Chris Brown Gives T-Pain His "Flowers" Amid Drake Drama

Source: Getty Images Chris Brown is giving credit where it's due and this time, it's all about T-Pain. But, was it to spite Drake? The R&B star took to his Instagram stories to praise the artist behind hits like 'Bartender,' calling him 'one of the GOATs' of their generation. 'RANDOM THOUGHT… @Tpain is one of the goats of my generation!!!' Brown wrote on his Instagram Story over the weekend. He followed it with another story that read: 'GIVING YOU YOUR FLOWERS!!! PIONEER. LOVE YOU MY BROTHER.' The shoutout comes at an interesting time, as T-Pain's name has been circulating following comments he made about Drake… and Drake's clapback. RELATED: Drake Hits Back At T-Pain Critiquing His Inability To 'Gracefully Bow Out' & Retire, Social Media Piles On In a recent episode of the Crash Dummies podcast, T-Pain reflected on something Drake once said about wanting to bow out of the game gracefully, 'The one thing I learned from Drake — and the one thing he hasn't followed — is his own words. Drake said, 'I want to be one of those people that gracefully bows out and not get kicked out.'' That criticism didn't sit well with Drizzy, of course, who responded by calling out Pain directly. 'This guy always had resentment for me,' Drake posted in an IG comment. 'You can hear it every time he speaks on my name.' While Breezy didn't mention the Drake situation directly, fans were quick to connect the dots. Especially considering his long-running musical history with T-Pain. Some fans pointed out that T-Pain once called out Chris Brown during a 2022 interview with DJ Akademiks, saying the singer had what he referred to as a 'princess complex.' 'That is my motherf–kin' n—a, but I know what his faults are,' T-Pain said at the time. 'Chris Brown has the princess complex… not only when you get what you want, but when you get accolades for doing absolutely f–king nothing and just being pretty.' Despite that moment of tough love, it's clear Brown holds no grudges. As the back-and-forth between T-Pain and Drake continues to stir opinions, Breezy's IG two cents adds some fuel to the fire. Drake Snipes at T-Pain for ‘Gracefully' Exiting Music Comments: ‘Guy Always Had Resentment for Me'

Drake has responded to T-Pain's comments regarding the 6 God allegedly not taking his own advice when it comes to 'gracefully' exiting the rap game. 'The one thing I learned from Drake, here's the crazy thing, the one thing I learned from but one thing he hasn't followed — his own words,' T-Pain explained on a recent episode of the Crash Dummies Podcast. Drake quickly got wind of T-Pain's words and fired back at the Florida native on Instagram. Drizzy claimed in a comment on Instagram: 'This guy always had resentment for me [laughing-crying emoji] you can hear it every time he speaks on my name.' Offset also had Drake's back. 'Da Boy is da boy s–t ain't gone change,' the Migos rapper chimed in. 'Hating on another grown man who do more numbers than everybody is Diabolical!' T-Pain also said on Crash Dummies that Drake is sticking around too long. 'I have ever since said, 'Thank y'all, I appreciate y'all. I'll see y'all when I drop — don't worry about it, I'll just drop something,' he added. 'Let me know if you heard it.' Drake is like, 'No, listen, I got another one. Hold on, check this out. Y'all ain't like that one? OK, real quick, just one more. Let me try one more.'' Drake first teased the idea of retirement during a 2023 interview with Lil Yachty. 'I think I'm at the point now where I just wanna like — I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day,' he said. 'I feel like I'm kinda introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit.' It doesn't appear that Drake has any intentions of slowing down either. Drake Hits Back At T-Pain Critiquing His Inability To 'Gracefully Bow Out' & Retire, Social Media Piles On

Drake's always down for a quick Instagram dig at any other artists who discredit him, and the latest to get a response is T-Pain. The Florida crooner was on the Crash Dummies podcast earlier this month, where he talked about his nearly 20-year career since releasing 'Buy U A Drank.' With two decades under his belt, he discusses the possibility of gradually stepping away from the musical limelight and how Drake fits into that around the 30-minute mark. 'One thing I learned from Drake, but one thing he hasn't followed his own words. Drake said, 'I wanna be one of them people that gracefully bow out and not get kicked out,'' T-Pain remembers. T-Pain continues, saying that Drake has become the artist 'he didn't wanna become' because he's constantly pestering his fans with new music. He adds that his view of the 6 God's mindset is 'No, listen, OK, I got another one. Hold on, check this out. Y'all ain't like that one? OK, real quick, just one more. Let me try one more.'' In comparison, T-Pain believes he understands that his influence on music speaks for itself and will continue to release music, albeit under less stressful terms, at his own pace, rather than at the behest of fickle fans. 'Y'all n-ggas don't give a f-ck if I live or die. Why the f-ck would I keep trying to impress y'all? I'm out,' he says of his own train of thought. 'I'm done. I did everything that I'm trying to do. I changed the game. I made a sound. What else?' Drake caught wind of the T-Pain critique via a clip posted to TorontoRappers' Instagram account, responding, 'This guy always had resentment for me [laughing emoji] you can hear it every time he speaks on my name.' The retirement conversation was sparked by a 2023 interview Drake did with Lil Yachty, where he discusses the dangers of addiction to the limelight and the competitive nature of rap that older acts seem to overlook . 'Sometimes it'll baffle you, like why are these people still making attempts at trying to be present in the space? And then you'll realize they probably, their needs and desires and their soul was probably fed for so long off of being a guy, or the guy, that they can't let it go,' Drake said at the time. Instead of becoming the old man at the party, Drake vowed to make an exit on his terms, but made it clear he's not ready now. T-Pain Calls Drake Out For Not Living Up To His Word Of 'Gracefully' Leaving Music Behind

Drake has been discussing his inevitable retirement for almost a decade, yet, for a variety of reasons, has continued to release music to much success and critique. T-Pain recently called him out for not living up to his word of 'gracefully' leaving music behind. 'The one thing I learned from Drake, here's the crazy thing, the one thing I learned from but one thing he hasn't followed, his own words. Drake said 'I want to be one of those people that gracefully bows out and not get kicked out,'' the 40-year-old singer said on a recent episode of the Crash Dummies podcast. Teddy was referencing Drizzy's 2023 interview 'A Moody Conversation' with Lil Yachty. 'I have ever since said, 'Thank y'all, I appreciate y'all. I'll see y'all when I drop—don't worry about it, I'll just drop something. Let me know if you heard it,'' Pain said with a joking tone. 'Drake is like, 'No, listen, OK, I got another one. Hold on, check this out. Y'all ain't like that one? OK, real quick, just one more. Let me try one more.'' The 'Buy U A Drank' singer claimed that in just two years, the Toronto superstar has become the person that he 'didn't want to be.' He expounded on that point and how it related to his career: 'Like, when he said that 'I wanna gracefully bow out and not get kicked out,' I was like, 'You know what? I'm out this bi**h.' I'm out this motherf**ker. I'm not trying to impress y'all ni**as. Y'all ni**as don't give a f**k if I live or die. Why the f**k would I keep trying to impress y'all? I'm out. I'm done. I did everything that I'm trying to do. I changed the game. I made a sound. What else?' The five-time Grammy winner did that interview with Yachty in February 2023, just under five months before his It's All A Blur tour with 21 Savage. In October 2023, he released For All The Dogs and followed up with a deluxe version in November. That following February, he extended the It's All A Blur tour and incorporated the Big As The What? edition co-starring J. Cole. Of course, in the middle of that tour, he was targeted by Kendrick Lamar, Future, Metro Boomin, and more, setting off the biggest rap beef in Hip-Hop history. He released several diss songs from April to May, and followed up with a few singles and features that summer. This past February, he released a joint album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, with PARTYNEXTDOOR while on the Anita Max Win tour in Australia. Drake is set to hit the road with PND for the $ome $pecial $hows 4 U tour in the United Kingdom and Europe from July to September, and has been teasing his next solo album. With all of that said, T-Pain wasn't wrong in saying that Drake hasn't lived up to his word, but only if his perception of that statement was that the father of one planned to gracefully bow out that year. The 'Nokia' artist has been a high volume act throughout his career, and is also the same man who rapped 'The most successful rapper 35 and under/ I'm assumin' everybody's 35 and under/ That's when I plan to retire, man it's already funded' on the 2016 Views cut 'Weston Road Flows.'
