‘A lot of opportunity:' $114 million stadium project helped Knoxville construction company expand

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Opening Day at the new multi-use stadium in Knoxville is taking place on Tuesday, April 15. The $114 million project seats around 7,500 people and Knoxville businesses, like Trusted Field Services, took part in the construction project. Trusted Field Services is one of the few black female owned construction businesses in Knoxville. A look at what Covenant Health Park could do for Knoxville's economic future 'This stadium has brought a lot of opportunity,' Kimberly Black, the President and CEO of Trusted Field Services said. The opportunity was one Black couldn't pass up. It was first brought to her attention by the Knoxville Area Urban League. 'Well through the outreach with the Knoxville Area Urban League was able to partner us up and learn about opportunities with the stadium and also provide classes to get us prepared to be able to take on the work here,' Black said. Take a peek behind the scenes of Covenant Health Park's kitchens Trusted Field Services made some of the things around various parts of the stadium from benches to concrete. 'These lovely benches that we're sitting on here now, bike racks, bike hoops, some of the concrete out here,' Black said. The impact not just immediate, but will continue on in the future. Black told 6 News due to her involvement in the project she was able to expand her company. 'This is a transformative project that will have an everlasting impact on our community and it's very historic with bringing the Smokies back to Knoxville,' Black said. 'With us being a business that's right here less than a mile away from the stadium, it was very important that we participated and got a chance to become a part of history.' Downtown Knoxville set to expand with rezoning of warehouse district near new stadium Black believes this project will continue to help the revitalization of this area. 'We're providing an entertainment venue for the city that everybody in the community can be proud of and we have done so much to revitalize the growth in this area,' Black said.
