49ers 9-time Pro Bowler explains emotions after being released and re-signed
While the San Francisco 49ers were busy adding and releasing players earlier this offseason, one of the most surprising moments of the last few months came just before the start of the new league year when they released veteran fullback Kyle Juszczyk. Juszczyk, 33, was coming off a 17-game season where he earned his ninth Pro Bowl and second All-Pro selections. He also had his most efficient season rushing the ball, averaging 5.2 yards per attempt (26 yards on five carries). However, just a short time after the stunning move, the 49ers and Juszczyk agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract that actually gave him more security than he had prior, and while h's glad to be the second-highest-paid fullback in the NFL, those days where he was without a job still put some stress on him. 'It was the worst three days of my life, but I'm genuinely grateful for it now," Juszczyk told The Athletic's Vic Tafur on Thursday. "It gave me so much perspective to kind of step back and see how good I had it — and then get the chance to come back to it. So few people have that opportunity. We jokingly called it a living funeral. I got all my goodbye texts — 'how much we loved you and appreciated you' and all that type of stuff, but then I got to come back. "So I got to feel that love from everybody. And I'm locked up for two years. I don't have to deal with this next year and I'm thankful for it now that it's over.' Juszczyk originally came to the 49ers in 2017 after spending the first four years of his professional career with the Baltimore Ravens, who took him in the fourth round (No. 130) of the 2013 NFL draft out of Harvard. And since then, the Crimson product has loved being part of the franchise, and that's why he chose to return to San Francisco. "It's so much," Juszczyk said. "Everything you just said, being able to walk into the building, and I literally know everyone. I know the chefs, the custodians, the PR team, the community team. I know all the players, like it's just a familiarity. My home is there. We bought a house back in 2017, and like, that's home. And to be in California, to be on what I think is a really good team, a team that I think has a really great opportunity this year. So there's just too many good things." In his mid-30s, Juszczyk is still one of the top fullbacks in the game, and that should continue into the 2025 season, where he'll be asked to block for Christian McCaffrey again, after the former first-round pick missed most of last year due to injuries. While there was quite a bit of turnover for the 49ers this offseason, having Juszczyk back as a steady presence on the field and in the locker room is very important. San Francisco risked losing him for a few days, but they should be glad that he's back for another two years in the red, white and gold. More 49ers: NFL execs, coaches, scouts don't rank 49ers TE George Kittle as the best in the NFL

Crimson Unveils ‘X-Factor' Strategy for Global Admission
Bangkok, July 11, 2025 - Crimson Education reinforces its position as a world-leading education consultancy dedicated to guiding students to top universities in the US and UK. With an impressive track record, Crimson students achieve acceptance rates up to 4.5 times higher than the global average, with over 98% receiving offers from at least one of their top five choices. Driving this success is Crimson's global network of expert mentors, including graduates from Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, and Ivy League institutions. Among them are Former Admissions Officers (FAOs) who bring firsthand experience in evaluating applications at the world's most competitive universities. At the recent seminar 'Research & Work Experience: Essential Components for Gaining Admission to Ivy League and Elite Universities,' Mr Benito Nishizawa Rodríguez, a former Harvard FAO and current alumni interviewer with over 17 years of experience, shared his insights. He emphasised that today's admissions success relies not only on exam scores but also on self-awareness, purposeful ambition, and the ability to express one's unique strengths. This philosophy lies at the heart of Crimson's approach for Thai students. Under his guidance, students have secured admission to leading institutions including Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, UC Berkeley, and the University of Chicago. Top universities seek students who are self-aware, purpose-driven, and able to express their 'X-Factor' whether as community leaders, project initiators, or innovators creating positive social change. 'Thai students should not be afraid to dream big,' Mr Benito advised, encouraging them to tell authentic stories reflecting their values, community connections, and aspirations. He noted that Thai students can serve as 'cultural ambassadors' offering unique perspectives on the global stage. Crimson's tailored programmes empower students to realise their full potential, especially through extracurricular activities highly valued by admissions officers. These include: High-impact extracurriculars: Students are supported in launching meaningful initiatives such as fundraising for robotics labs, developing apps, or winning national and international competitions to demonstrate leadership and initiative. Research and publications: Through partnerships like Indigo Research, students can pursue original projects and publish in over 30 global academic journals, showcasing intellectual depth and curiosity. Work experience: Virtual internships with global firms such as Salesforce, Amazon, Uber, and PwC provide valuable skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership, offering early exposure to professional environments. FAOs play a vital role in Crimson's mentorship model, helping students refine applications, essays, and portfolios. Mr Benito's experience in selecting candidates for Harvard equips students with critical insights to craft compelling narratives that resonate with admissions committees. To further support students, Crimson has launched the FAO Review & Mentoring Service, offering exclusive access to former admissions officers for in-depth, personalised feedback and strategic profile development becoming a cornerstone of its admissions success. Mr Panuwat Lueangrachanee, Managing Director of Crimson Education Thailand, highlighted that the company's strength lies in its structured systems, global expertise, and long-term strategic planning. 'What sets us apart is our global connectivity and close guidance by a world-class team,' he said. Crimson's selection of elite mentors, including those who specialise in designing social impact projects or startups, helps position Thai students for success on the world stage. Mr Benito exemplifies this blend of international excellence and cultural understanding. Crimson data shows students who begin preparation four years in advance are nine times more likely to gain admission to top universities. At the seminar 'Nurturing the Activities that Get Your Pre-Teen Into Top US/UK Universities,' Ms Claire Hao Head of Crimson Rise Asia Pacific and a graduate of Cambridge, Harvard, and Oxford introduced Crimson Rise, a programme for students aged 11-14. Crimson Rise focuses on three core pillars: Extracurriculars: Helping students discover passions and build achievements that shape standout university profiles. Academics: Strengthening foundational knowledge in preparation for high school and university. Soft skills: Developing time management, communication, resilience, and teamwork skills essential for future success. 'Starting projects as early as middle school allows students to explore and refine their passions,' Ms Claire said. 'By high school, these initiatives become impactful differentiators in the admissions process and a springboard for lifelong success.' Crimson Rise offers personalised mentorship to cultivate confidence, purpose, and global readiness from an early age. 'Crimson's mission extends beyond admissions. We are committed to developing a new generation of Thai leaders equipped with the mindset, skills, and global perspective to thrive anywhere in the world,' Mr Panuwat concluded.

King Crimson return to studio for first album in more than 20 years
King Crimson are working on their first new album in more than two decades. The prog rock legends' singer-and-guitarist Jakko Jakszyk has revealed he, Robert Fripp, Mel Collins, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison and Jeremy Stacey have been back in the studio gradually building their first studio effort since 2003's The Power to Believe. The news will come as a surprise to fans as it was assumed they were over after their last tour in 2021. Co-founder Ian McDonald passed away in February 2022, and the group's songwriter, lyricist and synth player Peter Sinfield died in December 2024. The group was hit with another death when ex-percussionist Jamie Muir passed this February. Speaking to Goldmine Magazine, Jakszyk said: 'It was an amazing thing to have done, and in a way, part of it's still happening. "As we speak, we're doing a King Crimson studio album.' As for when it will be released, he offered up: 'When that will come out and what format or how – that's beyond my brief.' He continued: 'But yeah, we've been doing it piecemeal, and then a couple of months ago, the management said, 'Can we?' So, yeah. I've been recording that with a view to it coming out in some format at some point. But who knows when?' The project will boast studio recordings of live releases, alongside "some other bits and pieces". Jakszyk also teased the release of his and Fripp's album, The Scarcity Of Miracles. He added: 'Plus, there's also an album I made with Robert before I joined Crimson called The Scarcity Of Miracles. There's a version of it that's about to come out with loads and loads of extra stuff.' Fripp - the longest-lasting member of the band - previously insisted King Crimson will end when he decides to retire. The 79-year-old guitarist is the only member of the band to have played in every line-up of the prog rock band since their formation in the late 1960s until now. Speaking at a media day attended by BANG Showbiz to announce King Crimson's 50th anniversary shows in 2019, the musician was asked: "Can King Crimson be King Crimson without Robert Fripp?" Which prompted the matter of fact reply from Fripp: "No." The next question was: "So when you stop performing, is that the end of King Crimson as a band?" Which Fripp answered with a straightforward: "Yes." In 2022, Levin casted doubt on a reunion when he told Metrograph: 'The sense I got from Robert [Fripp] was that it's over. Maybe King Crimson will speak to him in the future in some way, and will revive its head with who-knows-what line-up?'
