A disturbing incident has come to light in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvarur district, where students at a government school were reportedly served food prepared using water contaminated with human faeces. The matter is currently under investigation by the local to officials, three men allegedly entered the school premises in an inebriated state and deliberately mixed human waste with the drinking water stored in the school kitchen. The contaminated water is believed to have been used in cooking meals served to the incident is under preliminary investigation. That contamination came to light after several children fell ill from consuming the water. Youngsters from the village who inspected the tank found excreta and took photographs, prompting widespread outrage on social Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID), on January 24, 2025, informed the Madras High Court that it completed the probe into the Vengaivayal water tank contamination case and filed a chargesheet against three persons. The three individuals named as accused by the CB-CID in the chargesheet, were from the same Scheduled Caste community. The CB-CID claimed the contamination was motivated by personal revenge against the village panchayat president's husband, following a dispute over the termination of a tank operator.- Ends IN THIS STORY#Tamil Nadu
