Ananaya Jain, a student of DAV Public School in Ludhiana's Pakhowal Road secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the Common University Entrance Test-Under Graduate (CUET-UG) 2025, the results of which were declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday. As many as 13.5 lakh candidates appeared in the test for admission to undergraduate programmes in central universities and other institutes.
Jain achieved 100 percentile in Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, and Mathematics, 99.99 percentile in English, and a cumulative score of 1225.93, making her the all-India topper across five subjects.
A resident of Raghunath Enclave in Ludhiana, Jain told The Indian Express that she wishes to pursue a career in economics. Her father Manav Jain is a chartered accountant and mother Neeti Jain a homemaker. 'I am now aiming to get admission for graduation in Economics honours at Delhi University. I would like to study either at Hindu College or Lady Sri Ram College,' she said.
Jain had scored 98.8 per cent marks in the Commerce stream in the recent CBSE Board exams and had stood third in Ludhiana district. 'I would only advice my peers to maintain consistency. I had started preparing for this exam very early. We should stay connected with our teachers and focus on our own interests to select the right stream,' she said.
This year, CUET UG was held from May 13 to June 4. As per data shared by the NTA, only one candidate has scored 100 percentile in four out of the five opted subjects. Seventeen candidates have scored 100 percentile in three subjects, while 150 students had 100 percentile in two subjects and 2,679 in a single subject.
Now that the NTA has released the CUET-UG scorecard, a merit list will be prepared by participating universities and institutes. Universities may also conduct individual counselling based on the CUET-UG 2025 scorecard.
