Why It Matters According to the FDA, millions of people in the U.S. have food allergies or food sensitivities. Sven Hoppe/picture-alliance/dpa/AP What To Know The recall affects pints of Mocha, Cacao, Cookie Dough, Cookies and Cream, Cacao Brownie Bites, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Avalanche—all of which may contain undeclared soy and/or wheat. The FDA has classified the recall as a Class II health risk. This classification is used when exposure to a product may cause temporary or medically reversible health consequences, or when the probability of serious adverse health effects is remote. While no illnesses have been reported so far, the presence of undeclared allergens poses a potential risk to consumers with soy or wheat allergies. In sensitive individuals, soy can trigger reactions ranging from mild symptoms—such as hives and stomach cramps—to severe anaphylaxis. Wheat allergies can cause similar symptoms—including respiratory issues, skin reactions and, in some cases, life-threatening allergic responses. Because these allergens were not properly listed in the "Contains" statement on the packaging, affected consumers may unknowingly ingest ingredients that could endanger their health. The recalled ice cream pints, all of which were individually packaged in paper cartons with paper lids, were distributed to six retailers across Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. All expiration dates are included in the recall, with markings located on the bottom of each carton. "There have been no reports of illness involving products addressed in this recall, however, individuals exhibiting signs or symptoms of an allergic reaction after consuming Turkeyfoot Creek Creamery Ice Cream involved in this recall should contact a physician immediately," according to a news release from the Ohio Department of Agriculture. What Happens Next Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged not to consume them and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Protein Pints' Rapid & Explosive Growth Disrupts Ice Cream Expectations Nationwide

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Protein Pints, the innovative protein-packed ice cream brand, is rapidly disrupting the frozen dessert aisle with a unique offering that resonates strongly with today's health-conscious consumers. The brand is experiencing explosive growth fueled by exceptional sales velocities, surpassing many established ice cream brands, and overwhelmingly positive consumer feedback on its delicious, guilt-free indulgence. This surge in popularity underscores a significant consumer shift towards high-protein, health-forward alternatives in traditionally indulgent categories. Fueling this momentum, Protein Pints is in the midst of unprecedented massive national retail expansion. During this month the brand has launched all five of its delicious varieties in Target stores nationwide as well as a rollout into all Albertsons/Safeway stores across the country. Further underscoring its rapid traction, Protein Pints is expanding into all Sprouts Farmers Market locations in the country, building on a successful test at select Sprouts stores earlier this year. This aggressive retail strategy follows the brand's successful launch into all Kroger family of stores in March and key regional grocery store rollouts in April, including Woodman's Markets, Fresh Thyme Market, and H-E-B. As a result of this remarkable growth trajectory, Protein Pints' availability will skyrocket from a modest 14 stores solely in Michigan in 2024 to approximately 8,000 stores nationwide by the end of this month. Founded just two years ago by young entrepreneurs Paul Reiss and Michael Meadows, at the age of just 21 years old, Protein Pints has quickly captured the attention of retailers and consumers alike with its innovative approach to ice cream. "The consumer response to Protein Pints has been nothing short of phenomenal," said Michael Meadows, co-founder and CEO of Protein Pints. "Our velocities are exceeding expectations, demonstrating a clear demand for a protein-packed ice cream that doesn't compromise on taste. Our nationwide expansion into leading retailers in just a few short months validates consumer demand for Protein Pints, positioning our brand as a clear category disruptor in the $14B frozen dessert market." Protein Pints demonstrates the power of a product that meets evolving consumer needs for both indulgence and wellness. The brand's commitment to using only natural ingredients ensures extraordinary taste, while its significant protein and lower sugar content clearly resonate with a broad audience. This positive reception is paving the way for continued growth and innovation in the frozen food space. Available in 5 taste-forward flavors, Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Chip, Chocolate, Mint Chip & Strawberry, Protein Pints has something for everyone. All flavors are packed with 30 grams of protein per pint, made with natural ingredients and 85% less sugar than traditional ice cream.
