Collector urges responsible usage of fertilisers to save soil

Parvatipuram-Manyam District Collector A. Shyam Prasad on Tuesday asked farmers not to use fertilisers indiscriminately since it would spoil the soil, making it unfit for cultivation in the future. He distributed fertilisers to farmers at the Rythu Seva Kendram (RSK) of Kasappeta in Seethanagaram mandal on Tuesday and urged them to seek suggestions from agriculture officials and scientists to know the quantity of fertilisers required for application in the fields. He said that for the current kharif season, 10,384 tonnes of urea was available out of the targeted 11,327 tonnes. Farmers were advised to contact the district control room (Mobile No.:7989434766) to know the availability of fertilisers and seeds at their respective RSKs. The Collector informed that 5,985 tenant farmers in the district have received Crop Cultivators Rights Cards, and this would be extended to 11,000 tenant farmers. These cards would ensure farmers get benefits including crop loan, insurance and others. The District Agriculture Officer K. Robert Paul was also present.

16,250 tenant farmers to get Crop Cultivators Rights Cards

VIZIANAGARAM With the Southwest monsoons expected to arrive in the first week of June, Vizianagaram district agriculture officials have stepped up preparatory works for storing fertilisers and seeds. They have also stepped up efforts to expand the area of cultivable land and have assured tenant farmers that crop loans and insurance coverage in case of damage due to natural calamities will be easily accessible. Awareness programmes on the programmes are being conducted for farmers in various mandals. In the current Kharif season, 16,250 tenant farmers will be issued Crop Cultivators Rights Cards (CCRC) in the district as against the earlier 15,000. For farmers, these cards are crucial as they ensure their inclusion and access to government-supported agriculture schemes. On Thursday, a few select tenant farmers from Ramavaram village in Vizianagaram received CCRC cards from Vizianagaram District Agriculture Officer V.T. Ramarao. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Ramarao said: 'These cards empower farmers to access farm loans and insurance facilities, vital to investing in crops. The department will distribute 50,000 quintals of paddy seeds and other crops in a phased manner. And to avail these seeds at subsidised prices during the season, farmers should enrol their names at the Rythu Seva Kendrams.' With the Indian Meteorological Department issuing a favourable rainfall forecast for the coming three months, the crop area is expected to increase to 4.3 lakh acres, as against the previous year's 4.1 lakh acres. The demand for fertilisers is projected to be around 88,000 metric tonnes, for which the department plans to procure a higher quantity of seeds and fertilisers this year.

Tenant farmers demand CCR cards

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Tenant Farmers Association (APTFA) on Wednesday demanded the State government to issue the Crop cultivators Rights Cards (CCRC) to all 32 lakh tenant farmers in the State. The Association leaders said the NDA Coalition government is following in the footsteps of the YSRCP government and neglecting the rights and welfare of the tenant farmers. Association State president Y Radhakrishna and general secretary M Haribabu in a press release said the coalition government seems to sanction only 10 lakh CCRC cards to the tenant farmers. They said the government data revealed that only 450 tenant farmers so far got the CCRC cards against the 70,500 tenant farmers cultivating the lands in Krishna district and it shows the grim reality of tenant farmers. They recalled the TDP and JSP leaders had opposed the policies of the YSRCP government on tenant farmers and assured the tenant farmers that their problems would be solved if they voted to power. Radhakrishna and Haribabu demanded the government to announce their policy very clearly on the tenant farmers and issuing of CCRC cards to all tenant farmers in the state. They said some officials are asking the tenant farmers to get the Aadhar card of the landowner, Pattadar pass book, bank pass book and other documents to issue the Crop Cultivators Rights Cards to the tenant farmers. They said OC tenant farmers are not getting government assistance due to lack of CCRC. They recalled the TDP leaders have assured that all tenant farmers would get the CCRC cards if they voted to power in and even in the Assembly also they spoke to resolve the problems being faced by the tenant farmers in the state but so far, their problems are remain unresolved.
