Oath Keepers Founder Pardoned By Trump Warns Of ‘Trouble' Over Lack Of Epstein Files
The founder of a violent militia group who was pardoned for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack by President Donald Trump, warned that Trump faces 'trouble' over not releasing documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the far-right group the Oath Keepers, has joined a growing chorus of MAGA voices who have expressed anger that Trump hasn't released more information about Epstein, the disgraced financier who killed himself in 2019 before he was set to face trial for sex crimes. 'I believe 90% of his own base understands that Epstein was up to something and we know that's the tip of the iceberg,' Rhodes told a crowd at a Comfort Inn in Texas last week, the Daily Beast first reported on Tuesday. Rhodes was referring to Attorney General Pam Bondi's announcement earlier this month that documents related to Epstein ― including potential information on his co-conspirators ― don't exist. Trump, a longtime friend of Epstein, has blamed Democrats over what he calls a 'hoax.' 'It's really disheartening to see President Trump just declare that to be a hoax,' Rhodes said. 'I don't think it is. And I think it's going to cause him trouble in his own base. It already is.' Rhodes was sentenced to 18 years in prison for his role in the Jan. 6 attack and was pardoned by Trump along with more than 1,500 other rioters. Rhodes and his fellow Oath Keepers had planned to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden's election by any means necessary, including using an arsenal of guns that they brought from across the country if Trump had invoked the Insurrection Act that day. Trump falsely claimed his poll numbers have 'gone up, significantly' following the lack of Epstein files. 'My Poll Numbers within the Republican Party, and MAGA, have gone up, significantly, since the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax was exposed by the Radical Left Democrats and, just plain 'troublemakers,'' Trump wrote Sunday on his social media platform Truth Social. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) canceled upcoming House votes on Tuesday and is sending lawmakers home early for a five-week recess to block a bipartisan effort to force a vote on releasing files on Epstein. On Tuesday, Trump again downplayed his role with Epstein. 'We had the Greatest Six Months of any President in the History of our Country, and all the Fake News wants to talk about is the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax!' Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Merritt, B.C., hotel fire deemed suspicious by RCMP
Police in B.C.'s Interior say no one was hurt in a suspicious fire that broke out early Friday morning at the Comfort Inn & Suites hotel in Merritt, about 70 kilometres southwest of Kamloops. "A significant section of the building was engulfed, resulting in extensive damage. Fire investigators and Merritt RCMP officers remain on scene today gathering evidence and determining the cause of the blaze," Cpl. James Grandy said in a media release. Leo Charlie and his family were staying at the hotel when the fire broke out just before 2 a.m. PT. "Everyone was sleeping," he said. "All of a sudden the fire alarms started going off. It was dark and then I started hearing people running down the hallway yelling that there's a fire. It was kinda scary." Charlie, his wife and two children, aged five and seven, made their way down a fire escape to safety. He estimates he saw about 100 people in the parking lot who had evacuated the hotel. "It was pretty intense not knowing what was going on and having your kids and family, and at that time of night," he said. "The flames and smoke was coming out of the left side of the building." Like Charlie, a number of people staying at the hotel were in town for their graduation ceremony from the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology. He said people displaced from the hotel were being sent to the Mission Community Centre where alternate accommodation was being arranged.

Batavia native, partners open new quick-service place in Falls
When you need a break from seeing what downtown Niagara Falls has to offer, there is a new place to get a quick bite to eat. Snack Time Indian Food Corner opened last month within the Comfort Inn property at 1 Prospect Pointe. Owner Hunter Boisclair and business partners Vick and Jolly Singh's business caters to Indian tourists and others taking a break from exploring the sights. Along with drinks and snacks, customers can pick up prepared food including wraps, rice platters, pizza, coffee, juices and bakery items. The business partners have some sense of what the Falls has to offer through their other businesses and are plenty aware of the thousands of people per day visiting the Falls in the summer. A Batavia native, Boisclair was previously involved with Vitality Nutrition Group there, which led to his partnership with the Singhs. He makes the nearly hour-long commute from Genesee County to Buffalo and Niagara Falls to work on his new projects. The Singhs are originally from India, and the food offerings come from their background. Together with Boisclair, the trio operates grocery stores and small restaurants throughout the region, including a fresh food place inside Erie County Medical Center and a new pizza place in the works for Pine Avenue. Since opening, Snack Time has been busier on the weekends and in the evenings, since it is open until 11:30 p.m. seven days a week. The owners plan to add a shake bar and breakfast options soon.
