Kian Kok celebrates new building launch

Designed as a modern multi-purpose centre, the building includes classrooms, a library, student entrepreneurship spaces, and income-generating facilities to support the school's operations. Praised as an innovative and forward-thinking initiative, the school-generated income concept is seen as a model for 21st-century education. Despite setbacks during its development – including the global pandemic, rising construction costs, material shortages, and fundraising hurdles – the long-awaited project has come to fruition. Police to investigate poster burning at student rally

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the case will be probed under the Sedition Act and Penal Code and referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers once completed. He confirmed no arrests have been made but noted that many tourists witnessed the act, which caused public concern near the busy Gaya Street Sunday Market. The protest was held with police approval and aimed to demand government accountability, anti-corruption reforms, and solutions to campus infrastructure problems. She highlighted the dual role women play in managing households while contributing economically, stressing their importance in building resilient communities. She said the Engagement with Sabah's Women Leaders programme aims to strengthen women's participation in leadership across all levels of society. TAED plans Nomad replica to honour Double Six victims

KOTA KINABALU: A replica of the Nomad aircraft from the 1976 Double Six tragedy may be installed at Prince Philip Park, Tanjung Aru, as part of its redevelopment, said Tanjung Aru Eco-Development (TAED) chairman Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia. He said the existing memorial in Sembulan would remain, with the replica serving as an additional tribute to educate the public, especially youth, about the crash that claimed several state Cabinet members, including then Chief Minister Tun Fuad Stephens. Advertisement Pandikar assured the replica would honour the victims without sensationalising the tragedy, and said plans could be revised if concerns are raised by the victims' families. Awareness drive launched for Damai Rainforest's global recognition

TAWAU: Public awareness efforts are being stepped up to highlight the ecological value of the Damai Rainforest Landscape and its nomination potential as a Unesco World Heritage Site. Kalabakan MP Datuk Andy Muhammad Suryady Bandy said this during a community engagement event aimed at fostering local understanding of the region's biodiversity. He stressed that community support is vital to preserving the Damai Landscape, which comprises Danum Valley, Maliau Basin, and Imbak Canyon. The Damai area protects between 15 and 20 per cent of Borneo's forest biodiversity and is home to more than 15,000 plant species.
