Bust Watch cancelled? Concerning Cowboys first-round pick giving coaching staff confidence
The Dallas Cowboys need Tyler Guyton to be better in 2025. After a stinker of a rookie season that saw Guyton essentially benched, the Cowboys went all-in with their 24-year-old left tackle over the offseason. They resisted the urge to bring in a quality free agent and they even parted ways with last season's veteran replacement Chuma Edoga. For better or for worse, it's Guyton-or-bust for 2025. As one can imagine, there was a sigh of relief when Guyton took the field focused and fit for training camp. After working with Tyron Smith a portion of the offseason, Guyton seems like a new man in his second season. Onlookers have noticed a fitter specimen with better bend and technique to his game. At 6-foot-7, 322-pounds, bend is an essential component in order to maintain balance and positioning. While Micah Parsons may not be on the field squaring off against the former Sooner, plenty of quality pass rushers have been putting him to the test. And so far, so good. Until the practices transition to full contact no one will know for sure if Guyton has taken the necessary steps to become a quality LT. He's coming off a season where his focus, discipline and maturity were all called into question and the hill to climb just to get to 'decent' is rather substantial. But the former first rounder has been doing what can be done and showing what can be shown and he's earning praise for it. With the struggles at right tackle with Terence Steele, the Cowboys can ill afford to have two pass protection liabilities bookending their offensive line. One struggling OT can be helped with double teams and chip work, but two struggling OTs is almost impossible to overcome. Guyton's progression isn't just a bright part of camp, it's a season-saving necessity that the Cowboys bet big on. So far that bet is paying off. California Love: Cowboys agree to 5-year deal for summer home costing $375k in rent
Dallas cements California as its summer home through 2029. The Dallas Cowboys are staying put in their summer home, at least through the end of the decade. The team has reached a five-year extension with the city of Oxnard, Calif., ensuring that their annual training camp will remain on the West coast through 2030. The agreement is for a maximum of $375,000 and depends on how many weeks each season the team spends at the facility. A move as such solidifies a long-running partnership that dates back to 2001, with the Cowboys having trained in Oxnard 17 times since then, including every year since 2010. What began as an occasional West Coast detour has turned into a deeply rooted tradition, drawing tens of thousands of fans each summer and giving the team a unique environment to prepare for the season. The agreement ensures continuity not just for the team, but also for a fanbase that treats the late July to August experience to Oxnard as a pilgrimage. Each summer, Cowboys supporters flood River Ridge Fields to get an up-close look at stars like Micah Parsons, CeeDee Lamb, and Dak Prescott as they prepare for another season. As the Cowboys aim to break through a nearly 30-year Super Bowl drought, they'll continue to do so with the Pacific breeze at their backs and thousands of fans lining the sidelines. The setting may be relaxed, but the expectations are anything but. Training camp officially kicks off July 21, with open practices running through mid-August, and now, for the next five years to come. Cowboys release full Oxnard schedule, including open practice dates
The Cowboys now have set dates for this summer's training camp, including all the practice sessions that will be open to the public in Oxnard, Calif. Players will report to camp at the River Ridge Playing Fields on July 20 and then stay on the West Coast for three and a half weeks. This will mark the team's 13th visit to Oxnard in the past 14 years (the only exception being the COVID year of 2020) and their 19th overall trip to the city of 200,000, which lies 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Continuing their longstanding tradition, the Cowboys will conduct practices that are free and open to the public throughout their stay in Oxnard. Crowds are always expected to be heavy, and admittance can be cut off once the venue is at capacity. Gates typically open two hours before practice begins. After the team breaks camp on Aug. 14, they will return to The Star in Frisco. Several more practices will be held there before the start of the 2025 season, but those dates have yet to be announced. Here's a look at the team's full Oxnard schedule. All times listed are in Pacific Time. Follow Cowboys Wire on Facebook to join in on the conversation with fellow fans!

Cowboys Headlines: Trevon Diggs expected at minicamp, news on Jaire Alexander's fit?
Cowboys Headlines: Trevon Diggs expected at minicamp, news on Jaire Alexander's fit? When mandatory minicamp officially gets underway at The Star in Frisco, two of the team's biggest question marks appear ready to put an exclamation point on their attendance. Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons were already in the facility on Monday. For Diggs, the week will give the Cowboys an up-close look at the rehab he's been doing on his own. For Parsons, it's a leadership opportunity as his teammates watch how he handles his contract uncertainty. But we're also looking around the league at players on the hunt for new homes. Nick Chubb is taken, but how could his signing in Houston affect the Cowboys? We'll explore why Jaire Alexander could be worth adding to an already crowded CB room in Dallas, and we're wondering if there might be a QB3 competition coming from a UFL star. We'll look at two of the Cowboys' deep options at wide receiver heading into the 2025 season, we identify the biggest offseason move and it's not who you think, and we do a fit check with Dak Prescott to see if he's bringing a new look to the field this year. Plus, DeMarcus Ware weighs on on Brian Schottenheimer, Solomon Thomas's youth camp teaches more than football drills, and the latest on former Cowboy Kelvin Joseph. Dallas Cowboys to 'get a good look' at Trevon Diggs this week :: Link Diggs has been doing his knee rehab away from the team, but the reports making their way back to the Cowboys coaches have been positive. 'Our guys are keeping up with it and very pleased with where he is," said Stephen Jones. "We know who he's working with and feel good about it." Diggs is expected to be present at mandatory minicamp, where the training staff will see for themselves. Cowboys' Micah Parsons fulfills 'good night' promise to coach, reports ahead of minicamp :: Cowboys Wire Link While taking part in the latest TikTok trend, Parsons ended up telling head coach Brian Schottenheimer that he'd be in the building in Monday, one day ahead of mandatory minicamp. He was there, running on the treadmill and lifting weights. All signs point to his continued attendance at minicamp, even while waiting on a new contract. Cowboys should pounce as soon as 2x Pro Bowler owed $36 million hits open market :: Cowboys Wire Link The Packers couldn't trade cornerback Jaire Alexander, so they cut him instead. He's been injured a lot over the past two years, but he'll draw interest from several teams. The Cowboys would be wise to be one of them. There's no such thing as too many good corners, and while Dallas has several already, there are also question marks about nearly every one of them. He'd be a good investment that gives the team both depth and options. What DeMarcus Ware thinks of Brian Schottenheimer's emphasis on Dallas Cowboys' culture :: Dallas Morning News Link The Hall of Famer believes in what the new head coach is building in Dallas. 'When you bring the family atmosphere into the locker room, that's probably one of the most important things,' Ware said on radio Monday. 'Because now I know why that guy is playing the way he's playing. Or why he's playing — because of his young daughter, or his son, or his wife. I know why he's playing, and so I know how to push his buttons a little bit." Ware says the family element was largely missing when he was with the Cowboys, but he experienced it in Denver the year they won a Super Bowl. Pending Texans signing could have domino effect on Cowboys RB competition :: Cowboys Wire Link How could Nick Chubb joining the Texans still work out in the Cowboys' favor? There now seems to be a crowd in the RB room in Houston, and Dameon Pierce could be the odd man out. Pierce averaged 7.3 yards a carry in limited backup action in 2024 and had a league-long 92-yard score. Even without that jaunt, Pierce averaged over 5.1 yards a carry on his other attempts. He's exactly the kind of pickup the Cowboys could be interested in. Cowboys rumor connects UFL 'Spring King' QB as camp signing :: Athlon Sports Link KaVontae Turpin and Brandon Aubrey may have company in Dallas. Stephen Jones has hinted that the Cowboys could once again look to the UFL to sign some late talent. Many are wondering if it'll be Arlington Renegades quarterback Luis Perez. He's torched the spring league again and could provide some real competition for Will Grier as QB3. Prescott's summer flings to bubble WR will need to morph into substantial contributions :: Cowboys Wire Link A seventh-round draft pick entering his third season, wide receiver Jalen Brooks has been a frequent summer workout partner of Dak Prescott, but it hasn't translated to him being a factor during real game play. He's still buried on the depth chart; this year's camp could determine if he was just a Mike McCarthy project guy or if there's place for him in Schottenheimer's offense. Cowboys' Dak Prescott ditching signature look at OTAs is too good to be true :: The Landry Hat Link It looks as if Prescott could be moving away from the double-long-sleeved look he's sported the past several seasons. At least thus far in spring practice, he's been wearing just one arm sleeve, including on media day, when players record the official video introductions that get used on TV all season long. Cowboys WR hasn't taken snap in 6 years, holding on to hope :: Cowboys Wire Link Kelvin Harmon was a 2019 sixth-round pick and has done stints in the USFL and XFL. But that extra experience hasn't gotten him any closer to the field in an NFL contest. This summer, he looks to be fighting with Parris Campbell, UDFA Traeshon Holden, Jalen Brooks, Jalen Moreno, and Josh Kelly for a practice squad spot in Dallas. Controversial rookie outranks volatile FA as Cowboys most important 2025 addition :: Cowboys Wire Link His selection in the first round certainly wasn't flashy, but Tyler Booker is the kind of addition that can help the Cowboys win games in December. CBS Sports thinks he was the team's best move of the offseason. He should be a Day 1 starter and could help stabilize the pocket for Dak Prescott as the quarterback enters a pivotal year under a new head coach. Solomon Thomas hosts sixth annual free youth camp promoting football, mental health :: The Mothership Link He's new to the Cowboys, but not to Texas. The Coppell native didn't have far to go this year for his annual youth football camp, in which talking about mental health is a key component. "I lost my sister to suicide, and it took me through my own mental health journey," Thomas said. "I learned first-hand the importance of mental health and how it can affect you if you don't take care of it and if you believe these misconceptions about mental health." After Eagles' FA defections, do Cowboys or Giants have NFC East's best DL? :: Cowboys Wire Link Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Brandon Graham, and Bryce Huff are a lot of production for Philly to replace. They're still better than Washington, but Dallas has moved in front. Parsons, Osa Odighizuwa, Dante Dowler, Marshawn Kneeland, Solomon Thomas, Sam Williams, and Donovan Ezeiruaku could be the nucleus of a special D-line. The Giants are still the cream of the divisional crop, thanks to Dexter Lawrence... and drafting Abdul Carter will only help. Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback drove nearly 3 miles from scene of fatal crash on U.S. 75 before stopping, per court document :: WFAA Link The onetime second-round draft pick waited 40 minutes after his Saturday collision before calling the police, according to an affadavit. (And he called a relative before notifying police.) Authorities pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene and later found Joseph's BMW to be badly damaged. Police said Joseph appeared drunk and had slurred speech when they met with him; the cornerback admitted to having two glasses of wine before the crash but denied taking anything else.
