Former NFL TE Jimmy Graham, rowing crew complete 584-mile Arctic Challenge in 10 days
Jimmy Graham may not have officially retired from the NFL, but the longtime tight end is keeping busy after rowing over 584 nautical miles in 10 days. The 38-year-old's latest pursuit saw him train for the past 18 months to take part in the Arctic Challenge, a journey across the Arctic Ocean with three other team members in hopes of setting a Guinness World Record. Advertisement The crew of Graham, Andrew Tropp, and Hannah and John Huppi — the first mixed-gender team of four to row across the Arctic Ocean and the first all-American team to row across a polar ocean, broke the previous record held by a team of four of 15 days, 5 hours and 32 minutes, which was set in 2023. The conditions, as you could imagine, were rough with the team forced to drop anchor twice during their journey. Not to mention the cold, rain and wind causing issues with recharging their electronics. The team began their trek on July 4 from Tromsø, Norway and arrived in Longyearbyen, Svalbard on July 14. According to the Arctic Challenge, the average travel time south to north is about 16.5 days. Advertisement This journey also wasn't without purpose. The crew set a goal of raising $1 million — one dollar for every meter across the Arctic Ocean — for Covenant House New Orleans and Laureus Sport for Good New Orleans. This kind of adventure isn't unusual for Graham, who served a lead navigator during the trip. He owns 10 different aviation licenses and is an avid cyclist. While football might be in the past, Graham has been planning his future, as he told Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan on his podcast in January 2024. "It just really gives me something to look forward to and something that athletically I can push myself in a new direction," Graham said. "And I don't have to take hits anymore. I can just sit there and just get to work." A five-time Pro Bowler and First-team All-Pro in 2013, Graham recorded two 1,000-plus yard receiving seasons and led the NFL in receiving touchdowns in 2013 with 16. Advertisement After sitting out the 2022 season, Graham returned to New Orleans on a one-year deal in 2023, his last in the NFL. He played in 13 games and scored four times.

A portion of the proceeds from the song will benefit Covenant House, an organization that aides young people experiencing homelessness. 'That we were able to unite with Dolly to raise awareness for homeless youth and the amazing work of Covenant House, which provides them safe housing and care, makes it even more special,' the band said. 'We hope you'll enjoy 'Home Sweet Home' featuring Dolly Parton as much as Dolly and we enjoyed creating it.' This is far from the first time Dolly Parton has teamed up with rock icons. Her 2023 LP Rockstar featured collaborations with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Sting, Steve Perry, Steven Tyler, Stevie Nicks, Peter Frampton, Joan Jett, Rob Halford, and Simon Le Bon. 'It was an honor and a joy working in the studio on Mötley Crüe's 40th Anniversary re-release of 'Home Sweet Home,'' she said in a statement. 'I was so pleased that they would ask me to sing on such a classic.' Mötley Crüe, meanwhile, have been off the road since October 2024 as Vince Neil recovers from a vocal procedure. It forced them to cancel many shows, and delay their Vegas residency. 'I'm truly sorry,' Neil said in a statement at the time. 'My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserve, and I can't wait to return to the stage. Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.' They have ten shows booked at the Park MGM in Vegas between September 12 and October 3. They then head to Riviera Maya, Mexico, on November 7 to play the Rock the Tides Festival on a bill that also includes Def Leppard, Bret Michaels, Extreme, and Living Colour. Dolly Parton and Mötley Crüe Top Charts With Heartfelt Duet
Dolly Parton and Mötley Crüe Top Charts With Heartfelt Duet originally appeared on Parade. Mötley Crüe and Dolly Parton have just achieved cross-genre success. After teaming up on the rock group's iconic 1985 hit, "Home Sweet Home," in June, Mötley Crüe and Parton, 79, have soared to No. 1 on the Mediabase Classic Rock Songs chart. The reimagined track celebrates the 40th anniversary of the original song from Mötley Crüe's Theatre Of Pain album, and marks the first time the track has topped the charts. Beyond the milestone, the collaboration carries a powerful message, with a portion of proceeds from the single supporting Covenant House, an organization dedicated to providing shelter, meals, and hope to youth experiencing homelessness. Mötley Crüe spoke about working with Parton in a joint statement shared following the song's release on June 20. "'Home Sweet Home' was first released in 1985 as a single from our Theatre Of Pain album. For an icon like Dolly Parton to sing on a song that has not only meant so much to us but to all the fans through the years, is a career high that means a lot to us," they shared. "We couldn't be happier to celebrate the 40th anniversary of 'Home Sweet Home' in this special way, and we're excited to share this version of the song with all the Dolly and MÖTLEY fans around the world." With a world speed record in sight, Jimmy Graham checks in from his Arctic Ocean adventure
'It's been raining nonstop for 24 hours. No sun for 72' Jimmy Graham and his rowing crew are a week into their round-the-clock paddle across the Arctic Ocean, and the former New Orleans Saints star tight end took a moment to share a message with fans following from home on Friday. "It's been raining nonstop for 24 hours. No sun for 72," Graham said in a statement through the Saints. "We're officially in battery conservation mode. Everything's wet. Everything's cold. But the mission? Still fully charged. We are so thankful for everyone's continued support through this journey. Let's go!" While Graham's aim is to set a new speed record for rowing this route across the Arctic Ocean, his ultimate goal is to raise $1 million in funds for a couple of Louisiana-based charities in the Covenant House and Laureus Sport for Good New Orleans. You can read more about those charitable efforts and Graham's partnership with the Million Meters Club. Strong winds pushed Graham's boat west of the planned course earlier in the trek, but they're still making good time and could reach their destination in just a few days. The crew spent a year and a half training for this adventure and hoped to make the trip in 10 days, but packed enough supplies for twice that if need be. The standing record for the 1,000-mile paddle is 15 days and five hours, and they just might beat that. Graham, 38, last caught passes for the Saints in 2023 after recovering from a cycling accident in Miami (he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle and joked that he "did more damage to the car"), where he played college football and basketball for the Hurricanes. His exploits as a pilot are famous, but Graham's wanderlust has taken him to sea, too. Good luck to him and his team on the final leg of this journey. Fans can watch Graham's progress with a live tracking map on the Arctic Challenge's website, where they can also donate to support the charities he's advocating for. Graham and his team have been at sea since Friday, July 4 and have a good shot at going the distance. We'll be rooting for them.
