Crime Alert: Tips sought in Reading shooting, Amity robbery
Crime Alert Berks County, a citizen crime-fighting group, is offering cash rewards of up to $10,000 to anyone supplying tips that lead to an arrest in these cases or any other case or crime. Tipsters with crime information can call 877-373-9913 anytime or contact Crime Alert at its website at or via the AlertBerks smartphone app. No one will ask the name of the caller, who will be assigned a code number. Unsolved cases are featured regularly in the Sunday Reading Eagle. Offense: Fatal shooting Location: 1200 block of Oak Lane, Reading Date and time: June 22 at about 5 a.m. Police synopsis: Reading police are investigating the fatal shooting of Melvyn Frazier, 21, of Lynchburg, Va. There were reports of an altercation involving several people prior to the shooting. Police are seeking information from anyone involved, anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have information. Those with information are asked to contact Crime Alert or the Reading police Criminal Investigations Division at 610-655-6116. Amity robbery Amity Township police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying this suspect in a gas station robbery early Friday morning. (Courtesy of Amity Township police) Offense: Armed robbery Location: Speedway gas station, 1028 Ben Franklin Highway (Route 422), Amity Township Date and time: Friday at about 1:20 a.m. Suspect: A Black male wearing black pants, a black shirt and a black shirt over the top of his head. He has a black beard and tattoos and is about 5 feet 10 inches with a heavy build. Police synopsis: Amity Township police said the suspect displayed a handgun and robbed the gas station of an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect was last seen running towards Route 422. Police synopsis: According to Fleetwood police, fraudulent orders totaling more than $20,000 were placed via phone using a Fleetwood-area construction business' credit card and were subsequently picked up by a person not affiliated with the business. The pictured suspect picked up an order and identified herself as Ventura Polanco. Crime Alert: Amity Township police searching for robbery suspect
Police in Amity Township are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store early Wednesday. According to police, a man armed with an adjustable wrench robbed the Speedway convenience store in the 1000 block of Benjamin Franklin Highway, which is also Route 422, just after 12:30 a.m. Following the robbery, he ran toward the eastbound side of Route 422 with an undisclosed amount of cash. Amity Township police say this man robbed the Speedway convenience store in the 1000 block of Benjamin Franklin Highway, early Wednesday.
