Courteney Cox recognises Irish woman's Cork accent

While there are a wide range of accents across the island of Ireland, deciphering what part of Ireland a person is from is easy work for Friends actress Courteney Cox. Fitness influencer Laura Dorgan, had the day of her dreams on Wednesday when she managed to catch the iconic actress coming out of a TV gig. Not only could Courteney pick up on the Irish accent, she confirmed that she knew Laura was a Cork woman. Pic: Laura Dorgan Fitness/ Instagram Cork native Laura has been based in New York City for the last number of years, and has previously seen the late Matthew Perry as well as Jennifer Aniston. On Wednesday, Laura took to social media revealing she was en route to apprehend Courteney, revealing if her plan worked she would be half way to seeing the whole cast of the 90s sitcom. Laura had spotted Courteney's name on the line-up of a TV show and made her way to the studio, hoping to time it right so that she would catch the Scream star leaving the building. Unbelievably it all went to plan for Laura and despite having to 'leg it' five blocks after seeing a car she thought could be Courteney's chauffeur she made it with time to spare. A clip shared to Laura's socials sees the actress leaving the building with Laura seizing her chance and asking to get a picture with her. 'Sure!' Courteney said obligingly. The next clip saw the 61-year-old getting into her car, with Laura answering the unheard question of what part of Ireland she was from. 'I was going to say Cork!' Courteney confirmed. Heading back home, Laura took to Instagram to detail the experience, 'What just happened? I just got a selfie with Courteney Cox — I never got a selfie with Jennifer; I never got a selfie with Matthew. I just got a selfie with Courteney Cox — I never got a selfie with Jennifer; I never got a selfie with Matthew. 'I just got a selfie with Courteney. Oh! I can't. I am hyper!! A selfie with Courteney Cox.' Laura recalled that Courteney asked 'Ireland?' before then asking Laura what part. 'Has she been to Cork? Does anyone know has she been to Cork? What even is today?' Laura continued, 'Lads, I'm still not the better of it'. 'She was in Scream. She's Monica Geller. If I keep my mouth open any longer, I'll be catching flies.' Perhaps Courteney in Cork isn't too crazy an idea, as the actress is in a long-term relationship with Snow Patrol frontman Johnny McDaid – could the Derry man have whisked her down to the Rebel County previously? Earlier this year, EVOKE reported that Courteney had popped into Derry salon Phibrow for an eye brow session, with owner Elaine Simms taking to social media to share stunning before and after shots.

Courteney Cox shows fans the 'weird' items hidden in her closet

Courteney Cox has a cardboard cutout of herself in her closet. The 61-year-old actress has given her fans a peek in her coat closet at home, which she doesn't need due to the California weather, so she's filled the space with all sorts of "weird" items. In a video on Instagram, she said: "Living in California, we have very little need for a coat closet. This is what I have in my coat closet, and this is for real. "I'll start with ... a Scream mask that — it's like a popcorn holder. "Now what are the chances that you actually are going to serve popcorn ... or maybe it's for Halloween? Well, actually, that is a really good idea." Next, Courteney revealed she has some life-size cutouts of her own face. She said: "What the hell? I have masks of myself. This would be my dog walker. She got masks of myself, and I still have them. Okay, weird." Later in the video, she also found another cardboard cutout of her upper body, and insisted she isn't "obsesssed" with herself. She quipped: "Look at this. It's like I'm obsessed with myself, but I'm really not, I swear." The Friends star noted she also has two small coats in there, which are for her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. She laughed: "These are the only coats that have in my closet. This little rain gear. You know, this is for not a baby. "Nope, that's probably Lily's, this is Bear's. Just in case they go walking in the rain." Elsewhere, Courteney found a "candle-making craft tool", as she mentioned her own Homecourt lifestyle brand. She teased: "That's where Homecourt started, right there. We make our own candles. That's what I do all day, and then I sell them to you." In another amusing moment, the Scream star joked she has "problems", when she found loads of baskets of different sized stacked inside each other. There was also something for Friends fans, as Courteney - who joked the closet was "making her so anxious" - found a book from the classic comedy. Before admitting she had to spend her evening "cleaning out this closet", the Hollywood star found an old photo album, which including a picture of her own mother as a child. She said: "That's my mom when she was a baby. This is actually an important book. I'm glad I found it."

Courteney Cox reveals she tattooed her eyelids they've turned blue

Courteney Cox just hopped on Instagram to do a quick — and honestly very helpful —makeup tutorial, and casually revealed that her eyelids? Turns out the Friends star inked a black line on the top of her lids — presumably for a permanent eyeliner effect — but seriously regrets the decision because it turned blue. "A long time ago I tattooed the top of my eyelids…big mistake," she said "It was supposed to be black, but now it's blue. So I always have to wear something to cover that, which is such a drag." Courteney revealed that she uses a brown Victoria Beckham pencil to cover the blue ink, and it honestly does the job because you'd never know. The actor also chatted a bit about her brows, saying she's all about growing them out after years of skinny brows (it was the 90s, after all). "I'm all about brows," she said. "If you look at me from back in the day, I had the skinniest eyebrows for like 20 years. I had them on Friends, I had them on Scream. I actually microblade my eyebrows now and put all that stuff on them to make them grow." Kay, gonna go buy this eyeliner now. Courteney Cox's real Friends tears when plot mirrored own devastating tragedy

Like her Friends character Monica Geller, Courteney Cox fought a devastating and exhausting battle to become a mum It's 30 years since Friends first launched and became iconic TV viewing. With its relatable plotlines and quick wit, the show remains as popular now as it was then. But behind the jokes and camaraderie, it has since emerged that several of the stars were battling their own, personal demons. The late Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, was in the throes of drink and drug addiction - an affliction that would cause his tragic death in 2023. ‌ Rachel Green actress Jennifer Aniston has since shared that she was struggling to have a baby with then-husband Brad Pitt, who met his future wife, Angelina Jolie, before Friends finished filming. ‌ And the same was true for her on-and-off screen best friend Courteney Cox, who was also battling to start a family with husband David Arquette. Her character Monica Geller spent two seasons trying to have a baby with husband Chandler, but nothing happened and they eventually learned that his sperm had 'low motility' and she had an 'inhospitable womb'. And away from the camera, life was mirroring art as Courteney battled through a "bunch of miscarriages", one of which happened as Rachel gave birth to her daughter Emma. 'That was hard,' she told NBC in 2004 of the emotional scenes that saw her break down. 'Sometimes, like I remember one time I just had a miscarriage and Rachel was giving birth. It was like that same time. Oh my God, it was terrible having to be funny.' ‌ When she married David Arquette in 1999, Courteney, now 60, had no reason to suspect they would struggle to conceive. 'Well it was really weird because everyone in my family has kids. I mean, they pop out like it's nobody's business. No one in my family has a problem. So to me, I just thought this would not be a problem at all," she said. 'I get pregnant pretty easily, but I have a hard time keeping them.' ‌ She was told her body produced an anti-body that attacked the fetus and decided to undergo two rounds of IVF - the second of which brought her daughter Coco in June 2004, just two days before her 40th birthday. 'So now I decided to do in vitro and I did that twice. And then, give myself shots of heparin everyday - that's a blood thinner. Take a baby aspirin," she shared. Years later she discovered the exact cause after being diagnosed with a MTHFR gene mutation which alters how the body methylates and raises the risk of miscarriage-causing blood clots. Coco is now 20 and Courteney has previously spoken about wanting to try for a second child with fiancé Johnny McDaid. 'I would love to have a baby now,' she told New Beauty in 2017. 'I mean, I could carry someone else's egg. I may be one of the older people doing it, but I would love to [with Johnny],' she said. 'I know it's crazy, but I would.'

Matthew Perry was 'in love with' Courteney Cox - but stuck to casting rule

As Erik Fleming is sentenced in relation to the death of Friends star Matthew Perry, the Mirror takes a look at the sitcom icon's allegedly strong feelings for his on-screen wife, Courteney Cox The death of Matthew Perry shocked and saddened people across the globe, many of whom had felt they'd known his most famous character, Chandler Bing. Friends icon Matthew was just 54 years old when, on October 28, 2023, he died in the hot tub of his LA home. His death was ruled as an accident from the 'acute effects of ketamine', and followed many years of addiction to drugs and alcohol. ‌ Despite his difficulties, Matthew remained a source of inspiration for many and was an outspoken advocate for rehabilitation. And he never forgot the five castmates he rose to fame with as a young actor, with one member of the gang holding a particularly special place in his heart. ‌ Now, Erik Fleming, one of the five people charged in relation to Matthew 's death, is due to be sentenced. Fleming, 54, pleaded guilty in August to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine as well as one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death. He had initially been due for sentencing on October 30, but this date was delayed. Those who knew Matthew best will no doubt be recalling happier times with the gifted actor, remembered for his comic timing and magic onscreen chemistry with Courteney Cox, who played his onscreen wife. Poignantly, it's been reported that Matthew's love for Courteney were real both on and off the script. READ MORE: Friends' Janice actress describes sweet encounter she thinks was 'sign' from Matthew Perry During their time together on the wildly popular sitcom, Matthew allegedly harboured strong feelings for Courteney, who was at that point in a relationship with her Scream co-star David Arquette. Sadly, it was reported he was never "able to get over her". Speaking with US Weekly in 2022, sources claimed: "Matthew's always been in love with her. Matthew has never fully been able to get over her." However, things remained strictly platonic between the pair, with the castmates making sure their close friendships never crossed over into romantic territory, unlike their fictional counterparts. Opening up to Access in 2021, Matthew revealed that director Jim Burrows had implemented a "no hookup rule". He explained: "There was a rule that we had, it was really important to the six of us, that we kept a friendship, that we were friends." ‌ In his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big, Terrible Thing, Matthew spoke fondly of Courteney, who he described as "cripplingly beautiful". Making sure to include heartfelt messages to his fellow Friends alumni, Matthew also thanked Courteney "for making America think that someone so beautiful would marry a guy like me". In an Instagram statement following Matthew's passing, Courteney paid tribute to her 'funny' and 'kind' co-star, and shared one of her fondest memories of their time working together. Courteney wrote: "I am so grateful for every moment I had with you, Matty, and I miss you every day. When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now, here's one of my favourites." ‌ She continued: "To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one-night fling in London. But because of the audience's reaction, it became the beginning of their love story. In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind." Marking a year since his death, the actress posted on Instagram, "Missing you today and always," alongside photos of the pair. Courteney and her former husband, David, whom she married in 1999, split in October 2010, and, as of 2013, the actress has been in a relationship with Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid, whom she met through mutual friend Ed Sheeran. Speaking with NBC's Today programme back in October, to mark the one-year anniversary of Matthew's death, his family spoke of how he'd hoped to marry and have children of his own - a dream that never came to fruition. His sister, Emily Morrison, poignantly stated that all her famous brother "really wanted to do was to love and be loved".
