Penrith Peaky's reaches final of 'Best Barber 2025' awards
WE'RE highlighting the shortlisted barber shops in our competition in the . Each of the establishments will be featured over ten issues.
Peaky's Barber Shop has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of ten finalists in its 'Best Barber Shop 2025' award.
Located at 34A Great Dockray in Penrith, the shop is gearing up to celebrate its 10th birthday.
It was opened by Connor O'Neil in March 2016, when he was just 20 years old.
(Image: Supplied) When asked how it felt to be nominated by his customers, he said: 'It's so good that we're recognised for what we do. It just shows that hard work pays off.'
Connor has been a barber since he left school and trained in the trade in college, he has not looked back since.
Now, he is joined by four other barbers in Peaky's, two who are just at the beginning of their careers.
Connor said: 'We have a good dynamic, and we all get on well. Customers like that we are all reliable and open six days a week so they can fit their haircut into their routines.
'We have a really loyal base of customers now. Some even come every week. The people we see range from young to old, one of my regular customers is 101 years old!'

(Image: Supplied) Peaky's is busy 'all year round,' with a constant flow of people coming through their doors. The four barbers work by appointment and people can book through an online system.
Being in the industry since he was in college, Connor's favourite part about being a barber is meeting new people.
He said: 'It doesn't feel like a job or like I'm going to work every morning.
'Clients soon become friends.'
