England ‘a work in progress' and have a lot of improving to do
Conor Gallagher accepts there is 'a lot of improvement' to make following a disappointing international break which saw England slip to a first defeat under Thomas Tuchel. England laboured to an unimpressive 1-0 victory over Andorra, a side ranked 173rd in the world, before slipping to their first defeat to African opposition three days later. Despite Harry Kane's early goal, the warning signs were there as Dean Henderson made five saves in the first period, but after Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr drew the visitors level, Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly struck in the second half as boos rang around the City Ground. Gallagher, who was substituted in the second half, revealed Tuchel was calm in the dressing room after the game and is frustrated the next international window is three months away. The Atletico Madrid midfielder said: 'It was a really tough game, but we're still building. There's a lot to improve and there's a lot to work on and, as a team, we'll do that. 'I'm sure the manager and the coaching staff will look back at the game and see where we can be better because there is a lot of improvement to be made, but we're moving forward. 'He's calm. He's obviously disappointed and not happy, but he's calm with us. He knows we could be a lot better. 'It's a shame because we're away from each other for a few months now, whereas he would like to kind of fix the problem straight away, but he can't because that's how it is in international football. 'It's a work in progress and all the lads and the staff and the manager are all confident and happy with the progression. 'We have a lot to build on and improve and that's what we're going to try to do.' England were accused of not showing the right attitude in their narrow win over minnows Andorra. Asked whether they had shown the right application against Senegal, Gallagher replied: 'Yeah, definitely. I think we really wanted to win and I feel like we worked hard. 'I don't think we were great, if I'm being honest. But like I keep saying, it's a kind of work in progress and we need to improve moving forward and we're all happy to be doing that.' Gallagher's focus will now switch to the Club World Cup as he prepares to join up with his Atletico team-mates in the United States ahead of their first game against Champions League winners Paris St Germain at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. He said: 'It's really exciting and I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be a great tournament. I think it will be really exciting when all the teams are actually there and the tournament starts. 'You want to always play against the best players and the midfielders. Obviously (PSG) had an unbelievable season, so you want to be playing against these guys. We know how hard it will be, but it's good for us and it's exciting.'

England star details major difference between Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate
Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher played a handful of games for Thomas Tuchel when the German was his Chelsea manager and Gallagher was given his England debut by Gareth Southgate Conor Gallagher has outlined the main difference between Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel after the new England manager oversaw a forgettable second international camp. Tuchel has come in for some fierce criticism following a hugely uninspiring 1-0 win over Andorra and a dispiriting 3-1 loss to Senegal at the City Ground. But Gallagher, who worked under Tuchel at Chelsea, is convinced the German will soon get it right. And he has detailed his impact on the training ground. 'I think Gareth is more chilled and takes a step back, whereas Thomas is full on with tactical stuff,' explained the Atletico Madrid midfielder. 'He's really helpful and really hands on in training. 'It's really exciting. A lot of the lads know Thomas already. I know him from Chelsea and obviously he's a world class manager and everyone's excited to see where we can go together.' While the players might be excited, the fans seem less so, booing the players from the field in the wake of the defeat at the hands of Senegal. Postecoglou's time at the top 'not finished'
Ange Postecoglou has gone and although sorry, I am not even slightly surprised - it has been an awful domestic season for Spurs. I do not however think Ange's time at the top is finished, though he might have to look for a progressive continental club to reignite his CV is very good and that Europa League triumph for Spurs can never be taken away. He could also argue that his methods and style were hampered by a lack of backing in the transfer cannot play high tempo 'Ange Ball' unless you have a very deep squad with real quality, youth and energy in reserve. The players he wanted and needed could not be acquired by the club. Had he got Conor Gallagher as he wanted, it could have made a huge difference. Gallagher was born for 'Ange Ball' and would have helped everyone else around lift their is also the fact that Postecoglou wanted to buy Eberechi Eze and got Timo Werner on loan instead. I was going to explain this disparity further but if you know football at all, you have got the point already.I think Ange's ideals mirror the way the game is evolving. His coaching ethos is closer to Paris St-Germain than those languishing in the past overplaying post-Pep course, this idea will be laughed at right now, but I recall being one of very few that thought Manchester United were mad to get rid of David Moyes. Jude Bellingham misses England training due to funeral but could face Senegal
Jude Bellingham missed training on Monday due to a family funeral but will be available for England's season-ending friendly against Senegal. The 21-year-old started Saturday's snoozefest in Barcelona as Thomas Tuchel's side continued their winning start to World Cup qualification with a 1-0 triumph against minnows Andorra. England round off the campaign with Tuesday's friendly against Senegal at the City Ground in Nottingham, where Bellingham is ready to feature despite sitting out training due to a personal matter. The Football Association said: '24 players are out training at St. George's Park this afternoon. Jude Bellingham is absent to attend a family funeral and will return to camp later today.' Ollie Watkins withdrew from the camp on Friday due to a minor injury, with Bukayo Saka and Conor Gallagher left out of the 23-man squad for Andorra.
