Northamptonshire primary school planters aim to tackle flooding
Flower and vegetable planters installed to teach pupils about biodiversity while also helping to tackle flooding have been hailed a 32 specialist planters at seven primary schools in Northamptonshire are designed to help reduce surface water flooding. They include "integrated wildlife habitats" and take water directly from school guttering, reducing pressure on drainage systems, organisers said. "It's been fantastic to work with so many schools who were so enthusiastic to get on board and bring these smart planters into their play areas," support officer Rickileigh Edwards said. "The beauty of these units is that they combine practical flood management with an opportunity to inspire learning about water, nature and climate resilience," he and Innovation Northants (RAIN) Project, which led the scheme, said each stainless steel planter contained 10 wildlife habitats, from bee hotels and hedgehog houses to amphibian refuges and hoverfly planters at Oakley Vale Primary School in Corby were fitted with monitoring equipment to allow children and the RAIN team to track rainfall and water capture over time, while the planters were used to grow flowers, tomatoes, herbs and are also at five schools around Northampton and Brigstock Latham Primary near Kettering. The RAIN Project is funded by Defra as part of the £200m flood and coastal resilience innovation programme, managed by the Environment Agency. Family pays tribute to Tabatha Duroe after Corby motorbike crash
The family of a woman who died in an accident with a motorbike have said she was "beautiful inside and out".Tabatha Duroe, 35, of Corby, was with an e-scooter in Jubilee Avenue on 28 June when she was in a collision with a Ducati motorcycle. She died at the a statement released via Northamptonshire Police, her family said she was an amazing person who died just weeks after her mother."Tabatha will be greatly missed by her family and close-knit family of friends who loved her and who she loved back," they added. "As a family we ask for people to stop speculating on social media about what happened and for any witnesses to please contact the police."This is an incredibly difficult time for Tabatha's family and friends and we ask people to understand this and allow us to grieve in peace."The Ducati rider, a 57-year-old man from Corby, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous has been bailed while the investigation continues, police said. Driver jailed after fatal road race crash on A43 near Corby

Corby MP's Send meeting in parliament positive, says mum
A mother who was part of a meeting in parliament for parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities (Send) and education professionals said it was a positive was organised by the Labour MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire, Lee Barron, who held a similar session in January in the groups, schools, professionals and government representatives were at the meeting last Liverman, from Corby, part of the Not Fine in School campaign, said the point of the round table was to "focus on solutions around exclusion [and] we certainly met that objective."
