'Sabko mitti mein mila ke ... ': Kharge attacks PM Modi over quota; calls BJP, RSS 'poison'
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge NEW DELHI: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday launched a fierce salvo at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over reservations, questioning the Prime Minister's claim of being a backward. Addressing a party-organised Bhagirdari Nyay Mahasammelan, Kharge claimed PM Modi has been "troubling everyone" and that he wants to be a "lone survivor". "PM Modi calls himself backward even though he once belonged to an upper-caste community. It was only after he became chief minister that he got his community inducted into the backwards list without anyone noticing. In fact, most of us only found out about it after he became Prime Minister," Kharge alleged during a Congress-organised Bhagirdari Nyay Mahasammelan. Kharge further said: "That's when the trickery began. When he interacted with backwards communities, he would present himself as one of them. He claimed that Congress was harassing him. But when did we ever trouble him? On the contrary, he's the one troubling everyone. Tum sabko mitti mein mila ke tum akela zinda rehna chahte hain (You want to bury everyone else and be the only surviver). But that won't happen. It may have worked once, twice, even thrice, but it won't go on forever." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 3/4/5 BHK Sea View Homes in Sewri by L&T Realty L&T_The Gateway Get Offer Undo Kharge said PM Modi is not ready to give reservations to those who have no voice, and that he is "jhoothon ke sardar". "According to the Constitution, there is a 60 per cent reservation, but PM Modi doesn't want to give reservation to those who are academically, socially, and economically backward. PM Modi is not ready to give reservation to those who have no voice. We have to make him bow. We have to tell him with unity that we are no less," Kharge said at the event. The Congress chief alleged that the PM "lied" about giving MSP to farmers, on jobs and on black money. "PM Modi's only job is to tell lies but I don't understand why people are not agitated... He promised to provide two crore jobs, bring back black money and giver Rs 15 lakh to everyone... everything was a lie. He even lied on giving MSP to farmers. He promised to increase the income of backward classes ... it never happened. That is why I call PM Modi 'jhoothon ke sardar'. He even makes false statement in Parliament," the Rajya Sabha leader of opposition said. Stepping up his attack on the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS, Kharege said: "A Prime Minister who speaks lies cannot do good for the must stand united and and BJP are like poison. If you taste this poison, you will be finished."

Mallikarjun Kharge Missing From Congress' Goa Event Poster. BJP Takes Aim
Panaji: The Goa Congress has landed in a controversy after a poster displayed during the Statehood Day celebrations failed to feature the image of party national president Mallikarjun Kharge. The omission sparked a sharp reaction from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which accused Congress of 'disrespecting and sidelining' its Dalit leader. The banner, displayed during a Congress-organised event in Panaji on May 30 to mark Goa Statehood Day, prominently featured photos of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, state Congress president Amit Patkar, and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao -- but conspicuously left out Mr Kharge. Mr Kharge was originally scheduled to attend a public meeting in Navelim, South Goa, which was later cancelled. Taking to social media, the Goa BJP posted an image of the controversial banner on its official X handle, claiming the incident was a deliberate snub. Congress Humiliates Its Dalit President. Mallikarjun Kharge's photo deliberately left out from Congress's official Goa Statehood Day banner — a snub to the party's own national president? — BJP Goa (@BJP4Goa) May 31, 2025 'Congress Humiliates Its Dalit President. Mallikarjun Kharge's photo deliberately left out from Congress's official Goa Statehood Day banner - a snub to the party's own national president?' the post read. The BJP further alleged that the Congress had humiliated its Dalit president by excluding him from the visual representation. The development has resulted in a fresh wave of political friction in the state of Goa. The ruling party, BJP, is using it to question Congress' commitment to internal unity, its oft-repeated inclusivity line and representation. Political observers note that the incident may affect Congress' image, particularly among Dalit voters, if not addressed swiftly and sensitively. Meanwhile, Congress supporters argue that the BJP is exploiting a genuine mistake for political mileage. According to reports, some Congress leaders in Goa have admitted to this 'minor mistake' due to what they called oversight. As the issue continues to stir debate, Congress faces pressure to reaffirm its commitment to inclusivity and organisational unity, say political observers.
