Young driver killed in crash near Coral Bay in WA

A 25-year-old man has died in another tragic car crash in WA. It happened on Coral Bay Rd near Minilya-Exmouth Rd in Lydon, about 160km east of the coastal tourist town of Coral Bay and 1100km north of Perth, on Sunday morning. A red Toyota Hilux and a white Volkswagen T-Cross collided about 9.30am. The 25-year-old male Hilux driver was rushed to Coral Bay Nursing Post with critical injuries but could not be saved. His passenger — a 25-year-old woman — was taken to the same facility with minor injuries. A 50-year-old woman driving the Volkswagen was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with injuries police said were not life-threatening. The crash closed an 8km stretch of Coral Bay Rd between Minilya-Exmouth Rd and Cardabia Rd for several hours and was reopened with speed reductions, given authorities were still at the scene. Major Crash investigators are now working to piece together exactly what happened and have appealed for information and footage. The 2025 road toll for the state stands at 120 people.
