XL Bully owner, 51, is rushed to hospital after attackers killed his dog in park - as police probe 'attempted murder'
Police have launched an urgent investigation after attackers killed an XL Bully and left its owner for dead. Officers were called to Eric Hendrie Park, Aberdeen, around 8.30pm on Sunday following reports of a 'disturbance'. As they arrived at the scene, they saw a vehicle parked in the park and what officers are calling an 'incident' which resulted in the death of the victim's dog. Paramedics rushed the owner of the dog, a 51-year-old man, to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where medical staff said his condition was serious but stable. On Monday, a police cordon had been set up around the park as officers continued their investigation. According to Detective Sergeant Emma Low, the investigation is still at an early stage and she appealed for anyone with information, as well as any witnesses, to come forward. 'Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact officers through 101 quoting incident number 3236 of July 27. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.' The full police statement said: 'Detectives are appealing for information following the attempted murder of a 51-year-old man in Eric Hendrie Park, Deveron Road, Aberdeen on Sunday, 27 July, 2025. 'Around 8.30pm, officers were called to a report of a vehicle within the park and a disturbance taking place. 'Officers attended and enquiries are ongoing in the area to trace everyone involved. 'A 51-year-old man attended Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following this incident. Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable. 'His XL Bully dog died as a result of the disturbance.' In February last year, it became illegal to breed, sell, give away or allow an American Bully XL to stray. Anyone owning one should have a certificate of exemption, which means they must have the dog microchipped and neutered, as well as have third-party public liability insurance Owners are also not allowed to walk the dog in public without a lead or a muzzle. The animals must also be housed securely so as to stop them from escaping. The ban was brought in last year after a spate of horror dog attacks, with police forces across the country seeing a surge in the number of attacks.

Police hunting 'slim' thug after man attacked in Gourock
Detectives are appealing for urgent information after a man was assaulted and robbed in Gourock on Sunday, July 27. The incident happened at around 12.20pm on Cardwell Road in the Inverclyde town. Officers were called to the area to assist the 42-year-old man who had been pushed to the ground, attacked, and robbed of personal belongings. After arriving at the scene, the man was taken to hospital for treatment. Medics have since described his condition as being stable. Meanwhile, cops have launched a search for the culprit. The suspect is described as being white, around 6ft in height and of slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top and dark green shorts. He was last seen running in the direction of Steel Street. Shona Stevens: Man in court charged with murder of Irvine woman in 1994
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman more than 30 years ago. Shona Stevens, 31, suffered serious injuries after being attacked near her home in Irvine, North Ayrshire, in November 1994. She died in hospital three days later. The mother-of-one's family has never given up their campaign for justice, and in November last year a £20,000 reward was offered by Crimestoppers for information that could help catch and convict her killer. On Friday, Police Scotland announced its Major Investigation Team had arrested a man in connection with the case. Suspect Fraser Kilpatrick, 67, was charged the following day and appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday. Kilpatrick, of Glasgow, made no plea to the single charge of murder. He is due back in the dock within the next eight days. "I am grateful for their information and input which greatly contributed to our investigation." Ms Stevens was attacked on 10 November 1994. After leaving Bourtreehill shopping centre, she was last seen walking alone on Towerlands Road at about 1.10pm. Ten minutes later, she was discovered seriously injured in a wooded area to the rear of Alder Green, just 200 yards from her home. Ms Stevens died in hospital on 13 November 1994. Appealing for fresh information last year, her daughter Candice and mother Mhairi Smith said: "There is not a day that goes by that she is not in our thoughts and in our hearts."

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted at an outdoor music Police said the woman, aged in her 30s, was attacked "by a group of up to seven people" at the Summertime Live event at Delapre Abbey in Northampton on 19 said the incident happened near to a toilet area between 20:00 and 20:30 BST. They said one of the offenders verbally abused the woman and threw water in her face before the rest of the group joined in the assault by punching and kicking her.A 40-year-old woman from Northampton has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is on police bail pending further inquiries. Police want anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them on 101, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Man left with fractured cheekbone and eye socket after Woolwich Arsenal station fight
A man has been left with a fractured cheekbone and an eye socket after a fight at Woolwich Arsenal station. The incident between a man in his 30s and two other men happened at around 11.15pm on July 5. Officers say the man was assaulted by the pair and they then left the station. The man suffered a fractured cheekbone and eye socket and attended hospital for treatment. Detectives believe the man in the image may have information which could help with their investigation. A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: 'Anyone with information is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 with the reference 939 of 5 July.
