In 2024, Pinkvilla was the first to report that Aamir Khan is teaming up with Lokesh Kanagaraj on a superhero film. Through the promotions of Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir confirmed that he is indeed in talks with the Coolie filmmaker for a film, without revealing any details on the genre of this collaboration. And now, in an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla post the success of his social dramedy, Aamir confirmed that he is indeed doing a superhero film with Lokesh. Opening up about the Superhero film, Aamir said, 'Yes, it is (a superhero film). I am very excited for the film because Lokesh (Kanagaraj) is an amazing director.' The actor was quick to add that it will take some time for the ambitious feature film to go on floors. 'The film will start next year in the second half, once I am done with the Raju (Rajkumar Hirani) film. I think, we will start shooting for it in September 2026.' Aamir informed that he is looking forward to the actioner. 'I am really looking forward to it. For me, it is exciting because I have not done an action film for a very long,' he added. Before the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, Aamir will wrap up shooting for the social dramedy with Rajkumar Hirani, which is a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke. Over the years, Yash Raj Films has established a strong distribution network, with their offices running across the country. The studio often has an upward hand in the clash scenario owing to a good hold on exhibitors in almost every circuit of India. Come the Independence Day weekend, and their ambitious actioner, War 2 led by Hrithik Roshan, NTR, and Kiara Advani is all set to release with the Lokesh Kangaraj-directed Coolie with Rajinikanth in the lead. And Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that YRF has inked an exclusive deal with IMAX. According to reliable trade sources, no other film except for War 2 will see an IMAX release in India over the Independence Day weekend. 'In a strategy move, YRF has already secured an exclusive nationwide showcasing on the big screen format of IMAX, which means that no other film except for War 2 will get showcasing at the aforementioned properties in India. The film has secured a run on IMAX properties until the release of the next Conjuring film. Internationally too, most properties catering to the Indian diaspora are giving a preference to War 2 at IMAX properties,' revealed a source close to the development. The source further added that YRF has secured a deal of approx. 2 weeks in Imax and is currently in advanced conversations with exhibitors to release the Ayan Mukerji directorial in a manner that ensures WAR 2 reaches audiences in high-quality cinematic experiences worldwide. India has approx. 33 IMAX screens, and these are touted to be the high-performing centres for film business. Marketed as a face-off between Hrithik Roshan and NTR, War 2 is gearing up for a massive release all across the globe on August 14. While the makers have already dropped the teaser of War 2, the music and other marketing assets will be unleashed from mid-July, leading to the film's release. Crucially, War 2 is expected to unveil long-term storylines and characters that will send ripples across all future instalments including Alpha, Pathaan 2, and Tiger v/s Pathaan, laying a robust foundation for what's to come in this interconnected cinematic world. The film has been designed for the big screen with six larger-than-life action sequences featuring the emotionally charged-up characters leading to all the drama and thrill. With just 50 days to go for the release of director Lokesh Kanakaraj 's eagerly awaited action thriller 'Coolie', featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, the makers of the film on Thursday announced that the Hindi version of the film had now been titled as 'Coolie The Powerhouse'. Sun Pictures, the production house that is producing the film,on Thursday released a new poster from the film to highlight the fact that the film was 50 days away from its release. Releasing the poster on its X handle, Sun Pictures wrote, "Deva's rage begins in 50 days! #CoolieIn50Days #Coolie in Hindi is now #CoolieThePowerhouse. #Coolie releasing worldwide August 14th." It may be recalled that a few days ago, a section of the media had claimed that the Hindi version of the film had been titled 'Majdoor'. However, the Hindi title evoked a mixed response from netizens on social media. Sun Pictures, on Thursday, announced that the Hindi version would now be called 'Coolie The Powerhouse'. 'Coolie', which is expected to be an action thriller, will, apart from Rajinikanth, feature a number of top stars including Telugu star Nagarjuna, Kannada star Upendra, Malayalam star Soubin Shahir and Tamil star Sathyaraj.
