Prime minister receives phone call from Cypriot foreign minister
DOHA: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has received a phone call from Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus HE Constantinos Kombos. The two sides discussed, during the call, relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them, as well as the latest developments in the region, in addition to several issues of common interest. The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the State of Qatar will continue to respond to developments with wisdom, in line with its firm commitment to the principles of good neighbourliness and the promotion of regional security and stability. He stressed the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and resolve disputes through diplomatic means. For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus expressed his country's condemnation of the Iranian attack on Al Udeid Air Base, describing it as a blatant violation of the State of Qatar's sovereignty and its airspace, as well as a breach of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter.

Cyprus receives requests to help evacuate Portugal, Slovakia citizens from Middle East
Cyprus has received requests to assist in the evacuation of citizens of Portugal and Slovakia from the Middle East, Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos said on Monday. 'There are two active requests,' Kombos told reporters. 'Obviously this very much depends on the access of their civilians to neighbouring countries by road.' With Iranian missiles hitting residential areas in Israeli cities, many foreigners are seeking ways out of the country. Croatia's ambassador in Israel on Monday said 28 of its citizens expressed a wish to be evacuated.
