follow Bears Wire on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram

Recapping Day 5 of Chicago Bears training camp

The Chicago Bears were back at Halas Hall for their fifth practice of training camp on Monday morning, where there were still plenty of notable headlines and standouts. The Bears were in pads for the first time during training camp, which is when the real evaluation begins for roster spots and position battles. According to Brad Biggs, practice lasted roughly two hours in "sweltering humidity" where there was a "major emphasis on run game" with "some of the pass stuff was 1/2 speed or 2/3 speed, so not a lot to go off of." Let's recap Day 5 of Bears training camp: What we learned Rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III practiced for the first time during training camp on Monday. Burden missed the previous four non-padded practices with a lingering hamstring injury. But on the first day of pads, Burden was back and ready to go with his teammates. Burden was spotted participating during individual drills, but he wasn't on the field for team drills. That's not unexpected as he's ramping up (as expected) and should be full-go by the end of the week. Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland has only practiced in full for two days, but he's made headlines after both outings. Loveland was the standout of Monday's practice, where he shined during 7-on-7 with some nice catches. According to Patrick Finley, that included "leaping to catch a Caleb Williams pass over the middle." DJ Moore reminded everyone why he's still WR1 during Monday's practice. According to Zack Pearson, Moore won a rep against cornerback Tyrique Stevenson on a deep ball where he made a sliding catch from quarterback Caleb Williams during 1-on-1 drills. Moore's helmet even popped off during the reception. Alex Shapirorevealed that Moore got a look at running back during this padded practice, which "could be fun" in this Ben Johnson offense. With the Bears in pads for the first time this summer -- and Braxton Jones a full-go in practice -- the left tackle competition has officially kicked into high gear. Chicago rotated all three contenders -- rookie Ozzy Trapilo, Jones and Kiran Amegadjie -- with the starting offensive line during team drills on Monday morning. But according to Mark Carman, the left tackle battle is "going to last awhile" as there's "no clear standout" at this point. The offensive line "dominated the"looked pretty stout" against the defensive line during one-on-one drills, per Alex Shapiro. According to Clay Harbor, here's how it went down: "Darnell Wright won vs. Montez Sweat; Jonah Jackson won vs. Gervon Dexter Sr.; Drew Dalman won vs. (Andrew Billings); Joe Thuney won vs. Grady Jarrett and Kiran Amegadjie won vs. Dayo Odeyingbo." Another day, another JP Richardson mention during training camp practice. The undrafted rookie wide receiver has been one of the biggest standouts through the first five days of camp, and he continued his impressive showcase into padded practice. According to Zack Pearson, won two reps during 1-on-1 drills -- which was notable as defensive backs had the edge on the day. But he did drop one pass and another was overthrown to him deep. Per Alex Shapiro, Richardson has excelled "creating space," which was evident on Monday. Standouts TE Colston Loveland: Loveland has made a strong impression in his two full days of practice. The 10th overall pick was the standout of Monday's practice, where he shined during 7-on-7 with some nice catches. According to Patrick Finley, that included "leaping to catch a Caleb Williams pass over the middle." Loveland returned to full speed on Saturday after missing the entire offseason program recovering from shoulder surgery. But after just two days, he already looks like he hasn't missed a beat and could be a key contributor in Ben Johnson's offense. WR DJ Moore: While Rome Odunze has been the standout wide receiver so far in training camp, DJ Moore once again showed why he'll be a key playmaker in Ben Johnson's offense. According to Zack Pearson, Moore won a rep against cornerback Tyrique Stevenson on a deep ball where he made a sliding catch from quarterback Caleb Williams during 1-on-1 drills. Moore's helmet even came off during the catch. While there's no denying that Moore will serve a key role in the passing game, Alex Shapiro revealed that Moore got a look at running back during this padded practice, which "could be fun" with Johnson calling the shots on offense. DT Grady Jarrett: The Bears offensive line appeared to best the defensive line during one-on-one drills during Monday's practice, but veteran Grady Jarrett held his own -- and there were plenty of comments about his practice. Mark Carman said "Jarrett was a problem in one-on-one drills" while Alex Shapiro noted Jarrett "looks disruptive as ever." Clay Harbor added that Jarrett "still has juice plays with a motor" and "still has quicks and explosiveness." Following practice, center Drew Dalman wasn't sure Jarrett has any weaknesses and believes it's beneficial for any offensive lineman to go against him. Jarrett has been an impactful run defender and disruptive pass rusher with the Falcons, and it appears like he hasn't lost a step with the Bears. WR JP Richardson: This isn't the first time JP Richardson has landed on this list, and it certainly won't be the last. It appears like every other day the undrafted rookie wide receiver is making waves during training camp as he states his case for a roster spot, and he continued his impressive showcase once the pads came on. According to Zack Pearson, Richardson won two reps during 1-on-1 drills -- which was impressive considering defensive backs had the edge on the day. But he did drop one pass and another was a deep overthrow (not from Williams). According to Alex Shapiro, Richardson has excelled "creating space," which was evident on Monday. Injury updates While Luther Burden III made his return to practice, the Bears are still without rookie defensive tackle Shemar Turner (ankle), rookie cornerback Zah Frazier (personal) and offensive lineman Doug Kramer. But there was some reassuring news with Kramer, who suffered a leg injury near the end of Saturday's practice. While he didn't participate on Monday, he was dubbed "day-to-day." In Kramer's absence, rookie Luke Newman got the work with the backup offensive line at center. Meanwhile, newly-signed defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon was carted off with apparent hand/wrist injury. Also, offensive lineman Bill Murray came off the field limping with an apparent left knee injury, which is something to monitor. Highlights Press conferences What's next The Bears are back on the practice field on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. CT for their sixth practice of training camp. The Chicago Bears were back on the practice field at Halas Hall on Monday morning for the fifth practice of training camp -- and their first in pads this summer.
