That was Friday's message from Terrance Crawford and Canelo Alvarez, both complimentary of one another while downplaying a shoving incident in New York earlier this month during the media tour for their blockbuster match on Sept. 13 at Allegiant Stadium. The fight for the unified super middleweight championship is part of Alvarez's reported $400 million, minimum four-fight deal with Riyadh Season. 'You can see how big is this fight,' Alvarez said inside of a crammed dressing room at T-Mobile Arena before the official press conference began in front of thousands of fans. 'I'm glad to be involved in these big fights. And you know, Crawford is one of the best fighters in the last decade, and I'm glad to be here. 'These big fights don't need to talk (expletive) about each other. That's what I think.' Crawford, meanwhile, addressed why he pushed Alvarez in New York, saying he 'heard some things (he) didn't like,' but took the high road in sharing his excitement for what will be the biggest fight of his career. 'I don't even know the last time I've been this excited for a fight,' said Crawford, who held court with media members in the bowels of the arena on a loading dock. 'September 13, it's going to be a great night of boxing.' Friday marked the final stop of a three-city tour to market the event, which saw cooler heads prevail during the faceoff at T-Mobile Arena. Riyadh Season is working with UFC CEO Dana White to promote the fight, which supplanted UNLV football's home opener against Idaho State. Earlier in the day, UNLV announced the game would shift to August 23, with first-year coach Dan Mullen making his program debut in what is now the Rebels' season-opener in Week 0. 'The World Championship Boxing Match is important to Las Vegas, and the impact it will have on tourism is unmatched,' UNLV's director of athletics Erick Harper said in a statement. The long-awaited showdown between two of the greatest boxers since the turn of the century will be the first combat event inside the home of the NFL's Raiders. 'Listen, this is the one,' Crawford said. 'God don't make no mistakes. It's the reason why he waited all this time to put me on this stage with another all-time great like Canelo. 'Two Hall of Famers going head to head in one of the biggest events in the last 20 years. I'm looking forward to it.' It's White's first venture into boxing, and quite a statement in becoming a major player in the sport. Alvarez (63-2-2) unified the division with a unanimous decision victory over William Scull in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 3, with Crawford (41-0) in attendance. Crawford said it's been a longtime coming, and the jump to 168 pounds to meet Canelo has been on his mind moving from 147 to 154 pounds. 'I don't think any fighter has went from 147 to 168 to fight pound-for-pound a top five fighter like Canelo in the history of the sport of boxing,' Crawford said. 'Everything impressed me about Canelo. I'm a big Canelo fan. 'This is business. Like I said in the last press conference, I'm coming to take everything you got.' Said Alvarez: 'He's a good fighter. He have everything. He's a complete fighter. He have a large experience. He's a great fighter. I never understand my opponents. I always train like I'm gonna fight Mike Tyson in his era. UNLV football moves Dan Mullen's debut up to Week 0 to accommodate Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford fight
UNLV is moving Dan Mullen's coaching debut for the Rebels to make way for the super-middleweight fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez at Allegiant Stadium. The Rebels were originally scheduled to face the Idaho State Bengals on September 13, but have moved the game to become their season opener on August 23. On Friday, UNLV announced that the NCAA approved its waiver to start their season in Week 0 to make the stadium available for the highly anticipated fight. In a statement, UNLV athletic director Erick Harper noted that the program explored several options while dealing with the scheduling conflict. Advertisement "The World Championship Boxing Match is important to Las Vegas, and the impact it will have on tourism is unmatched," Harper said. "Las Vegas is the Sports and Entertainment Capital, and we are a part of this amazing epicenter. As community members and an institution that works closely with many of the city's great constituents, we felt it was important to request a waiver to show our commitment to the community. Harper added that the program looked at several alternatives to moving the game to Week 0, but that solution was "the most logical." After getting fired from Florida in 2021, Mullen took a hiatus from coaching and volunteered at Lake Oconee Academy in 2022. He arrives in Las Vegas after former head coach Barry Odom left to take the head coaching job at Purdue. In two seasons in charge of the team, Odom led the Rebels to 9-5 and 10-3 records. Mullen previously coached at Mississippi State before Florida. He led the Bulldogs to a 69-46 record from 2009-2017 and the Gators to a 34-15 record from 2018-2021.

Terence Crawford makes bold claim ahead of Canelo Alvarez fight
Terence Crawford has warned Canelo Alvarez that he plans to be the first man to knock him out when they meet in their blockbuster fight later this year. The pound-for-pound greats will fight on 13 September in Las Vegas for Alvarez's undisputed super-middleweight world title. Advertisement Some are billing the bout as the "fight of the century" with the undefeated, four-division world champion Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) stepping up from light-middleweight to take on the Mexican great. There are questions about whether his power will travel up the divisions and Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) has never yet been knocked out in a professional career spanning 20 years. Jose Cotto rocked him with a first-round left hook early in his career back in 2010, while he has survived notorious power punchers such as Gennadiy Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev and Dmitry Bivol, although he did lose a decision to the latter. Yet Crawford is adamant he can end the 34-year-old's streak. 'Anybody can be knocked out,' Crawford said during a press conference to promote the fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 'Canelo's got a granite chin, he's tough, he's durable. But we've seen him hurt a couple of times and given the right circumstances, anybody can get knocked out.' Advertisement There are some in the boxing world who believe Canelo has been given the rub of the green by judges when previously competing in Vegas but the unbeaten American isn't worried about that. 'I can't focus on the judges,' added Crawford. 'I just gotta focus on doing what I can do and controlling what I can control inside the ring. And that's going out there and winning the fight decisively.' 'I called Canelo out, he is the last great fighter amongst the era that surpassed us,' explained Crawford 'The Floyd [Mayweather], the [Manny] Pacquiao, the [Oscar] De La Hoya. 'Over the last 20 years [in terms of biggest fights], I can definitely say it's up there. 'Me and Canelo are definitely making this event as massive as possible, given the body of work that he's put in the sport and the body of work that I've put in the sport. "The accomplishments that he has, the accomplishments that I have in the sport. When you look at it, we did this together with the work that he did and the work that I did. "Everything is up for grabs. Three-time undisputed, three different weight classes, going up two weight divisions. An undefeated fighter in the 168 division in Canelo Alvarez. Another all-time great, Hall of Famer in Canelo Alvarez. Everything is on the line in this fight.'
