Rams' 25 most important players for 2025 – No. 17: S Kamren Curl
Curl was one of the best safeties in the NFL toward the end of last season Kamren Curl was viewed as one of the most underrated safeties in the league during his time in Washington but the Rams recognized his talent and brought him to Los Angeles as one of their starting safeties. He had an immediate impact on defense, becoming a leader in the secondary and an every-down player. His value to the Rams remains high in 2025 as he enters Year 2 with the team, returning as a key piece of a secondary with good upside. On our list of the 25 most important players for 2025, Curl checks in at No. 17. How he got here After four years in Washington, Curl signed with the Rams last offseason. He inked a two-year deal for a modest $9 million, a terrific value for the team. He's entering the final year of his contract and is set to become a free agent in 2026. 2024 stats 16 games (16 starts): 79 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 forced fumble, 9 passes defensed, 38 targets, 26 receptions, 354 yards allowed Projected role Curl played almost every snap when he was healthy last season, staying on the field for 100% of the plays in 11 of his 16 regular-season games played. He should continue to play almost every snap in 2025 as the Rams' top safety, lining up deep and near the box. He and Kamren Kinchens are almost interchangeable in terms of being free and strong safeties, so Chris Shula has options on the back end. Curl seemed to be at his best when playing in the box and around the line of scrimmage, so that's where the Rams should line him up most often. Don't expect many turnovers or interceptions from the sixth-year safety but he's a sure tackler and has an impact in run defense. Why he's important Curl may not be a ball hawk or a turnover machine, but he has a great understanding of the Rams' defense, as well as what opposing offenses are trying to do. That allows him to make smart reads at the snap, whether he's dropping back into zone coverage or setting the edge as a run defender. The Rams are extremely inexperienced at safety outside of Curl, so they need him to continue playing at a high level and remain available. Why Rams safety Kam Curl says he won't play 'Madden' this year
Why Rams safety Kam Curl says he won't play 'Madden' this year Los Angeles Rams safety Kam Curl isn't happy he's featured in the new trailer for Madden 26. The veteran is seen being juked out by Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley in the infamous NFC Divisional Round loss during a blizzard. Curl posted a few times on X about his unhappiness with the exposure. "Lmao I ain't playing madden this year," he wrote, and added a middle finger emoji at the end. A few NFL players responded as well, including fellow safety Quandre Diggs who wrote, "why they do you like that dawg!" Curl responded: "Been playing all my life and this how my first time being on the trailer gone be." Will Blackmon, another former NFL safety, added that the trailer, "Made it seem like you wanted no part of that." The Rams and Eagles face off again in Week 3, and you can be sure Curl won't want to let history repeat itself in the real world.

The Brief Ronald Davis pleaded guilty to the murder of 85-year-old Lucy Pat Curl during a home invasion in Orlando and was sentenced to life in prison. Authorities say Davis posed as a community services officer before forcing his way into Curl's home and fatally attacking her. ORLANDO, Fla. - Ronald Davis, the man accused of a home invasion that took the life of an Orlando pastor's wife entered the guilty plea in court on Tuesday, reversing his earlier plea of not guilty. A judge sentenced him to life in prison on multiple charges. The backstory According to Orlando police, Davis posed as a community services officer when he knocked on Curl's door at her Caribbean Court home in January. After forcing his way inside, Davis attacked Curl, rendering her unconscious. She later died from her injuries. In addition to the murder charge, Davis also faced charges linked to a 2024 burglary that occurred just a street away from Curl's residence. NFL analyst thinks Rams could get a Day 3 pick if they trade this player
NFL analyst thinks Rams could get a Day 3 pick if they trade this player FOX Sports' Ralph Vacchiano picked one tradeable player for all 32 teams ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. For the Rams, Vacchiano selected safety Kam Curl, who started 16 games for L.A. in 2024. "The Rams' pass defense wasn't good last season and their secondary was a big reason why," Vacchiano wrote. "Curl clearly didn't have the impact many expected he'd have when he came over from Washington. But the Rams got Curl cheap, signing him to a surprisingly low two-year, $9 million deal, which makes him very tradeable. He's also still only 26 years old, so there could be someone who believes he can recapture the ability he showed with the Commanders. Maybe there's a better defensive fit out there, and the Rams can get a Day 3 pick back in return." This isn't the first time Curl has been tabbed as a trade candidate. Pro Football Focus named Curl as the Rams' best tradeable asset, too. All of Vacchiano's reasons make sense, including the fact that Curl is on the final year of his deal and will likely leave in free agency unless the Rams feel strongly about bringing him back. Curl finished the 2024 season with 79 combined tackles, one sack, nine defended passes and two forced fumbles. There is some risk involved in letting Curl go now, though, when the Rams are looking to compete for a Super Bowl this season. There is no clear replacement option unless the Rams draft one in April, which could turn this position into an even greater weakness if Curl is moved before the season. But, if the Rams draft a quality player who could start in Week 1, it might may sense to capitalize on picking up more draft capital for a young player in the final year of his deal. Whether or not this scenario materializes remains to be seen, though.

5 Most Expensive, Seemingly Useless Things
Today, there are few items money can't buy. With cutting-edge technology and extravagant innovations just a click away, the possibilities for spending obscene amounts of money on over-the-top purchases are endless. From fast food to a ripe banana, here are five of the most outrageously impractical purchases people have made over the years. Also for the average person, here are ways you are spending frivolously, according to Suze Orman. See Next: For You: Price: $100,000 While a four-piece order of McNuggets costs only $2.99 (or a mere 75 cents per nugget), one particular nugget sold for a jaw-dropping six-figure sum. 'In 2021, someone paid nearly $100,000 for a McDonald's Chicken McNugget that was offered on eBay with a 99-cent opening bid,' said Nora Curl, fine art and antiques expert and accredited appraiser for 'The Chicken McNugget was part of a promotional package with BTS, the Korean pop band and resembled a character from a video game called 'Among Us.'' Check Out: Price: $6.24 Million Fine art often commands sky-high prices, but when the art piece consists of a ripe banana duct-taped to a wall, its artistic merit — and price tag — becomes hard to justify. 'In 2019, the talented and witty conceptual artist, Maurizio Catalan, shook the art world by duct-taping a ripe banana to a wall during the annual Art Basel Fair in Miami,' Curl said. 'The art piece is entitled 'Comedian' and it obviously requires replacing the banana each time before it rots to mush. In 2024 a Chinese cryptocurrency founder bought the rights to 'Comedian' at a Sotheby's auction for $6.24 million.' Just DIY this masterpiece at home and save yourself over six million dollars. Price: $143 Million If you have money burning a multimillion-dollar hole in your pocket, rest assured — you can spend it on a 70-year-old car. Whether or not the vehicle runs is beside the point. 'It is almost common knowledge that a new car purchase will immediately lose value once the owner drives it off the lot,' Curl said. 'However, that is not the case for a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe, one of only two made, that sold for $143 Million at a private, invite-only auction conducted by Sotheby's in 2022.' Price: $450.3 million While Leonardo da Vinci's works already come with premium prices, the 'Salvador Mundi' shattered records with an almost unimaginable price tag–despite the paintings' unconfirmed authenticity. 'Original paintings by Old Masters and Blue Chip artists frequently hammer down at auction for 7 figures and up,' Curl said. 'The highest, to date, is the 2017 purchase of 'Salvador Mundi,' by Leonardo da Vinci, for $450.3 Million at Christie's. The kicker, though, is the authenticity of the work, actually having been painted by da Vinci, which remains in question.' Price: $12.6 million Jerseys, posers and signed balls are among the most valuable sports collectibles. While they serve little purpose beyond bragging rights, for deep-pocketed sports fanatics, a $12.6 million baseball card is money well spent. 'Collecting sports memorabilia is a sport in itself. The bigger the fan with coffers to afford Holy Grail items, the more seemingly frivolous the purchases,' Curl said. 'The highest price paid, thus far, for a sports card is $12.6 Million, in 2022, for a 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle baseball card, graded 9.5 Mint+.'
