India will continue taking action to bring terrorists, their sponsors to justice: EAM Jaishankar at SCO
Tianjin/New Delhi, July 15 (UNI) With Pakistan's Ishaq Dar listening, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today told the SCO Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Tianjin, China, that the Pahalgam attack was a deliberate attempt to disrupt stability in J&K and sow religious divide, and that India will continue to take action to bring the sponsors and financiers of terrorism to justice. In his remarks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Tianjin, which was also attended by the Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, EAM Jaishankar also asked the SCO to remain true to its founding objectives and take an uncompromising position on the scourge of terrorism. Jaishankar mentioned in posts on X regarding the points he had highlighted: 'We meet at a time of considerable disorder in the international system. In the last few years, we have seen more conflicts, competition and coercion. Economic instability is also visibly on the rise. The challenge before us is to stabilize the global order, de-risk various dimensions and through it all, address longstanding challenges that threaten our collective interests. 'The three evils that SCO was founded to combat were terrorism, separatism and extremism. Not surprisingly, they often occur together. 'Recently, we in India witnessed a graphic example in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025. It was deliberately conducted to undermine the tourism economy of Jammu and Kashmir, while sowing a religious divide. 'The UN Security Council, of which some of us are currently members, issued a statement that condemned it in the strongest terms and 'underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of this reprehensible act of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice'. "We have since done exactly that and will continue doing so. It is imperative that the SCO, to remain true to its founding objectives, take an uncompromising position on this challenge. 'India has taken several initiatives in the SCO in domains ranging from startup and innovation to traditional medicine and digital public infrastructure. We will continue to positively approach new ideas and proposals that are genuinely for our collective good. It is essential that such cooperation is based on mutual respect, sovereign equality and in accordance with territorial integrity and sovereignty of member states. 'Deepening collaboration within the SCO naturally requires more trade, investment and exchanges. For that to move to the next level, it is imperative that we address some current issues. 'One of them is the lack of assured transit within the SCO space. Its absence undermines the seriousness of advocating cooperation in economic areas. Another is to ensure the promotion of the International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC). We are confident that it will continue to gather momentum. 'Afghanistan has been long on the SCO agenda. The compulsions of regional stability are buttressed by our longstanding concern for the well-being of the Afghan people. The international community, particularly SCO members, must therefore step up with development assistance. India, for its part, will certainly do so. 'The world is today moving towards greater multi-polarity. This is not just in terms of redistribution of national capacities, but also the emergence of effective groupings like SCO. Our ability to contribute to the shaping of world affairs will naturally depend on how well we come together on a shared agenda. That means taking everybody on board.' UNI RN

EAM Jaishankar meets Chinese President Xi Jinping, discusses India-China ties
Beijing: External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar on Tuesday met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing and discussed the trajectory of India-China bilateral relations. Jaishankar conveyed warm greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Chinese President during the meeting. The interaction took place as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers' call on the Chinese President. In a post on X following the meeting, Jaishankar wrote, "Called on President Xi Jinping this morning in Beijing along with my fellow SCO Foreign Ministers. Conveyed the greetings of President Droupadi Murmu & Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apprised President Xi of the recent development of our bilateral ties. Value the guidance of our leaders in that regard." The EAM is in China, his first visit to the country since the violent confrontation in Galwan Valley in May 2020, to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting (CFM) in Tianjin. On Monday, the EAM held multiple high-level meetings to deepen dialogue and cooperation with Chinese officials. He met Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee (IDCPC), and discussed the need for a constructive India-China relationship. He also held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a senior member of the CPC Political Bureau. During the talks with Wang Yi, Jaishankar emphasised a long-term approach to resolving bilateral issues. "Incumbent on us to address aspects related to the border, normalising people-to-people exchanges and avoiding restrictive trade measures and roadblocks. Confident that on the foundation of mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity, ties can develop along a positive trajectory," he posted on X after the meeting on Monday. The EAM also met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and reiterated that further normalisation of India-China ties can yield mutually beneficial outcomes. He stressed that open exchange of views and perspectives between the two neighbours and major economies is critical in the current complex global environment. Highlighting the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and China, Jaishankar welcomed the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which had been suspended since 2020 due to the pandemic and border tensions. The SCO Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting, where Jaishankar is representing India, precedes the 25th Heads of State Council meeting of the SCO scheduled to be held later this year in Tianjin. India chaired the SCO in 2023, while Pakistan hosted the Leaders' Summit in 2024. Founded as a regional security bloc, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is a permanent intergovernmental organisation comprising India, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Iran and Belarus. The SCO's agenda spans counterterrorism, security, economic cooperation, and regional connectivity. India's participation at various SCO meetings has intensified in recent months, including the visits of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to China in June for discussions on regional defence and security under the SCO framework.

China: Jaishankar discusses SCO's role, modernisation efforts with Secy Gen Yermekbayev
Beijing [China], July 14 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar who met with Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev in Beijing on Monday said the discussions between the two included the contribution and importance of the 10-member organisation and endeavours to modernise its working. In a post on X, Jaishankar wrote, 'Glad to meet SCO SG Nurlan Yermekbayev in Beijing today. Discussed the contribution and importance of SCO, as well as the endeavors to modernize its working.' Jaishankar arrived in China after concluding his visit to Singapore, his first trip to Beijing in five years. During his visit, Jaishankar will attend the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting (CFM) in Tianjin and also bilateral meetings on the sidelines. The 25th Heads of State Council meeting of the SCO will be held in Tianjin later this year. India had chaired the SCO Presidency in 2023 while Pakistan hosted the SCO Leaders' Summit in 2024. The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation whose members include India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Belarus. Jaishankar's visit comes after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval travelled to China in June for the SCO meetings. Earlier this June, India refused to sign a joint statement at the SCO Defence Ministers' meeting after it did not include any mention of the terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people. India had pushed for strong references to terrorism, but one country -- believed to be Pakistan -- disagreed. (ANI)

The joint logo incorporates elements: colours from the Indian and Singaporean National flags, the Lotus (National flower of India) & Orchid (National flower of Singapore), and the number 60, highlighting the significant milestone of the 60th anniversary. Overall, the logo reads "India Singapore 60 years of diplomatic relations". According to MEA, the placement of these elements symbolises the enduring friendship, mutual trust and shared values between the two countries.
