CLAT countdown: The Common Law Admission Test, or CLAT, continues to be the most competitive entry test in the nation. It has 120 comprehension-based questions to be answered within 120 minutes, so not only does it need knowledge, it also needs consistency, clarity in subjects, and a steady and strategic frame of mind. Most aspirants perform well at the start but tend to get confused on how to proceed in a manner that is both effective as well as focused. A month-by-month plan provides a real, tried-and-tested method of keeping track and optimising performance. This is also the time to start maintaining a daily routine of reading quality newspapers. A dedicated 45-minute slot for editorial and legal updates builds both awareness and comprehension speed. In Quantitative Techniques, begin with percentages, averages, and ratios, as these are frequently tested and conceptually linked. Legal concepts such as those from the IPC, Constitution, and Contract Law should be introduced now. They serve as the backbone of the Legal Reasoning section and will continue to be revised throughout the six months. In the second month, the focus should shift towards active learning. This includes maintaining a subject-wise file of important topics, drafting short notes on frequently asked themes, and tracking updates related to recent legislation, such as the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand or the Immigration and Foreigners Bill. Students should also begin to engage with international current affairs. Updates such as China's DeepSeek AI model or global legal positions on immigration control are useful for both GK and Legal Reasoning. Two mock tests spaced across the month help gauge early performance, though the emphasis should remain on accuracy over speed. Vocabulary-building should run in parallel through editorial engagement and short comprehension exercises. Month 3: Transition to Practice and Integrated Revision With the basics covered, the third month should prioritise applying concepts under timed conditions. Weekly full-length mock tests become essential at this stage. More important than the scores themselves is the post-mock analysis. Students must review not just what they got wrong but why. This helps identify recurring weaknesses, whether conceptual, linguistic, or logical. Quant practice should now include questions with multi-step reasoning. In Legal Reasoning, students should attempt principle-fact questions involving recent developments, such as the legal interpretation of the right to die with dignity or judicial accountability. Logical Reasoning practice must involve evaluating arguments and understanding inferences, both of which require structured thought rather than guesswork. Mock tests should be taken at least twice a week under full exam conditions. OMR sheets should be used for each test to develop precision. Revision must be strategically segmented, with subject days clearly laid out. GK preparation must now cover key international and sporting events such as the FIFA Club World Cup and the Women's Cricket World Cup. Concept reinforcement should be done through concise notes, revisiting previous errors and using revision schedules to ensure wide coverage. The order in which sections are attempted can have a marked impact. Starting with GK and Legal Reasoning allows for stronger momentum through the paper. Month 5: Replicate Exam Scenarios and Build Consistency This is the phase where endurance matters more than novelty. Mock frequency should increase to three tests per week, supported by daily revision in short but focused blocks. By now, aspirants must be clear about their ideal section attempt order and have an understanding of time allocation for each part of the paper. The aim is not to score perfectly in every section, but to be consistently strong across all of them. English and Logic should be tackled with an emphasis on reading speed and critical interpretation. Quantitative sections, ideally attempted last, must be kept sharp with time-limited drills and formula recall. Final updates in current affairs must be added to the student's revision material for quick reference. Month 6: Final Revision and Exam Temperament The final month must be approached with calm precision. This is not the time to introduce new topics or add additional study material. The focus must shift entirely to consolidation. Mock tests should now be limited to two per week, allowing sufficient time for thorough review. Revision notes should be the only resource, containing summarised notes across all subjects and mock test learnings. Daily revision should cover short bursts across different topics rather than deep dives into a single area. Aspirants must also dedicate time to mental preparation, practising focus, managing pre-test anxiety, and ensuring adequate rest. Revisiting the structure of previous papers and reflecting on recurring themes across subjects sharpens recall and boosts confidence. With a clear mind and tested preparation, students can enter the examination room with clarity and command. "Regular Mock Practice...": Law Exam 2025 Toppers Share Tips For Aspirants
LAW 2025 Toppers : The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) released the revised results for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) Postgraduate 2025, following a directive from the Delhi High Court on June 10, 2025. Over 120 rank holders were accepted provisionally to the NLSIU, Bengaluru, and 44 to the National Law University, Odisha, as per the first provisional merit list. Anushka Johari, who secured an All-India Rank (AIR) of 35 with 216 marks, earned a spot at National Law University, Odisha. Meanwhile, Omisha Sharma achieved her dream of joining NLSIU, Bengaluru with an AIR of 62 in her second consecutive attempt at the CUET PG 2025. Both studied at Maansarovar Coaching, Delhi. Omisha highlighted the importance of mock tests for aspirants, "I would suggest regular mock practice and a solid grasp of GK. This advice is common because it truly works." Anushka also emphasised how weekly mock tests at her coaching centre played a pivotal role, "Weekly mock tests and sectional tests-especially in Mathematics and static GK-kept me on track," she said. Anushka advised students to try to improve their weak subjects more. "Be consistent, stay honest with your efforts, and don't fear failure. Revise your strengths but also face your weak areas head-on. I did that with Mathematics," she said. Through her preparation, Anushka learned that revision matters more than trying to cover everything. "One major takeaway from my prep was the power of revision. I didn't chase multiple sources. Instead, I revised key areas like GK, Computers, and abbreviations several times. Some topics needed five or six revisions before I felt confident," she explained. Omisha talked about how keeping yourself in check with the previous year questions and planning rigorously helps you to achieve good marks. "Getting a clear idea of the kind of questions asked and aligning your prep accordingly is key. Practicing previous years' papers and having a strong plan helped me score well," she said. Both students shared how crucial their coaching centres were in their exam preparation. They credited Maansarovar Law Centre with helping them realise their dreams. NLU PG aspirant challenges ‘exorbitant' counselling fee, HC sends notice
New Delhi: Delhi High Court declined any interim relief to a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) postgraduate candidate who complained that the counselling fee charged by the consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) was "exorbitant". Justice Rajneesh Kumar Gupta, however, sought the stand of the consortium, Bar Council of India, University Grants Commission, central govt and others by July 2. In his plea, the candidate said he could not participate in the second round of counselling on June 20 as the rules mandated he deposit Rs 20,000 as "upfront payment" after he already paid Rs 30,000 as a refundable counselling fee for the first round. The plea assailed Clause 2, Admissions Counselling Process, which provides for a freeze option, where whenever any candidate wants to book a spot, he is required to deposit a "non-refundable confirmation fee" of Rs 20,000. CLAT PG exam: On plea against ‘exorbitant counselling fee', Delhi HC seeks response from NLU, BCI, UGC
The Delhi High Court on Monday sought response from a consortium of National Law Universities (NLU), the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) on a petition moved by an aspirant challenging the 'exorbitant' counselling fees being charged for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) PG exams. 'This is the only examination in the whole country where such a high fee is taken…hundreds are not able to participate,' Advocate Siddharth R Gupta, appearing for the petitioner, Jatin Shrivastava, who scored 474th rank in the CLAT PG exams, told the court. 'I'm praying for interim relief…please let me participate without paying the fees. I've already paid 30,000 refundable fees. I'm being charged 20,000 per round,' Gupta said. 'The process is going on, second counselling is going on. How can I disturb the whole system for one candidate?' asked Justice Rajneesh Kumar Gupta while issuing notice to the consortium. 'For freezing the seat, Rs 20,000 will have to be paid again…I can't fill the form without this payment,' said Advocate Gupta on the petitioner's behalf. When asked by the judge about the next CLAT PG counselling date, Advocate Gupta responded that it was scheduled for July 4. After hearing the response, Justice Gupta posted the matter for hearing on July 2 — two days before the third round of counselling and further directed the consortium to file a reply to the aspirant's plea. An interim order in favour of the aspirant was not passed by Justice Gupta. In the plea moved by Srivastava, examples of the counselling fees for 15 exams were attached. It was also argued in the petition that charging a high fee was discriminatory towards those who didn't have the means to pay. A similar petition has been filed before the Kerala HC against the 'exorbitant fees' charged during counselling. This plea is likely to be heard later in July.
