Bayern hit 10 against Auckland City
Bayern Munich showed no mercy to amateurs Auckland City at the Club World Cup on Sunday, beating the minnows from New Zealand 10-0 in their opening game as Jamal Musiala came off the bench to score a second-half hat-trick. Kingsley Coman, Michael Olise and Thomas Mueller all netted twice, while Sacha Boey was also on target for the German champions in the game in Group C, which also features Boca Juniors and Benfica. Harry Kane started but didn't find the target before being replaced just after the hour mark by Musiala, who netted his three goals in the space of 18 minutes towards the end. It was a stroll in the park in the midday sun in Cincinnati for Vincent Kompany's side, with France winger Coman scoring twice in the opening 21 minutes either side of goals by compatriots Boey and Olise. Coman's sixth-minute breakthrough goal was the first of the tournament following the 0-0 draw between Inter Miami and Al Ahly in Saturday's opening game. Mueller got the fifth and Olise's second of the afternoon made it 6-0 in first-half stoppage time for the Bundesliga heavyweights. Auckland City managed to stem the tide for much of the second half before Musiala came on and took centre stage, his three goals including one from the penalty spot. Mueller made it 10-0 in the 89th minute for a Bayern side who won the Club World Cup twice in its former seven-team guise, in 2013 and 2020. They have recorded bigger victories in the past in the German Cup, but the 10-goal winning margin equals their best ever win in the Bundesliga, when they beat Borussia Dortmund 11-1 in 1971. Bayern, who gave new signing Jonathan Tah a debut in central defence following his recent arrival from Bayer Leverkusen, play Boca in their next match in Miami on Friday. Auckland City take on Benfica earlier the same day in Orlando.

Auckland City FC had a tough face off against Bayern Munich in the FIFA Club World Cup Group C opener. The game was won with a one sided 10-0 by the German Champions. A dazzling performance of brilliance and supremacy by the Bayern Munich. Auckland narrowly avoided an early goal through the efforts of the goal keeper but it did not take long before Bayern gained control of the game. The opening goal by Coman startled a sequence of goals during the first half. The team German juggernaut presented its better skills and strategic expertise. Bayern had a good first team selection featuring Harry Kane and Thomas Mller. This lineup, consisting of stars was too much to handle by Auckland City. The Oceania leaders had a hard task taming such a powerful team. Auckland City was used to dictating the results of domestic matches, but now it had to fight on the defensive. Until Bayern was on their side, their defence was swamped with their low block tactic. Bayern led strongly with Jamal Musiala scoring a hat-trick as a substitute. Bayern Munich demolish Auckland City to kick off Club World Cup campaign
CINCINNATI, UNITED STATES: Bayern Munich began their Club World Cup campaign in emphatic fashion with a ruthless 10-0 demolition of Auckland City on Sunday, as Jamal Musiala marked his return from injury with a brilliant second-half hat-trick in a commanding team display. Kingsley Coman opened the scoring in the sixth minute, heading home at the far post after a Joshua Kimmich corner. The Bundesliga champions then took full control with a three-goal burst in as many minutes, as Sacha Boey smashed in a low shot from a Coman pass in the 18th minute for his first goal for Bayern, Michael Olise added a third with a simple tap-in moments later and Coman netted his second in the 21st minute. Thomas Mueller then made it 5-0 just before the break, volleying in from close range after an Olise assist, and the French winger grabbed his second with a superb curling effort from outside the box. With a dominant lead at halftime, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany made several changes, including handing a senior debut to 17-year-old Lennart Karl. "I wanted to give Karl his opportunity, he showed lots of quality, it was great for him and great for Bayern," Kompany told reporters. "We have a strong basis from last season and we can still give young players an opportunity to succeed, he may play an important role in the next rounds." Substitute Musiala curled a trademark finish into the far corner in the 67th minute, before calmly converting a penalty he earned six minutes later and pouncing on a defensive blunder to score his third in the 84th. Mueller also completed his double by sealing the rout in the 89th minute, as Bayern recorded the biggest win in the history of men's Club World Cups. Despite the heavy defeat, Auckland coach Ivan Vicelich — who noted before the match that several of his players had to take time off from their day jobs — said he was proud of his team's effort. "To be proud of the players is what we're after. It's a dream coming from an amateur level to play in this environment," he said. "You can't hide on the field. (I'm) really proud, a lot of players put in a good amount and worked really hard." The 13-time OFC Champions League winners Auckland will face Benfica on Friday, while Bayern meet Argentine giants Boca Juniors on the same day in Group C action. "The next game against Boca Juniors will be the highlight of the group stage," Kompany added.
