Bobby Brazier says Freddy needs to 'grow up' amid family feud
EastEnders star Bobby Brazier has weighed in on the legal dispute surrounding his younger brother Freddy, saying he needs to 'grow up' a bit. Last month, the 2023 Strictly Come Dancing finalist addressed rumours of a rift with his dad, Jeff Brazier, as he posted a heartfelt message on Instagram. Speculation that he had 'turned his back' on the 46-year-old actor came after Freddy publicly admitted that he 'doesn't want to see' his dad. Jeff has launched a lawsuit hoping to block the youngest son of Jade Goody from seeing his maternal grandmother, Jackiey Budden. Freddy, 20, was reportedly spotted 'smoking a joint' with his nan — the star was due to enter rehab, having been addicted to smoking since the age of 12. Addressing his brother's behaviour for the first time, Bobby told The Sun: 'Freddy's very sensitive and wants to please. And when he grows up a little bit that will serve him well.' 'There are things I don't like about him and there are things about me he doesn't like. Freddy will be OK, I don't know if he looks up to me, but I look up to him in many ways, but he's a good boy.' Meanwhile, in his own interview with the Daily Mail, Freddy claimed that he and Bobby 'don't speak much either'. 'I sent him a message to wish him a happy birthday, but that's it,' he admitted. 'I used to be the middleman between my dad and everyone. But now I can't be bothered. I don't care what happens.' The outlet reported that Freddy has been living with Jackiey in her home in Bermondsey after 'storming out' of Jeff's home in an argument. An insider said: 'Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long – they've always had a strong bond. 'Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much. They had a great time together, playing with her dog and catching up at her flat – where he has often stayed over the years. Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn't worked.' Freddy, whose mum died when he was only four years old, is said to be heading to Marbella for rehab as he couldn't take getting clean 'seriously' while in the UK. Bobby is reportedly staying out of the feud as much as possible and has set his sights on Hollywood after announcing he is leaving EastEnders. More Trending 'It's mixed feelings,' he told The Sun. 'It's been a wonderful three years and I've learned so much, so it feels like home. It's like a family there.' After a stint on Paramount TV series Curfew, Bobby is setting his sights on Hollywood and shared how Joaquin Phoenix is a particular hero of his. 'I think he's incredible,' he shared of the Joker star. 'Even to watch him on set would be amazing.' Metro has reached out to Freddy and Jeff Brazier for comment. Got a story? Bobby Brazier speaks out after EastEnders exit and teases future acting plans
Last month the news came out that Bobby Brazier will be leaving EastEnders and the young actor has now spoken about his next steps in the TV industry Bobby Brazier has finally opened up about his future after deciding to leave EastEnders, where he has spent the past three years playing Freddie Slater. The 22-year-old, who joined the BBC soap in 2022, became a fan favourite thanks to Freddie's dramatic storylines, including the teen discovering unsettling truths about his biological father and navigating a potential romance with Anna Knight. Last month it was revealed Bobby would be departing from the show later this year, and now the actor has spoken publicly about what lies ahead of him once he waves goodbye to Albert Square. At the National Film Awards, where he won a prize for his work on the new Paramount+ series Curfew, Bobby admitted that his next steps are uncertain. He told OK! Magazine: "I don't know, I guess that's how it really goes and how it works in this industry. You never really know what's next until you go for it. "But yeah, I'd like to play a variety of different roles so I can work out what I like, what I'm good at and what I need to work on." While EastEnders has confirmed Bobby's upcoming exit, soap bosses had been keen to continue working with the actor. A spokesperson for the soap previously said: "We can confirm that Bobby Brazier will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish him all the best for the future." However an insider shared more insight into how the decision played out, revealing: "Bosses had a meeting with Bobby only recently as they had a plan in mind for a storyline, and it just so happened that Bobby was also thinking that now was the right time to look for other opportunities outside the show. The timing of the decision worked for both, but his final scenes are not for a while yet." Beyond the world of EastEnders, Bobby has been busy expanding his acting career. After his success as runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2023, he took on a new role in the series Curfew, where he plays a rebellious schoolboy called James. This project gave him the chance to work alongside performers his own age. He expressed his excitement about that new development in an interview that took place ahead of the show's premiere, sharing: "I hadn't really had the chance to work with actors my age very much either, so that was very cool. We've stayed in touch – there's a group chat going on." Bobby appears opposite X Factor winner Alexandra Burke in Curfew, and he has spoken highly of his co-star, saying: "I found Alexandra Burke really inspiring. We did a lot of scenes together as she played our teacher. "I would love to do what she has done and go into the West End. I would love to be talented enough to get up on stage and sing and dance every night. But I know how much hard work goes into that."
