Mounties investigating after fire causes ‘extensive damage' to hotel in Merritt, B.C.

Mounties are investigating a suspicious overnight fire that caused 'extensive damage' to a hotel in Merritt, B.C., according to police.
A statement from the local RCMP says officers and firefighters were called to the fire at the Comfort Inn and Suites, located on De Wolf Way, at around 1:30 a.m.
The hotel was safely evacuated and no injuries have been reported, the statement said.
'A significant section of the building was engulfed, resulting in extensive damage,' Cpl. James Grandy added.
Fire investigators and police were expected to remain at the scene to gather evidence and determine what caused the blaze.
