From 'Zombies 4' to 'Sinners,' 10 movies you need to stream right now
Man, it is hot. And I'm not talking about the weather – new streaming movies are also en fuego.
Good flicks are hitting your favorite services weekly – including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+, not to mention the newly renamed HBO Max. (Back in the day, it would have been retooled to be HBO Classic or Crystal Max or something.) There are theatrical releases finally coming home, including a Meghann Fahy first-date thriller and a John Malkovich cult horror film, plus original fare like Tyler Perry's latest Madea movie and the newest installment of Disney's musical "Zombies" franchise.
Here are 10 new and notable movies you can stream right now:
'Drop'
This modern Hitchcockian thriller doesn't take itself too seriously. Meghann Fahy ("Sirens") plays a widowed mom getting back in the love game. She meets up with a first date (Brandon Sklenar) at a high-rise restaurant, but is soon menaced with memes sent to her phone threatening her son if she doesn't kill the dude.

'Frozen: The Hit Broadway Musical'
"Frozen" fans who never got to see the Broadway musical now have their chance – and even if you've seen the original movie a thousand times, the stage show hits different. This live recording of a West End production features Samantha Barks (who starred in 2012's "Les Misérables" movie) letting it go with gusto as Elsa.
Where to watch: Disney+
'Heads of State'
John Cena plays an action-movie star who's elected president of the USA. Idris Elba is the British prime minister (and ex-soldier) who has no time for his tomfoolery. The two world leaders work together to save the day in this breezy action comedy, and Cena and Elba are aces working their macho chemistry as rival frenemies.
Where to watch: Prime Video
'Jaws @ 50: The Definitive True Story'
Are you "Jaws"-d out yet? For those still celebrating the iconic blockbuster's 50th anniversary, this documentary is essential viewing. Director Steven Spielberg goes deep on the exhausting and "terrifying" process of making his legendary shark movie, and filmmakers such as J.J. Abrams, James Cameron and Jordan Peele discuss its influence and legacy.
Where to watch: Hulu, Disney+
'Madea's Destination Wedding'
Tyler Perry's don't-call-her-elderly firebrand Madea returns in yet another comedy. Madea once again is chaotic as she, friends and extended family members attend the sudden Bahamian wedding of her grandniece (Diamond White), while the father of the bride (also Perry) is the stressed-out soul trying to keep it together.
Where to watch: Netflix
'The Old Guard 2'
Based on the comic-book series, this action sequel reunites Andy (Charlize Theron) with her crew of immortal warriors. She's learning to live with a newfound mortality as she reunites with an old friend (Henry Golding) and faces an ancient enemy (Uma Thurman) who emerges as an existential threat.
Where to watch: Netflix
'Opus'
This thriller stars Ayo Edebiri ("The Bear") as a young journalist invited to the event of the year: A mega pop star (John Malkovich) hosts influential folks at his remote compound to hear his first album since going off the grid 30 years earlier. The cult horror flick doesn't totally deliver on a great premise, but Malkovich is a hoot as a cross between Davids Bowie and Koresh.
Where to watch: HBO Max
'Riff Raff'
There's a lot to love about this crime comedy starring Ed Harris as a former crook trying to live his life in peace with his wife (Gabrielle Union). Things get messy, though, when his ex (Jennifer Coolidge) and soon-to-be-a-dad son (Lewis Pullman) show up having run afoul of a crime boss (a dastardly Bill Murray) and his enforcer (Pete Davidson).
Where to watch: Hulu
'Sinners'
Ryan Coogler's sinfully good period musical gangster vampire horror flick is one of the best movies of the year, period. Thrill to Michael B. Jordan as the Smokestack twins, who return to their Mississippi hometown to open up a swinging juke joint and have their opening night crashed by a band of bloodsuckers.
Where to watch: HBO Max
'Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires'
Just when you thought there weren't enough zombies, werewolves and aliens in this song-and-dance franchise, along come more monsters. Now college kids, young couple Zed (Milo Manheim) and Addison (Meg Donnelly) find a way to bring together the warring factions of Daywalkers and Vampires for everybody's well-being.
