‘MasterChef' recap: Stress-fueled ‘Recipe Telephone' challenge ends with one duo's elimination over ‘badly executed' dish

Tonight on MasterChef, the Top 9 duos face a brand-new challenge of "Recipe Telephone." In a culinary relay, each duo is split up: one teammate begins cooking while the other waits in a separate room. Halfway through the challenge, the duo's swap places, and the second teammate must complete the dish. It's a high-stake, high-pressure challenge that tests just how well each duo really knows each other. The all-new "Recipe Telephon" episode of MasterChef: Dynamic Duos aired Wednesday, July 16 (8 p.m. ET/PT) on Fox. See our full recap below. Zach & Michelle Married Minneapolis The Challenge Judges Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derry, and Joe Bastianich kick off the intense "Recipe Telephone" challenge by laying out the rules: teamwork will be put to the ultimate test. The challenge begins with one cook from each team starting the dish, spending 30 minutes in the kitchen. Once their time is up, they'll trade places with their partner, who is waiting in the holding room. The catch? There's zero communication. The second cook has to pick up where the first left off and complete the dish — solely relying on culinary clues left behind at the workstation. Joe emphasizes the stakes, advising the chefs to "set themselves up for success" by carefully leaving strategic hints for their teammates. Every detail matters. The second cook must decipher those clues to finish the dish and carry their team to victory. At the end, the duo that creates the best-tasting dish will receive an extraordinary prize: three unforgettable dinners at the judges' iconic restaurants. The losing duo will be eliminated. As the challenge begins, the holding room fills with anxious contestants, while their partners dive into the pantry. They need to be both creative and smart, selecting ingredients that will inspire their teammates without overcomplicating the task. Throughout the cook, Tiffany expresses concern for Zach & Michelle, who she feels may have too many elements going on. She says, "I'm not sure Zach is going to be able to follow Michelle's complicated vision." After the swap, Michelle is so overwhelmed in the holding room that she nearly faints. The final 30 minutes are pure chaos. Watching flustered contestants try to piece together their partner's vision — or salvage what they can — made this one of the most entertaining challenges yet on MasterChef. By the end of the challenge, some duos appear confident, proudly standing behind their completed dishes, while others look like they're ready to crawl under their workstation in defeat. Top 3 Jessica & JesseDish: Chargrilled Pork Chop with Maple Glaze, Chipotle Sweet Potato, Broccolini, and PeperonataGordon: "The pork is cooked beautifully. It's hard to believe you've been separated for 30 minutes."Tiffany: "I love that the broccolini has lots of crunch and a little spice. It's great."Joe: "The peperonata is fantastic and that's a hard thing to make." Rachel & JulioDish: Pan-Seared Chicken Breast with Sautéed Asparagus, Chimichurri Sauce, Tostones, Bacon FarofaGordon: "Visually, it's rustic and charming. It looks like you've invited us over for Sunday night dinner at your house."Tiffany: "The chicken is lovely. The asparagus has a lot of flavor as well. You did a really good job."Joe: "All the flavors are great. You're cooking techniques are great. Good job." Tina & AivanDish: Lobster Garlic Butter Pasta with Lemon Asparagus and Sautéed MushroomsGordon: "This dish is delicious. It needs a touch of acid at the end, but the flavor is really good."Tiffany: "The lobster is perfectly cooked. You have just the right amount of sauce."Joe: "This is a great dish. The lobster is tender and has a lot of flavor." Winner The winner of this challenge is Rachel & Julio. They receive three complimentary dinners courtesy of Gordon's, Tiffany's, and Joe's restaurants. Bottom 3 Tonna & CaitDish: New York Strip Steak with Parsnip Puree, Asparagus, Fennel & Carrot Slaw, and Mushroom Red Wine SauceGordon: "The asparagus are delicious, but the sauce bleeds into the puree so it's all over the place."Tiffany: "The steak is nice, but I would rather it was whole instead of sliced."Joe: "There are three things that are terrible on this plate: the raw fennel and carrots, the mushrooms are not integrated, and if you call that a wine sauce, I call that dumping half a glass of cabernet in your dish." Zach & MichelleDish: Crispy Skin Salmon with Israeli Couscous, Roasted Vegetables, Wilted Rainbow Chard, and Herb OilGordon: "The salmon is cooked beautifully, but everything else around it should be so much better."Tiffany: "The couscous looks a little dry. With the broth, this would have been a very different dish."Joe: "It's too bad because some of the components of the dish are really good." Kayla & Ryan KateDish: Filet Mignon with Garlic Potatoes, Roasted Asparagus, Honey-Glazed Carrots, and Chimichurri SauceGordon: "It looks sloppy. The steak is a little overcooked. Everything is just badly executed."Tiffany: "It feels like Kayla had too much to do and Ryan Kate didn't do enough."Joe: "There are a couple of fundamental cooking mistakes here." Elimination The fourth duo eliminated from Season 15 of MasterChef is Kayla & Ryan Kate. The MasterChef Junior besties remarked, "We feel really disappointed, but we put our all out there. I'm proud of us for getting everything on the plate. If anything, this competition made our friendship stronger." Next Week It's full steam ahead in the second team challenge of the season. Netflix announces return of VERY controversial series - despite it sparking waves of complaints for 'tone deaf and ignorant' scenes

Netflix has confirmed the return of a controversial series that sparked a wave of complaints from viewers over its 'tone deaf and ignorant' scenes. The streaming giant has officially renewed Squid Game: The Challenge for a second instalment - and also revealed when it will land on screens. It first debuted in 2023, following on from the original South Korean drama, but without the life or death consequences. Netflix bosses have revealed a second series of the show will be available to stream from November 4, with a brand new set of contestants. In addition, they've officially ordered a third series, cementing Squid Games' future on the platform until near the end of the decade. A teaser said: 'This time, 456 brand-new contestants will enter the ultimate test of strategy, alliances, and endurance as they compete for a life-changing $4.56 million prize.' It added: 'Inspired by the iconic original series with shocking new twists and never-before-seen games season two raises the stakes higher than ever. As players face elimination at every turn, only one can emerge victorious. New players. New games. New rules.' The new series comes after Squid Game: The Challenge was previously savaged by critics, pulling in a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 48%. Squid Game's original drama launched in 2021 and aired for three seasons before being cancelled by the streamer. Fans previously slammed the competition spin-off, saying Netflix brought the competition that the Squid Game TV series satirises to life as they condemned the streaming platform. 'I see you completely missed the point of the series. Good job,' they wrote. 'How are you so ignorant to the entire point of the show that was on your platform,' another wondered. 'Like did you even watch it?' 'The fact this even exists proves they didn't understand the point of the actual show - it's going to be so disappointing how popular this will likely be,' a third penned. Many pointed out that Netflix represents the very forces of power that the series is trying to speak out against and is ignorantly proving the point of the series. Netflix also revealed they've officially ordered a third series, cementing Squid Games' future on the platform until near the end of the decade The new series comes after Squid Game: The Challenge was previously ravaged by critics, pulling in a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 48% 'Making a reality game show based a show that critiques capitalism is still super cringe,' one user wrote. Another commented: 'I hate that this exists. Squid Game's entire premise was a satire of greed, class warfare and exploitation of the working class. So naturally a large corporate entity like Netflix just saw dollar signs $$.' 'Squid Game is a show about people struggling with finances, being played with and humiliated by the rich. It is not subtle about it, and mentions some Korea-specific circumstances and events,' one viewer said, adding: 'Making a fun happy-go-lucky game out of it is, IMO (in my opinion), tasteless.' Meanwhile, three anonymous contestants previously spoke to Variety, claiming they had to film for hours on end in zero degree Celsius weather. 'This is not a Bear Grylls survival show. If they had told us it was going to be that cold, no one would have gone through with it,' the first source shared. They added: 'Imagine you're playing Red Light Green Light for six hours. What game is that? This isn't a game.

Love Island fans' bizarre conspiracy theory Yasmin is ‘AI bot' after series of weird moments in villa

LOVE Island fans are convinced Yasmin Pettet is an AI bot in a bizarre conspiracy theory - following a series of weird moments in the villa. The claim gained traction on social media following last night's episode, when Yasmin, 24, appeared unusually rigid during the recoupling. 6 6 6 Viewers noted that she stood stiffly by the firepit, blinking slowly and barely reacting to the events unfolding around her. Clips of Yasmin sitting bolt upright in her bikini during Wednesday night's installment have added fuel to the theory, with fans describing her as 'glitching' and 'robotic'. One TikTok user posted a video of Yasmin with the caption: 'She genuinely scares me,' while another joked, 'Is Yasmin AI?' on X, formerly Twitter. A third viewer wrote: 'I saw someone say Yasmin is AI and bro she is literally not real.' Someone else joked: "Yasmin is the certified first Love island AI icon," as a fifth chimed in with: "is yasmin love island's first ai contestant?" Show fans previously shared their convinction the commercial banking executive had been planted by producers, ranting, "she CANNOT be real!" Due to her outrageous antics, fans are convinced Yasmin is a Love Island "mole" and has been put in the villa by producers to stir things up. So far she has asked Dejon for a threesome, propositioned Harry, and talked no stop about sex - despite saying she had only slept with two men. Taking to X, one wrote: "I am convinced Yasmin is a producer plant and was told to f**k s**t up. She cannot me real!" Love Island USA guest Megan Thee Stallion shows 'insane' body in thong bikini & gets lap dance during twerking Another added: "Yasmin has to be a producer plant because there is no way." Someone else fumed: "You cannot convince me she isn't some sort of producer plant put in to stir the pot this season." 'REAL VILLA VILLIAN' Fans have also branded Yasmin "the real villain" of the villa as they feel she is doing all she can to split up Meg and Dejon. Yasmin has come under fire over her flirty interactions with Dejon, and also asking him for a "threesome". Taking to X, one fan vented: "Yasmin is a villain she just doesn't give a f**k." Another added: "Yasmin is actually a beg AND a weirdo omg what a villain." Someone else fumed: "They hating Malisha when the real villain is Yasmin." Love Island star turns on girl he's coupled up with after she snogs another Islander It all kicked off after Yasmin turned to Dejon on Tuesday night's episode, and asked: 'I have a question for you, it's a bit rogue, would you have a threesome with me and Toni?' Dejon laughed - but was soon saved from answering as Meg called out: 'Come here please!" He joked: "You called me at a good time! Oh my god! We'll continue that question." However, the flirty tone continued as she followed up with: 'It was in my head, I had to say it. Intrusive thoughts, intrusive thoughts." Yasmin tried to defend the comment as innocent fun, insisting: 'It was just flirty banter. I think all of us talk really openly about sex and what we want to experience.' But Meg wasn't having it, firing back: 'It just seems to be you three all the time.' In the same episode, bombshell Yasmin revealed to some of the Islanders, including Harry and Dejon, that a man had never given her an orgasm before - which came amid another very shocking claim. The Londoner also confessed that she has only ever slept with two men before, despite speaking about sex frequently with guys in the villa. Then, in Wednesday night's instalment, Yasmin spoke to Harry on the terrace when things got very flirty. She spoke about being "bent over" and he said she was "undressing" him with her eyes.
