JioStar appoints Ishan Chatterjee as CEO sports as Sanjog Gupta joins ICC

Ishan Chatterjee
as the new Chief Executive of its sports business, overseeing both TV and digital platforms. Chatterjee, who previously served as Chief Business Officer – Sports Revenue, SMB and Creator Monetisation, steps into this role following
Sanjog Gupta
's departure to become the Chief Executive Officer of the
International Cricket Council
(ICC), effective today, July 7, 2025.
Uday Shankar
announced Chatterjee's appointment in an internal email, highlighting his significant contributions, particularly during the recently concluded 18th season of the IPL. Shankar stated, "Ishan has played a stellar role in managing the revenue responsibilities for JioHotstar and I am confident that he will continue to add his magic." Chatterjee will report to Kiran and will work directly with Uday Shankar on strategic initiatives for transforming sports and managing key relationships. Chatterjee joined JioStar in 2024.
Shankar also expressed his sentiments regarding Gupta's transition, noting that while it was a "shock," he was immensely proud of Gupta's new role at the ICC. He described Gupta as "one of the most talented, creative, entrepreneurial and trusted colleagues and friend," adding that Gupta had "literally grown up with me over the last two decades." Gupta's extensive experience in sports strategy and commercialization is expected to drive cricket's global expansion and capitalize on opportunities like its inclusion in the
Los Angeles 2028 Olympics
. Shankar emphasized the importance of Gupta's new role, stating, "This is one of the most important roles in the world of sports because cricket needs to reset for the next phase globally."
