Four motorists nabbed in 4 days for excessive speeding: OPP
Nottawasaga OPP says officers nabbed four motorists in four days excessively speeding in Simcoe County.
In just four days, officers stopped several motorists for excessive speeding in New Tecumseth and surrounding areas.
Provincial police say that with summer in full swing, they are out in full force, cracking down on speeding to keep our roads safe.
As a result, officers pulled over four motorists between Thursday and Sunday, including a 45-year-old driver allegedly clocked travelling 99 kilometres per hour in a 50km/h zone on Boyne Street in Alliston.
The following day, police say a 39-year-old driver was stopped for speeding 103km/h on Concession Road 3 in Adjala-Tosorontio - 43 km/h over the posted limit.
On Saturday, officers nabbed a 27-year-old driver accused of speeding south on County Road 1 at 112 km/h, 52km/h over the limit.
And on Sunday, a 43-year-old was stopped for allegedly travelling 49km/h over the posted limit in a Community Safety Zone on Main Street in Everett.
A stunt driving charge is automatic for motorists caught speeding 40 km/h or more in a posted 80km/h or less zone. Stunt driving carries an immediate 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.
"Speeding puts everyone at risk. These speeds are not just illegal—they're dangerous," Nottawasaga OPP stated. "Slow down and drive responsibly this summer."
