LeBron James once made Jayson Tatum cry, and it was not on court

LeBron James once made Jayson Tatum cry, and it was not on court (Image Credit: Getty Images) LeBron James has an enormous fan following; some of them even play with him in the NBA . Jayson Tatum is one of them. One of Tatum's memories is when LeBron made him cry. However, it was certainly not on the court. The incident is from his childhood. He brought the incident to the legendary player's notice during a ball-signing activity in July 2024. LeBron, known for his great sense of humor, gave a hilarious comeback to Tatum. The story dates back to the time when Jayson Tatum was 11. He went to Memphis with his mother to watch a LeBron game. When he tried to approach the four-time champion for an autograph, LeBron didn't pay much attention and left without fulfilling the request. Tatum cried in the car on his way back home because of this. It was James' instant comeback to the story that stole the show and drew laughter from everyone around. Jayson Tatum shared an old story about LeBron James In July 2024, a tweet from the Boston Celtics insider, Noa Dalzell, took fans to an adorable moment between LeBron James and Jayson Tatum off the court. In the tweet, an old clip was shared where Tatum and James indulged in a playful banter while signing the b-balls. In the clip, Tatum was recounting an old memory that involved LeBron. Tatum said: 'In Memphis a long time ago, Larry Hughes was my dad's best friend. They played on the Cavs together. My mom took me to a game in Memphis. I wanted to meet LeBron, and I wanted to get a picture with him and an autograph. There was a lot of people back there. He was like, 'I'm out. I gotta go.' I got in the car and started crying. But we cool now." LeBron asked, 'When did it happen?' Tatum replied, 'When I was 11.' To this, LeBron James gave a hilarious comeback, 'That's why you dunked on me in though? That's why you dunked on me in the Conference Finals?" Tatum replied, 'It's a get-back', while giggling over James' response. Jayson Tatum's other attempts to catch LeBron James' attention as a child From the above clip, it was evident that LeBron James and Jayson Tatum's history with each other went way back. LeBron has been Tatum's icon since his childhood. Apart from trying to get an autograph, he made various attempts to catch James' attention. Once he made a follow-back request to the Lakers' star, explaining his family's connection to basketball. Tatum was 14 at that time. His tweet read: '@KingJames Follow back, it's Larry Hughes' nephew from St. Louis and Abe and Rj Lil cousin and Justin Son Follow Back' The tweet expressed Tatum's pure fascination for the player. From all these incidents, it is evident that sharing the court with his icon, LeBron James, must have been a 'dream-come-true' moment for the Boston Celtics star. Knicks' patient process to replace Tom Thibodeau shouldn't confuse fans

The post Knicks' patient process to replace Tom Thibodeau shouldn't confuse fans appeared first on ClutchPoints. This week's NBA rumor mill heavily features the Knicks. After firing head coach Tom Thibodeau, the franchise's search for a replacement has left even reporters wondering what the process is. Advertisement Team president Leon Rose said after firing Thibodeau that the team is 'singularly focused on winning.' A focus that led them to fire their coach. But almost a full week later, there is no new head coach in place. The NBA landscape still has questions. Why did the team move on? How did that 'singular focus' inspire firing a coach that led the team to its first Conference Finals in 25 years? Simply put, the organization believes that a different coach gives them a greater chance of success. Going into this past season, despite the blockbuster moves for big-name stars, the Knicks did not seem to believe that their 'championship window' was open just yet. Moving on from Thibodeau after a Conference Finals appearance signals that they now see that window as being open. Not having an immediate successor in place within two weeks of the season ending isn't an issue. It's an indication that the franchise felt that 100 regular-season and playoff games were enough of a sample size to influence this decision. And that searching for a new coach while the team was actively competing in the Eastern Conference Finals would likely not have gone well. The Knicks are taking a 'no stone unturned' approach to finding next coach Jerome Miron-Imagn Images The Knicks' front office is unique. Leon Rose and company turned around the franchise in five years without ever tanking. It took everything from trading for Australian coaches to loopholes in the new CBA to construct the team's roster. Advertisement The process, while unorthodox, boils down to the team having things it would like to accomplish in mind. And, then, trying to find a way to do them. It may not work. Statistically, it probably won't work. But, in reality, there's only one surefire way for a team to find out if something is possible. It's to try it. It was first reported last Wednesday that the Knicks have an interest in Chris Finch. The Athletic's Jon Krawcynzski reported two days later that he'd be 'surprised if anything came of it.' But if the organization most covets Finch, why shouldn't they find out the hard way? If the Knicks compiled a list of top candidates regardless of feasibility, wouldn't most already coach at the highest level? The team is justified in finding out whether or not it's possible to bring those candidates to New York. After it was initially reported that the Knicks had interest in Jason Kidd, Marc Stein reported that his sources believe the Mavericks will refuse to grant the Knicks permission to meet with him. Advertisement Brian Windhorst later reported that there's mutual interest between Kidd and the Knicks. The extent to which the Mavericks and Knicks are negotiating through the media is unknown. But there's a saying about noticing lots of smoke somewhere and what might be causing it. The Knicks have more candidates to sift through if nothing works out with those at the top. Sources familiar with the situation tell ClutchPoints that the coaching search will include coaches at the collegiate level. New York can't say it conducted a full and comprehensive search without actually doing the searching. The team needs to fully and comprehensively explore all of its potential options to later claim that the process was comprehensive. LeBron James Trolls Knicks Fans After Loss In The Conference Finals

LeBron James Trolls Knicks Fans After Loss In The Conference Finals originally appeared on Fadeaway World. In a special edition episode of the 'Mind the Game' podcast, Lakers star LeBron James trolled the Knicks after their recent run to the Conference Finals. James, who was joined by Maverick Carter, Victor Wembanyama, and other celebrity guests, spoke directly to Knicks fans as he looked back on the 2025 playoffs. Advertisement 'Knicks fans, y'all good? You going to the Finals next year? We'll see," said James. The episode was being shot in New York City as part of Fanatics Fest 2025, which means LeBron knew there would be plenty of Knicks fans in attendance. Over the years, while LeBron has not engaged much with the Knicks, he has had several opportunities to join them over the years. In 2010, the Knicks thought they had James in the bag until he revealed his intentions to sign with the Heat. Ever since, LeBron has kept a comfortable distance from the Knicks, a team that was considered highly dysfunctional and unorganized. As an organization, the Knicks were the laughing stock of the league for years, and they had nothing to show for their existence but repeated playoff failures. All that changed with the arrival of Jalen Brunson in 2022. His elite play at point guard brought the Knicks to relevance in the East, and he found favor among the fans with averages of 28.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game on 47.9% shooting. Advertisement By the 2024-25 campaign, the Knicks were one of the highest-rated teams in the East, and they successfully restored their reputation after decades of mismanagement. All along the way, Knicks fans were buzzing with excitement, and they were going viral as they proudly cheered their team to success. While the Knicks did make a run to the East Finals this year, they fell short once again, and the fans experienced major disappointment. Even when everything was going their way, it still wasn't enough to win, and some fans are feeling a sense of hopelessness about their immediate title chances. Today, LeBron brought all of those feelings back as he reminded New Yorkers of their most recent playoff losses. While LeBron didn't do much better with the Lakers, he can at least look back on his past titles as proof of his success. For the Knicks, their only images of winning are in the future, but they cannot do it as presently constricted. With a few moves to the roster, namely the supporting cast, the Knicks can get even better as a team and increase their championship odds. Or, they can pursue star power to ensure they always have a go-to scorer in the clutch. Advertisement Whatever happens in New York this summer, one thing is clear: LeBron James will not be a part of it. He's already made peace with not becoming a Knick, and he's better off with the Lakers anyway, a team that is fully equipped to maximize the end of his career. To get revenge on LeBron will be no easy feat, but Knicks fans are eager for it after he so brutally called them out. In the end, only time will tell if they can earn LeBron's respect, but they've come a long way from where they were before, when they were in complete disarray as a franchise. Timberwolves rumors: Minnesota's stance amid Kevin Durant's disinterest

The post Timberwolves rumors: Minnesota's stance amid Kevin Durant's disinterest appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Minnesota Timberwolves' stance on a potential Kevin Durant trade has been revealed. The Timberwolves are coming off another successful season that saw them make a second straight Western Conference Finals. Anthony Edwards is improving each passing year and has consistently elevated his play when his team needed it most. As the 23-year-old continues to develop, the front office is trying to surround him with the best supporting cast available while not doing anything drastic. Advertisement The Western Conference will be an absolute gauntlet next year, and the Timberwolves will need to make some upgrades or certain players on the roster improve to make it back to the Conference Finals. One of the trades that has been floated over the past few weeks is Durant to Minnesota. However, the recent reports have been discouraging. The Athletic's Sam Amick and Jon Krawczynski provided clarity on how the Timberwolves and Suns feel about a potential Durant blockbuster. 'The Suns have made it clear to Durant's camp that they need to prioritize the best return for the team in a deal. What's more, they appear focused on landing the kind of impact players who can help now, as opposed to prioritizing draft picks. The Wolves would seem to have options available to offer, with Rudy Gobert or Julius Randle headlining a package that could give the Suns hopes of contending. With the offers from the Spurs, Rockets, and Heat coming up short to this point, league sources say the Suns are still hopeful that Durant might warm to the Timberwolves possibility. The Timberwolves do not want to make a seismic change to a roster that advanced to the Western Conference finals if Durant is not on board with the move, team sources said. The question now is whether there's any chance of Durant coming around to the idea.' The Timberwolves will need to make a decision on Randle soon. There's a decent chance three-time All-Star opts out of his player option in pursuit of a long-term deal. Randle had a slightly uneven regular season but really hit his stride toward the end. The 30-year-old was mostly terrific this postseason run. Gobert has two more years on his current deal before he's up for a player option as well. Advertisement While the four-time Defensive Player of the Year can be a maddening center to watch at times, he is still a very valuable contributor on this roster and has played a significant role in this franchise's ascent. Trading for Durant is ultimately a move the Timberwolves would need to be sure about, since he is set to be a free agent after next season. It's ultimately not worth it for Minnesota to take a Toronto Raptors-Kawhi Leonard type gamble if that significantly mortgages the future. Boston Celtics expected to move G-League coach to new role (report)

Maine Celtics coach Tyler Lashbrook is expected to move to a new role within the Celtics organization for next season according to a new report from Michael Scotto of Hoopshype. Lashbrook joined the Celtics organization before the 2023-24 season as a player development coach before being named Maine Celtics coach before last season. He has also spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers during his coaching career before joining Boston. Advertisement Scotto reported last week that the Celtics are expected to name former NBA point guard Phil Pressey as the new coach of the Maine Celtics later this summer with Lashbrook moving to a new role. Pressey has been a player enhancement coach in Boston for two years following the conclusion of his pro career. He played for two seasons in Boston under team president of basketball operations Brad Stevens at the start of his NBA career. Lashbrook led the Maine Celtics to a 21-13 record in G-League play last year with several pro contributors spending time in Maine including Baylor Scheierman, JD Davison and Boston's two-way players. Maine advanced to the Conference Finals in the G-League playoffs before falling to the Osceola Magic on the road. More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.
