Universities begin undergraduate admissions on Chancellor's Portal
1 2 Ranchi: With results of Class XII of the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination declared and the Jharkhand Academic Council all set to follow suit in May-end, admissions for undergraduate courses in the state universities have also begun with the activation of the "Chancellor's Portal". Ranchi University (RU) officials said application forms for the courses would be accepted till June 19 and the list of selected candidates would be published by June 23. The documents attached to the applications will be verified between June 24 and June 30. According to university authorities, candidates can apply with their valid Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores and also their Class XII marks, but preference would be given to the former. The dean of students' welfare, S K Sahu, said, "The candidates have to state their choice of subjects and colleges in the application forms. In case of internet connection problems, they can also come to their respective colleges of choice where the common resource centres would help them fill up the forms. In case there is a vacancy after the first round of admissions, more applications would be invited again." It may be stated here that there are over 40,000 seats for UG courses in 19 constituent and 17 minority and affiliated colleges of the university. Similarly, the vice-chancellor of Sidu Kanho Murmu University, Vimal Prasad Singh said, "Our university will take admissions in 27 constituent and 16 permanent and temporary affiliated colleges. The students are now acquainted with online admission using the Chancellor's Portal" Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University VC Dr Tapan Shandilya said the admission exercise has started for his university as well.

ICSE results out; Girls Mavish, Khadija, Fatemarule the charts in Nagpur
Nagpur: The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) results were declared on Wednesday morning for both class 10 and 12, with girls leading in both sections in Nagpur district. CISCE is incorrectly, but more commonly, known as ICSE board, which is basically the name of the certificate it gives to class 10 students. In Nagpur, the probable topper for class 10 is Mavish Khan (97.2%) from Marie Poussepin's Academy (MPA) while for class 12, Khadija Husain (Science) and Fatema (Humanities) are tied at the top spot with 93%. Speaking to TOI, Khan said, "It's an unexplainable feeling that I have scored such good marks in my exam. It was a challenge to balance by studies along with my hobbies. I want to pursue the science stream and appear for the JEE exam." Husain said, "I'm very happy with the results but I am not resting on my laurels. With pass percentage of 99.6%, two students from Ahmedabad emerge Gujarat toppers in ISC, ICSE results
Prisha Soni from JG International School and Meghav Ladani from Zydus School, both in Ahmedabad, secured 99.6 per cent in the Indian School Certificate (ISC) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), respectively, emerging as toppers from Gujarat as the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) announced its results on Wednesday. While the pass percentage in Class X, where more than 5,000 students from 44 schools appeared for ICSE examinations, is 99.3 per cent, in Class XII, with nearly 2,500 students in as many as 28 schools, the pass percentage is at 99.65 per cent, Vinod K Rao, convener of ICSE for Gujarat region, told The Indian Express. In Class X, out of 44 schools in the state, 43 have a 100 per cent pass percentage. Similarly, in Class XII, all but one among 28 schools had a 100 per cent pass percentage. 'The school secured 100 per cent results in both Class X and XII with 63 per cent of students securing 90 per cent and above in Class X and 55 per cent of students securing 90 per cent and above in Class XII,' Zydus School for Excellence in Ahmedabad stated. In Class X and XII, girls outperformed boys, achieving a 99.63 per cent pass percentage. Among the boys, the pass percentage stood at 99.05 per cent. In Class XII, while girls secured a pass percentage of 99.90 per cent, 99.47 per cent of boys cleared the exams. The ICSE examination was conducted in 67 written subjects of which 20 are Indian languages and 14 are foreign languages and one is a classical language. The ISC examination was conducted in 47 written subjects of which 12 are Indian languages while four are foreign languages and two are classical languages.
